I just passed the 1K mile mark on mine, same 2024 as yours with the 5 speed but with the White color exterior. I haven't stalled mine yet but I did do a partial crank with the ignition that failed to start the engine one time, I did not experience any power loss after. When you mentioned about the TPMS sensor light, that reminded me that dealers tend to overinflate the tires quite a bit when they deliver the car to you on the lot. Do yourself a favor and check out the VW Jetta before you pull the trigger on that. I took the Nissan Versa and Nissan Sentra out for test drives last week. Not bad cars, but very underpowered and kind of cheap build quality. The sticker price was $18,500 on the Versa, a little more for the Sentra, which aren't bad prices for brand new vehicles. I was all set to get the Versa, because I actually liked it better than the Sentra, but wanted to check out a VW just to rule it out. Thank God I did because the Jetta was awesome, a ton of power, much better build quality. Sticker price on the Jetta was $22,000 but they had a $2,500 off promotional deal from VW, so basically a $1,000 more for the Jetta, but worth it.

Can you please provide a link to the tuners you used
@oldsledpurgatory3595
@oldsledpurgatory3595 2 месяца назад
Well, that's gonna be a little tough because I had to modify the headstock and use a combination of new and old parts for the tuners. The D, G, B, and high E strings are using new staggered-height Sperzel Locking tuners (available from several sources online, $80-$120 usually), while the low E and A strings are using some very old Sperzel locking tuners I had in my stash of parts that are a bit taller than the new ones (better string angle through the nut). The headstock on these guitars is aroud 5/8 of an inch thick, a little thicker than a Fender or typical clone, and that could make replacing the tuners kinda challeging, which is too bad because it needs 'em (non-staggered height tuners are probably the way to go). So, I did it the hard way by thinning the headstock 1/16 of an inch to get the tuners to sit at the right height, which likely won't be an easy option for most people. Sorry I don't have a link or a better answer for you, but there are a number of videos on RU-vid showing some other options for replacing the tuners. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for watching. Have a great day!

Normally I'd be like you, and forget about the old holes showing and drilling new. I've watched several vids on this matter. The Kramer site has the specs on this thing all wrong from what I see. Very vague on the sizes so I need a tape for mm to measure everything. The tremdoctor pointed me to a good fix. Check out his channel on this guitar if you haven't yet. @Beauyuhkfer
@Beauyuhkfer 2 месяца назад
@@oldsledpurgatory3595 ok so realistically, is changing out the whole neck for an aftermarket 22 fret banana neck with 10mm holes and work in worthy tuners even a viable option? Or is the 21 fret neck on this the best thing about it? Besides mahogany body.
@oldsledpurgatory3595
@oldsledpurgatory3595 2 месяца назад
@@Beauyuhkfer I definitely don't mind a few holes showing. Just about every guitar I own has at least one, most have several. Yeah, this can be a challenge with these guitars Fortunately I was able to make something work. Swapping the neck is an option, but I wouldn't recommend spending a lot of money for one. A banana headstock neck would be cool but the stock trem might be tough to keep in tune, if that's something you're concerned about. I really like the neck on this guitar. The frets are kinda small, but I like the overall shape and width of it. I will definitely consider refretting it in the future. The thin mahogany body is nice because it's light and balances well, and is comfortable to wear and play for long periods of time.

Can It be considered a set Neck with no dovetail joint or tang? From what I could see It looks like a bolt on
@oldsledpurgatory3595
@oldsledpurgatory3595 7 месяцев назад
Well, it's glued in now. This kit is designed to have the neck permanently installed with glue, but it could be bolted on as well. Thanks for watching. Have a great day.!

RU-vid knows I've been looking at these things! I've been considering getting one just as a shortcut to a fun V project. I love the headstock they went with for the kit

I had been thinking the same thing. Decided to give this one a shot because it looked pretty simple, and so far it has been. Should have a video of the assembled guitar in a few days. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day!

I know, right? Eyes are gettin' old. Was hoping to get something done on it this summer but a large family of Yellow Jackets has taken over the parts sled. Hopefully get something done on it this fall. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day!

@oldsledpurgatory3595 why dont you just swap the good 96 parts onto what the 97 needs. Way easier imo

@@MidnightPolaris800Well, unfortunately that '97 chassis is bent, twisted, and basically junk (the right side radius arm mount was driven back and up about an inch when someone apparently landed an epic jump at some point). The engine and suspension are the only good parts on it. It's seen some pretty serious abuse by somebody other than me. The '96 is in much better condtion.

i got a green one a few days ago and so far i'm loving it. maybe with these budget guitars it's partly that some copies are better than others? there is a big break angle on the low E string. i like buying from a local store where i can purchase one i've had a chance to play. i don't think sweetwater does their inspection on inexpensive guitars?

Yeah, I think Sweetwater pretty much leaves the inspection up to the person who puts the guitar in the box at the factory, and some of them are definitely better than others. Mine had the same problem with the low E string, and I had to make some modifications to the headstock to fix it. I have a video up on my channel explaining what i did to correct that issue as well as some other mods that I made to it. And yes, purchasing a guitar in person is almost always preferable, although I've had pretty good luck buying a few online (knock on wood). Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day!
