I have a guess, since radagon is the father as you say. Mesmer was the child concieved out of wed lock prior to the union of the marikas first elden lord. A bastard child. In Geroge RR Martins lore bastard children are lowest of the low with serpents, and serpents might represent that unholyness of unions by the hornsent where they have no arms or legs they or horns, they are the lowest of the low. Glad someone found the crucible jars made Marika perfect saint hood too btw. I think Marika was radagon already and sired a bastard children with the glomight queen.
It is pretty clear that Radagon is the father of Messmer, he is redhaired, his name begins with an M and he is cursed like Miquella and Malenia who are also the children of Radagon/Marika. Melina would also fit into this category. If Messmer was the son of Radagon and the Gloam Eyed Queen he'd still be Marikas biological son, as we all should know at this point that Radagon is Marika.
I had a theory that the subjugation and torture of the shamans may of been because of midra and the frenzied flame. Marika was also tortured and turned into a saint as a result of this. Marika was given her 2 fingers, maybe Nanaya or Midra was given a 3 fingers. Would also explain why none of them have horns even if their subjects did.
Coming back to this vid as its one of my absolute favs in the post-SotE era. Just saw a video saying "maybe GEQ was Marika's twin 🤔" based on almost nothing and i needed to have my faith in people restored
All the flame incantations with The O” sounds to me more like a chant. You remember when you first start a character and the deep voice is praying 🤲🏽 for you tarnished to rise and return … im still wondering who that character is that prayed.
Your explanation Marika's divine connection to the scadutree roots and the fingers, and Egle's connection to trees, got me thinking about the minor erdtrees. There are 11 of them. If you don't count Messmer, who she hid away in a place with no minor erdtrees, I believe Marika has 11 children.
In indonesia, the impostor was translated as "Kera Tumpai" Or roughly translated as long arm monkey. I remember in the cinema go kong has a trouble fighting him. Would be so interesting to see his story
The serpents were the carriers of primordial abyssal fire. It represents life and death intertwined in the natural way. Marika disrupting the natural order at the divine gate (after killing the giant white serpent we see in the trailer and pulling out its rune from its eye) twisted it and made reality unnatural. This made the the primordial flame of life and death into gold (immortality) and black flame (destined death). Red hair is representative of the that primordial flame. Radagon seems like such an abused and self hating character and it makes sense why he sees his hair as a curse when he's been manipulated by Marika
Man, I love finding Elden Ring videos that make me subscribe to the channel within the first few minutes. Very well thought-out video, and love the presentation. I think you're 100% right that she had a definitive connection to the hornsent via the braid/helix.. Interestingly enough, this is supported by the Erdtree Guiardian's spear, which has a helix on the blade portion. I caught this in another creator's video last week, and in addition to the Erdtree Guardian's having similar hair to the Shaman's....well, it defintely got me thinking. The helix also makes an appearance on the Serpent Slaying Spear that we use against Rykard. Also quite interesting is that the statue of the helix joining two people together in Enir-Ilim, is also kind of represented by the columns in Enir-Ilim, and in Rykards boss room. In the former, we see a sort fo braid almost "tying" depictions of people to the column., We see the latter in Rykard's boss room, except it's a serpent tying the bodies to the column. There are also masses of petrified bodies in Rykard's boss room - similar to those found in Enir-Ilim/Radahn's boss arena, and Night's Sacred Ground. Definitely think this has something to do with DNA. The obvious Helix element, but also how DNA expresses diffferent genes in different entities. Really plays into the whole divinity of the spiral and life, being made "in his image", the Crucible blending together and expressing different traits, etc. I don't know what the implication is, but Fromsoft doesn't do these thingas by mistake. I definitely think there is a connection to be made by these helices being present. And sorry if you mentioned this already in your Braids video, I haven't gotten there yet!
Im definitely an advocate that the seduction and betrayal was of the gloam eyed queen. She had her god skin apostles, and she weilded thr power of the god slaying blade. Marika would have had to betray her as she would have posed the biggest threat. But also, the god slaying sword said that once it was sealed the true power of the black flame was lost.
I once saw (can't recall where) a theory where Marika is the Gloam Eyed Queen... The speculation being how convoluted identity can be in Elden Ring (like Miquella and St. Trina for example) Also how the finger crone tells us the rune of death was 'plucked' from the Elden Ring... So to imply the gloam eye (similar to Melina's - who promises to deliver destined death) was plucked from Marika by Maliketh.
I started learning about monkey god and the journey to the west in this animation made in 1960s ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a88hCqFbNLk.htmlsi=IBct1keBJgyGlB9w
