Brainspotting is a powerful and effective therapeutic tool that gets to the root cause of issues. While I cannot guarantee an outcome, I would say if you haven't tried it, you have nothing to lose and the possibility of improvement.
I'm curious, if the left eye was " more bothered" but then covering up the right eye was now making the left eye the sole eye, how did this now become the resource eye as she felt more calm only using that left eye?
Great question. If you are a fellow practitioner, I would refer you to Phase 2 training where single eye BSP is taught. If you are interested in learning more about BSP, I am happy to chat with you about my attunement and suggestion :)
I did some brainspotting work. Every time she got to this one spot, I just started crying uncontrollably. Nothing really going on upstairs - just overwhelmed emotionally. She didn't ask me a lot of questions. She just let me cry it out. There was more than one spot where this happened. Lots of trauma here. Also a mental health practitioner. Do you see this much? Any suggestions? I feel like I have more work to do. Thanks for the interesting demo...
Hey Tim. It sounds like you were doing some really powerful work!!! Healing is no joke, lol. As t your question, when you are on a brain spot, you are accessing trauma in the subcortical brain. When the practitioner talks to you, you go back into the prefrontal cortex. Much of brainspotting is done without interference- but you can ALWAYS ask for what you need, so if you need more talking or questions, definitely ask :) There can be many many brain spots to process on and through. So much of our wounding lies in the subconscious (subcortical) space. I would encourage finding a provider who you feel comfortable expressing emotion with, as that is how we heal, through feeling the sensations in the body that come up as a result of stored trauma. I hope that helps!
Thank you kindly, Anita for doing this for us to share. Sometimes when I do brain spotting with my therapist, I wonder if I'm doing it right (am I feeling enough?). Your demonstration was reassuring. Thank you also Kim for the work you are doing.
Thank you for sharing, Kim. I am glad it was reassuring for you. It's easy to second guess ourselves, especially with something new. Keep communicating your concerns/questions with your therapist. You're doing great!
Great video! I checked out your website and facebook and love the whole concept of "captivating confidently". I'm not a coach, but I write a lot of about the awkward art of self improvement. Seems like your coaching could be a fun experiment
