decided to get into optcg this Week bc i got ST09 as a present. Deck sucks but i decided to join the prerelease tournament tomorrow. With your videos ill hope not to get last :D
I really enjoy how you explain your thoughts, and while I didn't play Saka, I'm interested to see where you fall as the 07 and ban changes come. Thanks!
I run similar but I still run the 4 still of 2 cost sanji to take a life and become an almost 8k swing and if i never play it it’s still a solid 2k counter. Do you recommend I still keep them ?
You have some options as mentioned in the video: 1. Cycle Kikunojo into life over and over again. 2. Use Chibi Ace to transform into Big Ace buffing your leader +2000 3. Cycle any other Rush or Trigger character into life
It's a strong card and solid consideration. However, in my testing I can't find spot for him because: 1. For unblockable Diable Jambe is more efficient. 2. For Rush finisher Kid & Killer brings more value. 3. For 5 cost character on curve Marco sticks on board and threatens 7k every turn going forward in mu without bottom decking. If you decide to play Rush Luffy, let me know how it works for you!
great video! had to resleeve my zoro cards after this lmao. in general, when do you want to swing immediately with low cost characters, and when do you want to build board?
Matchup dependant and hand as well. Problem with Zoro is that it's very case by case deck as we play on low curve and have a lot of options. For example if you open hand like Buggy, Buggy, Magura, Makino vs decks like Sakazuki. You can put a lot of pressure if you go 2nd -> T1: Buggy, Buggy; T2: 3x 7k swing using buffing characters or even check 6k with leader and if they take follow with 7k and 8k. But as a rule of thumb I would say build a board for the first 2-3 turns. Once you took 2 life you start swiging so your cheap characters tank enemy hits. Also in a matchups where you play 5 cost Marco on curve you will most likely start swinging Turn 4 with your characters - for example Yellow matchups.
It's obvious what happened, he didn't realize or just forgot that Marco was a 6k attacker and misplayed his Otama trying to clear it. I would also argue he shouldn't have used leader effect 1st turn without shambling into something that ramps Don!! back, but that wasn't the worst thing in the world.
if I can give you a piece of advice I would turn up the volume of the voice and turn down the music slightly because it overpowers your voice and you can understand very little, otherwise nice video
Another card I would recommend grabbing as a single is Charlotte Compote. She is a 7c 9k yellow beat stick with counter that a lot of enel lists in the east are starting to make use of
Great point! As it's "half set" cards should be super affordable as singles. I'm not a fan of buying sealed product for playinging to begin with, but I feel like this set should be priced a little bit different (cheaper) so the ones who open it have better EV per box.
Great question! 2k Luffy takes a slot of Chibi Luffy as a search target for Garp, so you can use him instead. However, you can replace him with any other 2k counter like Bege or even Sanji for some life manipulation. There is also possibility of more aggressive approach and cut him for 1k counter trigger character like Cracker to contest 5 life leaders easier or even Smoothie in case your opponent tries to starve you from life cards.
Currently on my list I play b2 hiyori but I don't know what two K counter to place for the remaining 2 hiyori (I already play four copies of satori and yamato
Video is targeted mostly for Sakazuki leader. In my opinion, in current meta Perona has favorable matchup only against Moria, hence Borsalino is a good pick. Also playing Borsalino in Perona helps with Brannew consistency as we are playing 2 different searchers.
Hey raccoon good video, i am also looking to improve my sakazuki build and feel the same about the 4c borsalino's impact on games, on the rare occasion it can save you but usually your rebacca gets way more favlue any way and playing a sabo along with it means morio cannot kill rebecca anyway that turn, so i think that i will also start testing with 2 7c borsalinos because they seem to have a larger impact especially on your 9 don turn where you can easily remove a moria with helmeppo and stage. Keep up the videos :)
Nice video! The thing about Ice Age in the Stage list is that Stage enables Sakazuki to run more copies of Ama No Murakumo and less copies of Lucci (and it works wonders in this meta where bottom decking is so much stronger than KOing), so your play on 10 Don will often be Moria into Hound Blaze or Murakumo. Since you can't fit Ice Age in those Moria + removal spells turns the card loses a lot of value, and that's why it's usually removed from the Stage lists. Add to this the fact that regular Saka usually runs 3 Hina but Stage Saka really wants 4 since you are only running 2 Lucci and you need bodies on board (plus Hina is a lot stronger with Stage and a total of 7-8 2 cost removal spells) and the fact that Kuzan is a win condition against Katakuri (especially if you dont run Ice Age) and the ratios are explained :D Also the main thing about Stage vs Eruption is that Stage is really good at dealing with 4 costs (-1 Stage -1 Saka every turn) and the meta right now is filled with 4 costs that hate being bottom decked: Perona, Hogback, Absalom, Lucci, Borsalino, Kuzan (Lucci and Kuzan because of 8C Moria), Kikunojo, Sanji (doesn't really care about bottmdeck) and the whole RP Law deck. Also 8 cost is a much more common benchmark (Moria) and so -1-1-4 puts it in 2 Range. A cheaper card that bottom decks instead of removing is better in this format AND Stage allows to hit things consecutively and more comfortably than Eruption in this meta. PS with the Stage build on 9 Don Turn you can use Saka effect, use Stage effect, play another Stage and use it's effect (wich is similar to playing Tsuru) into Moria, it's not nearly as good as Eruption but it gets the job done :D
Great video. Nice content. By the bay have you seen a brasilian player version (Almeida)? He got second place in latam regional using stage build plus 2 ice ages. Could you analyse that build? Thanks in advance
Yes, I saw the list. It's quite popular in EN scene right now to play 2x 4c Borsalino because of how popular Moria leader is, usually Stage Saka players cut 1x Brannew and 1x 7c Borsalino for that. Ice Age is smart inclusion for going first curve same as in RJ case but I'm not a fan of completely cutting 7c Borsalino. If we put Ice Age in a deck to have better 9 Don turn going 1st, I think it also makes sense to keep 7c Borsalino to play him on curve so our opponent can't play Moria and remove him (unless they already have stage if playing mirror). However he is for sure better and more accomplished player than me so I might not see some line that was his reasoning for cutting 7c Borsalino, also overall Stage Saka prefers to go 2nd so maybe he just bet on winning a dice roll or having slightly weaker 7 Don turn. Would be great to hear from him his reasoning behind the list! But as always in person testing and comfort with a deck is better than theorycrafting, and sometimes top players just put in cards that "feel right" to them, as long as they win with them it's worth it for sure!
Price: The cheapest from top players as of the moment of recording - 35 euro per hour Time: I'm not sure what to rate here. Session was planned for 2 hrs and I don't think any time was wasted. Game Understanding: My target for this session was to check with more experienced player if my understanding of a deck is correct in certain situations. After the session and rewatching the recording I was able to go 7-2 on Krefeld regionals but also each match I lost I was able to analyse and learn from it on my own. But to sum up as I always say, first improve as much as you can on your own. Then if you hit a wall buy coaching if you want to progress as you might not notice everything in your gameplay, but only if you can afford it and from proven top players. Also define what are your expectations from coaching/what you want to focus on so you don't end up disappointed or waste time.
I'm currently trying a list pretty similar to yours (coming back from stage build, i didn't feel than that were a fit for me really), only changes are 2 lucci for 2 ama and 4 rebecca for 3 brannew (cause i have only 2 lucci, i dont need 4 brannew really). It runs pretty well, yesterday tried it for first time and i got to 3-1 in locals, only loosing to kata because a last life blocker lol. Hope you could share with us how are you evolving your deck after the coach and after trying it in locals. Ty for all your content bro. Grettings from Chile
Thank you for your input. After Krefeld Regionals I tested many different ratios and even Stage archetype. In next video I will probably touch on Stage topic so stay tuned as I think both builds are good and have pros and cons depending on meta read and a player.
There are mixed opinions on some matchups so I will post from my experience (Sakazuki can go 1st or 2nd anyway so we can steal the opponent's curve if needed): vs Moria: go 1st to steal the curve + depending on build 6 Don is Moria's worst turn (some players argue to go 2nd but I don't see any viable argumentation for it) vs Kata: go 2nd to have more breathing room but it's still a race (there is an argument to go 1st but I'm not a fan) vs Mirror: go 2nd for better curve + extra card vs GY Yamato: go 1st to avoid getting jammed T2 but there is also an argument to go 2nd if you mulligan for Rebecca + 2k counters as said by Roberto in the video vs UP Reiju: go 2nd to avoid Ichiji T2 vs Enel: go 2nd, Moria on curve into handshake vs GB Perona: go 2nd to steal the curve vs RP Law: go 2nd for more breathing room + better answers to double bodies I think they are the most popular mu in current meta, let me know if you need anything else.
I wouldn't look at it that way. Ranked is a great place to play vs people near your own skill level. If he was playing with a coach to rank up, that would be messed up but he is ranking to get more games in with higher skill players and in ranked people are willing to wait for you to think. The rank system was built to get more competitive games in to prepare for events. I could be wrong. But I don't think it's a big deal.
There is no real reward to being a high rank in the sim though, and if he plays two or three games with a coach really well and then plays worse later on he will stabilize in rank anyway. The real reason you play ranked is because people are more serious, regular sim just isn't competitive enough for a coaching session since people make really dumb plays and get mad.
