Congrats for your epic ride and thanks for the video!! I will join the Rift this year and found your reportage super useful to prepare myself physically, technically and mentally further more!
1 hour before the ride ? that seems like a mistake honestly...you are loosing bloodflow to digestion... you should fuel with a strong dinner night before, and try to ride it fasted with sugar water... or have a breakfast and leave atleast 2 to 4 hours before starting your ride
your stem is neutral short, and the drop wide you need larger and negative stem and narrow drop, a 200 or 250mm negative stem may do it , you may even end winning the race. Plus your saddle is too high.
Thank you for the video Charles. Very good tests. Please tell me I might have missed it: did you also decreased the saddle height by 1cm when going from the 165 to 175? Also vise versa. The reason I'm asking is that saddle height is one of the major indicators of the ability to generate power on the saddle. If you didn't change saddle height with the crank length change, can you redo the test in a future video? It's really interesting and a hot topic these days. Also, if you can get your hands on two cranks 175 and 165 can you also try that outside? Im just throwing ideas for future videos here.
Write wrong. Just realized from your footage that you did all your sprints 100% standing. You can try seated tests too. Don't forget to decrease saddle height by 1cm when going from 165 to 175
I got a new bike and i wasted 1 hour on limit screws and cable length trying to adjust the rear derailleur wondering why it doesn't shift properly with them perfectly set, till i realised the problem was at the b screw😂
Why not just replace the shimano pulley wheels with same size pulley wheels with ceramic bearings, eg. BBB rollerboys or similar. You won't gain weight that way?
It looks fine. Most carbon bikes are all looking the same so I think a more important bit of knowledge to know when making a choice is types of carbon and how it's used in key areas, and the molds they come out of. These are things the manufacturers say are trade secrets. Which is why I'd never buy a carbon bike.
😮 been waiting for this bike. This exact one!!!!!! Have had trouble nailing one down but will have one. Oh yes, i will have one. For everyone not familiar with Felt, they are NO JOKE! Super high quality, no shilling, no bs, just a damn good brand!
I really like my Bonts, however it's a bit annoying that there aren't any dealer here in Montreal. I've had very bad issues with two pairs now, had the Vaypor+ where one of the BOA dial ripped off from the shoe and can't repair them and just now, with the Helix that replaced them, I can't thread the BOA cable through the eyelet in the channel that wraps arounds. Make it very hard to have some decent service :( Still, I got an other pair of used Vaypor S as a backup set if anything happens.
The 23 isn’t available in double wide sizes, so I went with the Vaypor+, also doesn’t wrap the foot as much as the S and I got the kangaroo leather. Bont and Lake are the only companies that make a wide last for their wide sizes, my opinion is Lake for comfort and Bont for performance Check out all the options on Bont semi-custom too
I used to be a Lake diehard fan but wanted something lighter.. Had the Lake CX238 and CX241, this one fits just as comfortable for the width, and STIFFER and LIGHTER by farrrrrr (those using Lakes will know they are not the lightest).. The upper is a lot thinner, not real leather but feels like leather, very pliable and well ventilated for long rides (i do around 250-300kms a week).. And just so easy to put power down to the pedal on this, very recommended!!
I also have this camera and use it for recording cycling content;I find that the watching the camera's videos are best suited for small screens (laptops and smaller); on big screens, the videos are too pixelated.
Charles, thanks to you I discovered Bont shoes a couple of years ago. Love the Vaypor S and Vaypor G. Just last week received my first pair of Vaypor 23. I kid you not, the moment I put them on I was like “oohh wow, these are like comfy slippers. Nice.” They basically haven’t come off my feet since. My Vaypor S pair are giving me jealous looks. That all said, I have to echo everything you said in your review here, especially the bit about the locked in feeling being in no way compromised compared to the Vaypor S. They feel locked in every bit as much as the S and G models. And so light and buttery smooth feeling. Bont really knocked it out of the park with these. By the way, the garage is looking sick dude. Looove the red under cabinet LEDs. That reflection effect off your workbench is next level. Nice work man.
I don't post much anymore, that's why! :') Would love a strong comeback, but I'm a bit lost on where I'm taking my RU-vid channel. Currently doing most of my effort on Instagram
