HRE doen't have the quality reputation of bbs for thier flow formed lineup, but they do have a good reputation. This surprised me a bit, but I believe you.
I bent a whole set of TE37, on a Ford Fiesta. Yes, I ran R compound and I tracked them. I hit curbs and even went off track. I drove them on the street in San Francisco. Was I surprised they bent, no. Did I make a RU-vid video complaining about it? Also no.
I was going to get HRE RC103 wheels but have now decided to get Forgeline. I know the RC103’s are not flow formed but can’t trust HRE’s customer service. If I want flow formed I will get Vossen.
Going through the same issue right now. And to make things worse they dont make the ff10 in my size now and i cant get a single replacement. Dont know what to do now
thats why machined parts are better. I work in a cnc machine shop and not one part has broken when dropped. theyll get. dented and scrapped, never snap though.
So the problem is? I’m no metallurgist, but my basic understanding is brittle=hard, which in an oil pump gear would give you lower/slower wear than a softer metal. The inner oil pump gear would not shock that outter gear like the way you dropped it, so what is the point of the video I’m missing? Happy to be proven wrong, just don’t see the point in fixing something that ain’t broke.
There’s definitely a balance of the two properties and a happy medium somewhere. But I’d imagine that it’s more desirable to have something that deforms rather than shatters. If it deforms, there’s a possibility of shavings going through the motor which at least have a potential of passing through without issue. If it shatters, you now have 0 oil pressure and large chunks of metal guaranteed to damage the engine
That’s usually true when quenching a specific alloy aka the harder it becomes the more brittle it becomes But Depending on the steel alloy you pick, you can use something that is both hard and malleable (which will deform before breaking) I imagine the aftermarket pumps are made from an alloy that will both be as hard as the stock pump whilst at the same time being malleable (or tough enough) to allow for some deformation before snapping at the cost of using a more expensive material that is harder to machine.

They're poor man's HREs. Aka not real HREs... they are made from a cast in like Taiwan/China ... Def in no way a reflection of HREs REAL wheels ... I have their 3-pc Competition Series C105s on my TT 1300rwhp C5R Formula Drift Car and they are breath taking and have zero complaints (although a full set of those in 3-pc will run ya about $13K/$14K) which is why as soon as I saw the ad for these for the new C8 corvette, I laughed my ass off to see that HRE came out with a full set of wheels for 3K when the average HRE wheel costs 3,000 to 5,000 dollars each ... I dunno who told you they were forged, but they lied to you ... sorry but at the end of the day, they aren't real HREs which is probably why they didn't wanna stand behind them bc they are probably made in some factory by child laborers makin $0.10 cents/hr... ya get what ya pay for (and as much as $3k sounds like alot and it is for most other conpanies but for HRE, that woulda been the forst red flag to me in addition to the fact that they came up with another name for them so that they couldn't be considered a genuine ✌🏻Real✌🏻 HRE wheel and this was basically their attempt to make a rim that looks good but doesn't have the performance or their standard of quality as their real forged/ monoblock rims have... it says right in their description online that they are made in Taiwan/China and are basically CAST outta molten pot metal in some Bullspit heating and cooiling process... so you would think if they are formed in some weird ass heating and cooling process on the cheap, i would imagine they can be easiliy DE-FORMED in a heating and drastic cooling process esp in a sport like drifting where you are heating up your brakes and tires to crazy ass temps that can sometimes get to the point of starting a fire, big surprise that these wheels deformed after drifting them and putting them in the back and forth motions of pulling lateral Gs that most wheels never even see or endure... They are car show wheels at best for pple that dont have the wallet but wanna feel like a baller at the local car show when other folk walk by and see a decent looking wheel and then see an HRE center cap basically 💁🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️... its worth saving and springin for a real set of their wheels.... or go with a set of Forgelines... can't go wrong either way 💁🏻♂️... just seeing the price of those compared to real HREs, shoulda raised some flags... thats why they are called Flow Form, by HRE so their name isn't all the way attached to em 😂 .... honestly, for 2k more and for a gorgeous looking set if wheels that can handle drifting, you shoulda went with a set of Forgelines or CCWs or just gone with a set of beater wheels like as you said on your other car ... we all live and learn though .... tough brakes though man n sorry for your loss to say the least 😬👩🦽💥.... check out the Forgeline SO3P's, they will look killlerrr on your Mustang 👍✌🏻
Sorry to hear about the wheel. It you need better tire and wheel equipment. Important part of your sport. I can see why you didn’t buy the $2,000 wheel.
when i got a flat on a 2008 BMW 550i with original 19" rims i could barely lift the wheel because of how thick the aluminum was. looks like HRE decided to save on material cost. it looks very thin. at least it's just a wheel - Lucid motors makes the car CHASSIS out of wafer thin aluminum castings so you would have to throw out the whole $100,000 car !
Too bad but in fairness, you do not see a lot of other similiar complaints. You also admit to abusing the car/wheels. The offset is an issue. Very high heat, heavy vehicle, excessive braking was an issue. The sparse SPOKE design is inherently less strong since there is less supportive material. $3k is a tough nut to swallow. Curious- did you pay via CC? Have you explored that option? In fairness, they would have been smart to take car of you and offer a stronger wheel for that high performance application. They screwed up IMHO. They might also sue you over this video as you will negatively impact their business/sales with your claims. Just be prepared for that. They also could win.
They could only sue if I was lying about anything in this video. There is not a single lie said, also this is essentially a review of their wheels. If they ever choose to sue, I will gladly make sure EVERYTHING is public knowledge. So lets see how that works out for them.

Your situation, vehicle, driving style (aggressive on public roads), tires sizes are all unique factors. Many people never have a problem with these wheels. Your situation is highly unique. They would simply not be in business if it was a very common issue. The wheel forums would be screaming about these wheels, yet they are not. Your personal experience was terrible- no doubt and you have a right to be personally upset. Look, I don't have a dog in this fight and I did not invent the rainy day. I am just keeping it 100% real with you. Do whatever you want but don't be suprised if you get a call from legal. You are making blanketed statements that could do harm to the brand. Most likely it would be a seize and cease letter first. I was rooting for you- replacing your wheels does seem like the right thing to do but it is what it is.

I am fairly well connected in the car community, and I own a automotive repair shop, also I am a professional driver. If they would like to sue me, please let them. I promise with every atom in my body, in the end they will be losing 100X more money than I ever will.
One of them does show was hit, I can see the bend. 4:44 there is a slight bend on the inner rim. The left side (if using the white box as reference, near the left corner the box). Where you put the finger, lets say is 8 o'clock, so about 9 o clock.
Thanks for the video. Recently purchased a 68K KM 370Z which had CSC replaced under warranty by Nissan, so hope mine won't have to be replaced for some time. Your video let's me know what I'm in for when the time comes. (From Australia).
Same issue with my BMW oem wheels without hitting a pothole and they're $1000 ea, 30 series stock sidewall... Considered these flow forms but looks like bad idea also
Well considering both turn wheels different ways. Hard to tell true angle. Cause wheels dont turn the same amount both ways. Id have to see 2nd clip turn out not in. But id both are bmw lol
