if you look at the subframe and the bottom of the car.. you will find at least maybe 4 UNUSED holes that line up thru the subframe and up into the bottom of the car.. those are for alignment pins to install the subframe straight with the body.
@@AlexDrifts take a look at the mechanics advice answer i posted there are delron sleeves available already to slide into the bushings to center them.. i linked it over at mechanicadvice on reddit..
Yea they are to align the cradle to the body due to manufacturing variances..nearly every late model cradle I've worked on from at least the old 2004 gto's to the latest dodges has been that way..both gm and dodge have factory tools to align them and I'm sure there's one out there for ford's too probably..generally you can get away with just measuring it out to get it centered though but you'll almost always need an alignment without the tool.
I believe it has to do with crash testing. There is a page in all data that explains the bolts are supposed to shear in the event of a large rear end impact.. I do not know why but I am betting there was crash data to support it.
I need help. I lowered my subframe and now the screws won’t go in straight. I think I accidentally forced one in there. What can I do to make sure and be confident that the screws are in there straight?
if they are crossed threaded make sure the whole thread isnt damaged, go buy a re thread tool and chase the threads in body and buy new subframe bolts from ford they are cheap as hell DO NOT FORCE THE BOLTS BACK IN THE SUBFRAME WILL FALL OFF!
@@AlexDrifts man thank you for the fast response. To be on the safe side, I will buy 4 new subframe bolts. When I put the subframe back together and drove it, I hear a clunk sound when going over bumps. How do I know if the bolts are going in straight and my subframe is straight? I have a 2020 gt as well
@@christlike_5.043 the only way to align the subframe is have an alignment shop do it or buy the BMR subframe collars they are on our website lspec.com
Hi Alex, just found your vid. By any chance do you have the dimensions of the four sleeves needed for correct alignment on the bolts. I’m a machinist so I can make some.
