Low FX does work for my rtx 3080ti though. It decreases the power and temperature at 60fps 2.25x resolution.

Funny thing, I am on a CPU Bottleneck (4070ti with an 11500k) and I still lose frames with the ray traced shadows for almost no gain.

You shouldn't be bottlenecking an 11500k in Diablo IV unless you're running a lot of CPU intense processes in the background.

@@ALBUPerformance I meant in general, that CPU will bottleneck the 4070ti. Truthfully I don't get good FPS on Diablo 4 normally. I'm also not sure what I should be getting. I run a G-sync/V-sync setup thru my Nvidia Control Panel but I'm not always getting the 160fps my monitor can do in 2k.

As a Diablo player, I found ray tracing to be a critical feature of the game. Naaaa, it is not; I could care less; I am too busy enjoying the game mechanics. 😂😂

dynamic ray tracing in isometric game with static camera is pointless. PoE2 uses pre-baked RT in their game as GI is static anyway. (There's no change in time of day etc.)

Where do you have this information? PoE is using screen spaced shadows and GI because you cannot see the backside anyway they also don‘t use the deferred pipeline like diablo 4. I also don‘t see how they pre baking if the layout of the level is changing due to the procedural map layout system.

@@Schizm1 I watched it again, they saying they don‘t bake any GI cause of the procedural level system. They also don’t bake shadows for obvious reasons and reflection baking makes also no sense. I dont think a game like diablo is a good idea to test Raytracing, Like take a look at cyberpunk whit PT on and off, its night and day difference.

I agree. I originally made the Diablo 4 benchmark video for every setting except Ray Tracing. I then discovered many people we're unsure if they should turn on RT. So by popular request the video was made.

I think like this, from less useful to most useful: shadows, reflections, ambient/lighting/global illumination However I'm still convinced RT shadows can really make a difference in some games, like in metro exodus for example.

Ray Tracing is very impressive and worth the performance cost in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth Wukong. The reason I made this video is because RT in Diablo 4 is a joke, and also because it was a heavily requested benchmark video.

Why would you even want to play it above 120 FPS at 4k? It is not really a joke. Go test outside on the sun and other light sources. Especially leaves with multiple light sources during night. You may even notice real-life pixel shadows as they call them. I do believe ray tracing on PC is good, but for this game at least, on console is not good. Probably it will be good on PS5 Pro, but we are yet to see...

I never said RT is a joke. I said RT in Diablo IV is a joke. I've also said I believe RT is incredible in Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth Wukong among many other titles.

Have a RX580 and with these settings FPS improved a lot without losing any visual quality , everything is the same basicaly but FPS improved especially in Dungeons / PIT , etc. Thanks for the tips ! , Liked and Subscribed ! 👍 PS: Whats the major difference between AMD FSR 1.0 or 2 ? Any recommendation there ? , thanks👍

Glad to hear my video improved your game! FSR 1.0 performs particularly well at higher 1440p and 4K resolutions, but lacks visual fidelity at lower resolutions such as 1080p. FSR 2.0 greatly improves on that, offering better image quality across all resolutions making it the clear choice. Unfortunately FSR 2.0 compatibility isn't great on older AMD cards. Your RX580 is kind of on the edge for this and will run 2.0 but if you notice any issues then lower it to 1.0

RT can be impressive but very few titles showcase what RT can do and they are mostly single player titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth Wukong. Unfortunately, many titles implement RT just to be on the supported list but really shouldn't have RT in the first place like D4.

Diffused shadows actually look better and more realistic, not worse as you imply, but i suppose it’s just a taste thing.

In reality, light naturally diffuses, creating a softer shadow. However, when game graphics make the shadow of a tree trunk, a player's feet, or the base of a grass blade in sharp focus while the tree canopy, player's head, or tips of grass are extremely blurred, this portrayal is far from realistic. In fact, it's quite unrealistically exaggerated. This isn't a problem with RT. This is due to the developers poor implementation of RT. Try a game like Black Myth Wukong with RT turned ON and you'll notice the diffused shadows are realistic.

Do you try to lower AO settings with RT? At some point there i have heavy artifacts wit low AO + rt on, when i saw it i cant believe they push it to live. Dont think they fix it yet its here for months already, they just dont care. Who use low ao and rt on right? But wtf you have options with some combinations that just dont work, nah who care, just buy addon and skins, don't be a show-off

The flickering effect you get from Medium Ambient Occlusions is completely separate from RT. It always happens. The Medium AO setting should be removed from the game as its not working as intended. I didn't double up the footage to show the tree trunk is slightly more in focus, just like the night time clip. Honestly the diffusion effect is too strong to be realistic looking as well.

theres a fundamental issue with how you view the shadows, specifically the foliage ones. shadows that are cast from an object further from the ground will be much less sharp. for example the branches of a tree compared to the root of a tree. the high ray traced foliage shadows from the tree IS CORRECT, the highest non traced shadow is incorrect.

am i the only one who caps there frames at monitor refresh rate? my fps never changes literally locked at 144 LOL

Even with fps beyond your monitor refresh rate, your visual latency (aka input lag) will continue to reduce. Think of it this way. If you have a 60hz monitor and 60 fps. The first frame displayed on your monitor will be frame 1/60 (one frame every 16.67 ms). But if you produce 120fps on a 60hz monitor the first frame displayed on your monitor will be frame 2/120 (a new frame is rendered by the GPU every 8.33 ms). Essentially half the frames will not be displayed but the frames that are displayed on the monitor will have been generated more recently by your GPU (in the example above 8.33 ms sooner). This reduction in visual latency of course has diminishing returns but is very noticeable in the above example especially in competitive shooters. Then there is the smoothness and feel. It's very true that you won't feel going from 144hz to 240hz the way you do 60hz to 144hz. However, if you try a modern 500hz it starts to feel so fluid it's almost real. Mind you it's hard to get 500 FPS in realistic games but DLSS and frame generation are getting us there.

I tried on Helldivers 2, and it looks great. That's the only game I can recommend to use raytracing.

I stopped playing Diablo 4 when horizon forbidden west and ghost of Tsushima came out for PC. Today im still playing Horizon Forbidden West and have finished it many times over. Diablo 4 is too mind numbing to get back into for me and I hope the expansion will make it better and worth going back to.

i use titanwolf mousepads from amazon since they are cheap and for the price extremly good. sure some mousepads may perform slightly better but its not worth it to me. and since those are so cheap i just throw them in the washing machine. so far they have not fallen apart. the cloth is still sticking to the rubber and the seam is still perfect. and even if at some point the pad falls apart i just get a new one since they are so cheap. i had good mousepads but they are not worth the money. i have 2 times the same pad to cycle when i throw one in the laundry. i believe i have washed the same pad 3 times so far without any problems. just dont wash too hot

i know you only meant good but who has a cpu bottleneck realisticly when facing the decision to use raytracing. like who paires a decent gpu that would make raytracing viable with a cpu that is struggling hard in diablo 4. sure its theoreticly possible and i bet some ultra edge cases exist in the world but its not even noteworthy honestly

When I was younger I used to be guilty of upgrading my GPU to something high end because I couldn't afford a new mobo/cpu/etc. That's likely not as common as I think it is. But also keep in mind when you see CPU at 30-40% that is an average of all of the cores, when realistically the first core sits above that 90%+ and those last few cores sit at like 5%.

@@ALBUPerformance i get it. when i was younger and i had to prioritise what parts to spend more money on i also would mainly focus on the gpu. still a raytracing viable gpu these days cost alot of money and when you can afford that its very unlikely to have like ages old system. am4 also provides a damn cheap way to get decent cheap cpu power on the low end. your cpu is capable of over 350 fps in that scene on max settings. so to be cpu bottlenecked in a way that it would hinder a good gameplay experience, lets say you have around and or under 60 fps from a cpu bottleneck to say you are meaningfully limited in a way that you would consider taking load of the cpu. sure 60 fps is not the pinackle of gaming but for diablo its very playble. to reach such low cpu bound framerates you would have to use propably something like a 2500k or even older (checked some cpu benches, a 4670k can already provide around 90 fps in diablo 4). that would mean pairing a raytracing viable gpu, which i would say start around a 3070, in many games that isnt even enough for good framerates without huge sacrifices. pairing something like a 3070 or better with a almost 14 year old midrange cpu. it for sure is possible and i wont say that there are still many wild 2nd 3rd and 4th gen intel cpu out there but i dont think many are paired with a raytracing viable gpu. i just checked and the 2500k is even the minimum required cpu for diablo 4. for most games the 2500k wont even have support anymore because of missing instruction sets. which makes it an even less likely pairing since for many modern games you cant use a 2500k anymore or only with workarounds. tldr cpu bottlenecks are no ones problem in diablo 4 kinda even if possible. only if you must have damn high framerates on very very old cpus

FSR 2.0 also has poor compatibility with older AMD cards, but that's not the case with your 6800XT.

I like to show my recommendations in detail which is hard for these. The main thing I need is some special equipment that would allow me to test/demonstrate certain things. I will most likely do videos on these in the future. In the meantime I'll leave you with my explanation for Reflex Low Latency because I think it's an important one to know. Reflex ON / Low Latency Boost reduces rendering latency. However, this requires your PC to keep up in real time without the use of any buffers. Basically, if you barely meet the required system specs for the particular game or the game isn't running very smooth to begin with. Then, reflex ON/Boost is pretty much guaranteed to either introduce micro stuttering, or make existing stuttering worse. To simplify it even more: 1) Reflex OFF: Use this is your game is not running smooth, or if you barely meet the "required" system specs for the game. 2) Reflex ON: Use this is you exceed the "recommended" system specs for the game and the game is running very smooth. 3) Reflex ON + Boost: Use this only if you greatly exceed the recommended system specs for the game. Note: If you notice any micro stuttering (or screen tearing) at all, reduce this setting. Otherwise turn it ON.

I get this a lot. Linus has a good video explaining this as to why he also has activate windows all the time. Basically we format and change hardware a lot for testing purposes which both cause the windows CD KEY to quickly become invalid as it considers it a "new pc" after only a couple of installs.

Honestly I find RT is just poorly implemented in multiplayer games. However you will find quite a few single player games where RT really shines - Cyberpunk 2077 being one of them. A lot of this comes down to how its implemented by the devs.
