My Name's Dave, and this is the home of VeeFour video blogs. This is a channel concentrating on the 2 wheeled doings of a man, and his variety of Motorcycles and peddle bikes
I’m sorry, but it was almost ten years ago now and it was an online company that I’ve only used on this one occasion. I may have been directed via Givi’s own website but I can’t be certain. Sorry
Personally I’ll always find a way to stretch my budget to get the bike I want, as I know all too well that I’ll wish I did later on. That said however, that two grand saving will pay your insurance and probably put fuel in the tank for a couple of years. A tough choice indeed
@@VeeFour I do very little mileage on the road these days. Will just be a toy. The Gen 2r in good condition would be perfect and is what I had started to look for, but seeing a few 765's about for the money they are has turned my head a bit lol
I am attending my training as a marshal for the new 2024 NW200 series on Saturday . Looking forwards to it . I raced for 10 Years and feel that it would be good to give something back . 👍👍👍
Really late to the party here but there isn't much info on the Bonneville Newchurch really. I think by 2015 these bikes were showing their age with hangovers from the early 2000s carbed models. I didn't even know it had a fast idle switch! It is interesting how much the Newchurch looks like a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 though, even down to the swept up exhausts rather than the standard Bonneville peashooters. Probably not the Bonneville for me overall, seems like it's worth going for a liquid cooled one instead.
Does the mounting hardware for the panniers come with the racks or with the panniers? I was thinking of getting racks from Mosko Moto to be sure they fit my soft cases but wanted to be sure I could also fit the Givi cases on the racks. So wanted to get an idea if the panniers have mounting hardware that I can then use to fit them on the racks from Mosko. Thanks.
Nice review. Here in OZ the 660 LAMS version is top of the learner range and holds its own on a motorway. Anything longer than 100KM without break is going to start to be a little uncomfortable seat wise but overall, as you said, a local, in this case nip to the shops and the beach with a half helmet is perfect.. not quite prepared to go the distance with storage but thats ok a fold up rucksack is enough for a few last minute items at the shops on the way back. Top bike even if the chain tensioner is a little rattly!
Thanks for your brilliant review I pick up my 1st triumph tiger 12 nxt week and after watching your vid you have convinced me I made the right choice over a multistage which the wife liked so happy biking chap thanks 😊
@VeeFour so looking forward to picking her up Fri even though the weather forecast is crappie Any suggestions on where I can get some engine bars please
Excellent review,Bang on the money with the tyres.Yes the horn position is a pain. Good riding advice with the std A & B modes.I was considering having mine remapted.?Could anyone advise me if that would be a way forward. I thoroughly enjoyed the review.I own a 2019 which is exactly the same bike, different number on the plate. Also like yourself I own a R1 Totally agree with your comparison. I found this on RU-vid September 2023 Bit late better than never.!! Have subscribed.👍
That’s very kind thank you. There’s various factors in play at the moment, mostly personal, but the reality is that I haven’t received any offers to test bikes since lockdown, and I’ve sold my track bike. As a result I’m completely out of ideas for new videos at the moment.
Thanks for asking after me and I’m still alive and occasionally riding my two bikes, probably not as much as I should but I keep their wheels turning. The channel is on a prolonged hiatus as no one is offering me any bikes to test, and I’ve nothing on my mind that I feel the need to vlog about. I’ve retired from track riding after selling the Gixer (for more than I paid for it..so bonus), as at 52 I’m starting to feel my age a bit plus I sold my car which was my towing work horse, and bought a small van that I converted into a stealth camper. I suppose I should knock a bit of an update vid together really, as quite a few things have happened over the last few years, so I’ll have a think 🤔
Nice review but why donyou have to ride on the oposite road on corners? Its not a racetrack, im a biker too and i dont understand how ignorant some other bikers can be. You dont own this streets just because youre on a sports bike. Just my 2c
It’s not ignorance, and you are allowed by law (in the UK) to use all of the road if it is safe to do so. When you saw me ride on the opposite side of the road during a corner, what you didn’t see on the video was where my eyes are focused and that I was able to see far enough ahead through the corner to see that the road ahead was clear and free from other road users or hazards. In ALL cases when I ride, I am able to stop safely on my side of the road in a distance that I can see to be clear. These are fundamental safe riding practices, and I was taught how to use them legally and safely as part of my former professional life. My 2c in return
Hey man, not sure if you still have this bike, but can you tell me the oil capacity on this thing? I'm not having not much luck finding it anywhere. I just guessed 2.9 L, but I may have gone over.
Thank you so much for this review! I don't know if you would've expected it to be useful for people 5 years later, but here we are. Tons of respectable information from a long time owner, and I also really like the down to earth point of view of the bike in general, and about the "lack" of some stuff that's on newer bikes. I've been riding bikes for 21 years now, but owned only sport bikes. I still have my Daytona 675 and I love it to death, I will keep it, but I started playing with the thought of getting into touring as well, and maybe ditching 4 wheels for the warm season and getting around on 2 wheels more. With the practicality and potential luggage space this bike offers for this price, I am more and more likely to buy a first generation Tiger 1200 next spring. The shaft drive is a must have for me, when I think of touring bikes, so that's a big plus as well. Having talked to a few owners recently, I am confident I will really like it. Thank you again!
Older but good video. I'm actually in the market now for a 2016 675 R. I could get the MT09 for about the same price and I test rode both. The Street Triple R is just so much better than the MT09, tactile build quality, handling and power delivery wise. You'd be silly to chose an MT09 over the Street Triple, if you can get both for about the same money. That said, I can't say anything about reliability.
Errrm, I chose the MT09 (SP) over the Street 😁😉 Back in 2018 the SP and the RS where around the same money and as I said in other videos, it was a subjective choice between two amazing bikes. For me after doing back to back rides, I preferred the higher quality fit and finish, looks and mid-range power delivery of the Yamaha over the more sportier and better handling Triumph. It was a close run thing, and I’d have been happy on either, but I still own and love my MT 👍
@@VeeFour Higher quality fit and finish? You're joking...right? Don't get me wrong. The MT09 is an amazing bike and I'm by no means a Triumph fanboy, but the fit and finish on those bikes are not even comparable. I'm a perfectionist by trade (a professional guitar maker) and the fit and finish on the Triumph was why the bike even came to my attention in the first place. I saw it on the street (they are not that common where I live) and was amazed by the attention to detail. I saw a ton of MT09s before and they look good but the tactile feel is just not what it is on the Triumph (675R!) I'm not talking about the 2018 765! Never saw that one in real live. I chose the Triumph despite my concerns about reliability because of how well put together it looks and feels. Every singe bolt on this bike is beautiful. Nothing looks like you could buy it in the next hardware store.
I ride a Street 675R from 2016 that I have had since new. Tried the Yamaha MT09, didn’t even get close to the sharpness of the Triumph. Haven’t tried the MT09 SP version though.
@@thomassorensen5983 I have the same bike! 2016 675R. I got it with only 3000km for a really good deal with one year of residual warranty. Looked basically brand new. The handling of the R is unbelievably good. It's extremely light and just inspires confidence. What I don't like about it, is that it physically gets very hot, even though the temp "gauge" is still in the regular range. I wasn't used to that, since I only had Hondas before. I searched some forums and asked my mechanic about it, but everyone assured my that this is perfectly normal with this bikes. Riding in the rain is therefore a bit of a challenge. It steams quite a lot then the rain hits the radiator and vaporizes. You also get very wet because the rear tire basically catapults the water onto your back.
Great video! Can you tell me something about engine endurance? Im thinking about buing Tiger from 2013, and i have good option to buy one, howewer with 83.000 km on odometer, its still worth to buy? Cheers!
Thanks. I can only speak about my own bike and experiences, but I still own my Tiger and it is as good as the day I bought it. However, mine has only a little over 20k on the odometer after nearly 8 years, so isn’t a good comparison. The engine in my bike still feels like it has all the power that it left the factory with, and apart from a slight clutch release bearing rattle when idling in neutral (which is normal), it sounds tight and good. Overall the engine feels strong and has no external signs of wear and tear, but if you’re looking at one with 83k on the clock, then I’d expand your research to include a deep dive into the various online owner forums. Good luck and safe riding
I WAS LITERALLY GONNA BUY ONE THIS WEEK ! 2016 R1 WITH 7K MILES FOR $17,000 PLUS TAXES!! THANKS TO THIS VIDEO IVE DEFINITELY CHANGED MY MIND! THANK YOU FOR FOR THE AWESOME REVIEW !! MUCH LOVE FROM SAN DIEGO !! <3
That’s a tough choice. For me I’d go with the triumph as I love the character of the triple. However the Zed is a good looking bike and the four pot engine will be smooth and revy. Try this technique; assign each bike a different side of a coin and flip for it. If you’re happy with either outcome then you are genuinely torn equally. If you find yourself flipping again after the first try, or calling best of three, then really know deep down which you’d prefer. Good luck 🤞
