Tape is soooo much easier to work with and clean up. But every tape I've tried causes itching on me! Makes me so crazy. Keep hoping I'll someday find a tape that doesn't itch like crazy. I've zero issues with ghostbond. But of course that's harder to apply and clean up. Especially with lace.
if you build 3 or even 4 layers of tape on top of each other it makes it easier to grab hold of when its time to remove. Bit old school. But saves scratching /peeling a thin layer of tape off each time .
@@HairSystemDIY not really , same price every time you take system off. if you do it every 3 days you just re apply it on existing tape so u build up over time depending how many layers you can live with before removing and starting again.
Is the walker better than the sunshine tape? Also you talk about bleached nots a lot. How does this work when you put things like back to natural in your hair. Just about to switch from poly partial system to full with lace front
For me, sunshine is marginally better but only because it’s more comfy on my head. Aside from that they both have a full finish which aids the invisible hairline. So with back2natural it doesn’t ‘bleach’ the knots - they remain the same, but no one can see them anyway when the top 99% of the hair has been bleached.
Just be careful with ultra hold tapes on poly when removing system . use the tape remover so you do not rip the poly base... go slow removing tape on poly. just my opinion.. keep up the content!!! Adam has the best content by far on this subject. hair wearer since 18-19 years old, I am now 58!! right now wearing a 100 percent density system french lace with poly surround 6 inch bleached knots on front. remove it daily . so far so good 1 month in with new system have to see longevity with this usually i get full lace,,,,👍👍.Adam is on the money!!!
@@recordsmanukrnet Back then ill say 1988 pieces were all mono based just like the mono pieces today. bit density was 130 percent. heavy on the head thick also. skin came out in the 90s they were 10mm thick they were durable but still unrealistic. not till ill say mid 2000 they are perfected now. more realistic. but mine back then up until mid 2000 you could not tell with the right stylist.. did not have glues back then just tape and liquid tape comb clips and these little tubes and buttons that looked like snaps the=at where attached to your existing hair and attached to the base and threaded with carpet thread to hold on to your head. tape on front only. boy after they basically sewed it on you needed damn tylenol for the pain (tension) pulling on your hair. it would last three weeks then go back and redo it again @ 60-80 bucks a clip.. it got costly till i found another place that said just use tape. and that was it I been using tape since mid 90;s.. today is a far cry from then... more convenient more realistic... I remove daily since back then...takes 5 min to apply tape comb and go..
@@tomkoala2903 wow, I honestly didn’t know these even existed back then, I’ve only heard of wigs but those are proper wigs, that scream fake from a distance. I bet you wore it down without exposing your front hairline since tape wasn’t perfect at the time. I wonder what hair units might look like in the future with all the technology. Since you remove it daily, does tape still hold well? Or you apply new tape every other day?
@@recordsmanukrnet back then no exposed hairlines .I remove daily wash my own hair and clean base everyday, and apply new tape daily. Thats my only expense a month...
I tape the fronts never ghost bond,I put it just a smidge off the frontline works perfect, I dont put right on edge because it will start to fray eventually with lace and I use Knot sealer spray on the base (all lace bases) just where you will apply tape( no shine tape) to the base..👍👍👍
I saw a YT video from a system wearer who demonstrated tape application. He advised leaving a gap between each piece of tape along the perimeter so it provides a bit of ventilation for the scalp. I've done this using a gap of 1/2 to 2/3 of an inch.
@@HairSystemDIY Perfect. I was wondering if it was the one you came across about 9 months ago when you ordered the blue by accident instead of green. I just got my second ever install and am doing all tape (whatever the salon provides) and have realized that tape is my future especially with my active lifestyle. Def gonna buy this when I do my first self install. TY <3
Hello Adam. Thank you for such educational and insightful content on the subject. Your videos are extremely helpful to people struggling on this DIY journey. Thank you. My question is : if you have a “brushback hairstyle” (exposed hairline), would tapes help achieve that natural hairline look ? Glues certainly do, but can that be achieved on lace base with tape application ?
I remember you said you found a trick with poly - to put space between each tape so that sweat and heat can escape the system between the space of the placed tapes. Do you feel this is still not enough to deal with summer heat?
I think it could work with an ultra thin skin, but I feel even with gaps the thicker polys seem to hold more heat in. Another option is glue, which I’ve applied on my current base. Seems to be a bit more comfortable
@@tesnax No space between tape is not enough for the heat we have now and will do almost nothing with all Poly. You need a Hybrid System or Lace so your Scalp can breathe because all Poly just holds in the Sweat and you Sweat more now.
Full skin NO WAY in USA NY!! winter maybe but summer keep it full lace. been using skin and also lace in simmers skin i was overheating lace much better swiss lace the best. no matter what you will sweat because we loose alot of heat through our scalp.. Great content 👍 plus uncomfortable!!
Dude, my systems from “lord hair” looks so bad and dry and matted and shed loads after like 6 weeks! So to hear yours has lasted 6 months is crazy! Where do I buy! 😅

I am having such a hard time deciding what to get because I did lace before with glue but hated the maintenance but also I'm afraid of the the heat during exercise with poly. I am debating between the knotted Mirage and the Thor, both similar density, I think maybe the best bet is just do a full tape with the Thor for best maintenance.
What kind of temperature are you living in currently? Anything over 80F I would recommend a Thor, Helios or Mirage. Also Eros but it doesn’t last very long
I like a Hybrid System so your Head can Breathe in this Heat now. My Scalp is Sweating a lot now when I am outside in the Heat so I have the AC on to dry me out and that works for me now. I think that Glue is better but there are still people who are afraid of Gluing and always use Tape no matter what the Weather.Got to be Glued is good to use now when you are taking your Hair off more because of the Heat and let your Scalp air out awhile and then Rebond your Hair Systems faster and easier. The Humidity is worse than anything now and Sweating a lot more man.
Can you poke holes for breath ability? Also, try walker sport max scalp protector. It speeds up adhesive cure time. I live in Galveston Tx it's hot and humid. Hybrid system works for me
I like Hybrid System too and Scalp Protector is great especially now. I am Sweating a lot more now because it keeps getting Hotter and more Humid so I need to do something to let my Scalp Breathe and dry out a little bit.
Yeh Texas can get so hot in summer. I’d only recommend a french or Swiss lace in that climate in summer, or hybrid as you mention. You could poke holes but it does weaken the integrity of the poly if you put too many holes in. I love walker sport 🥰🥰
The last 2months my scalp is weeping abit normally after 2-4 days full poly... when this happens il get a lift at the back.. always tend to be the same place...once the air gets to this it stops... so I've just brought the douglas unit...hopefully that will help as my head can breath.....note I also work as a artisan baker...so with all this heat we have had it definitely makes a difference on these polys
Let me know how you get on with Douglas. The poly isn’t too thick so it may be ok. I’ve seen a few positive reviews saying it is breathable, in the middle
Imagine being 15!!! I was 15 and it started .Imagine this in the 1980's the hair generation!! it was like total devastation!!! got my first system at 19. I am now 58 still wearing.. went through every type of base and attachments. Great content and spot on...
Not sure where the video was for the argon oil. I purchased this but i purchased a dry mist one. for me i do not like it.hair did not feel silky felt like it was drying out . so i will go back to my leave in conditioner biologe
I just discovered your video I find it interesting I just have a problem with lace and tape, may be you could tell me how to solve. I explain I wear a white wig and white lace. After a few days, I noticed tape becomes black due to pollution With white lace and white hair it it is visible ! Not cool Thanks for your video Eric from France
i am going to lose my mind why mine doesnt come off like this i damaged afew of my hair system even tapes are not coming off from pu system can anyone tell me what am i doing wrong
You are correct. These pieces fall apart in a month. You get what you pay for!! cheap materials..you are spot on. If you want to look like you stole a piece off a mannequin in the store then go ahead. I look at it this way. If you are self conscience of being bald you will be more self conscience with a real cheap system.!! Stay with companies like La vivid and name brand stores. Yes you can save money but the pieces shed and fall apart quickly. Keep up the content spot on...
I was offering my opinion. At no point am I reviewing anything. While a review can contain opinions, it generally aims to provide a comprehensive and informative assessment, whereas an opinion is purely a personal stance that may not be as thorough or informative 👍 .
Make your mind up. I’m entitled to have an opinion on something..if you don’t like it, fine. But we live in a democracy where anyone is entitled to their opinion
Hey bro, love your videos, they have taught me alot. However this video seems a bit biased for obvious reasons and i dont blame you. But this does not represent the entire truth. There are multiple ways to validate a supplier on alibaba by yourself if you google. Just because you never heard of them dosent mean that they are worse. I have contacted 4 of the most known "verified suppliers" of hair systems and their customer service is terrible. They are super pushy to make a sale or they dont answer regarding a non sale question. I will not shop from any of these famous suppliers as they have terrible customer service and you dont know if the quality you get is good since there has been many complaints recently.
Just offering my opinion bro. A lot of the vendors on Alibaba and eBay just don’t cut it. I’d absolutely love to be proved wrong. If I am wrong please send me a pic of the £35 hair system to show the quality 👍
"Topman" in Bham used to import the Bergman range from Germany. Pretty hardwearing fibre ones. Not sure if you can still get them over here anymore. Be nice to have black hair for sure as it would make life so much easier buying these things. E Bay is good for most stuff you know for certain is going to be OK . This sort of product is deff a step into the dark though.
Informative video Are the drawbacks of lace (compared to poly) negated if you use tape surrounding the perimeter and dont show your hairline? (Less strong bond, hairline lifting, messy and harder clean ups, rougher on hair)
Adam, I ordered the Adrian from Lavivid like you suggested on another video. You stated that the hair was high quality European hair on Swiss Lace. I got the system yesterday and must say, it’s not European hair! It’s processed, dull, dry, colored, and Indian Remi hair, passing as an Adrian Hair system. I have been trying to reach Lavivid since yesterday and no replies back. Their live chat is disabled and are not replying to my emails. Not sure if you have a direct line I can speak with someone there. Thanks!
@@HairSystemDIY Hi Adam. Because I have owned two CRONUS European hair units from Lavivid before and know the quality difference between natural hair and processed remy. Also, when I first washed the Adrian, some hair color came off in the wash, confirming not virgin hair. The hair also has some frizz, it's dull, and quite wavy. Lavivid just reached out to me by email and asked for a photo of it, which I just provided them. I then asked them how will this be resolved. I am waiting for a response.
Myra is my stylist as well. She uses different techniques Whether that be straight scissors, thinning scissors, razor edge and clippers she won’t create blunt ends. It’s a wonderful experience whether you bring your own system of let Myra do the whole process for you.
