I've only had my system on for 4 weeks now, and I love it. It's a poly base, and the salon used Ghost Bond glue to attach it. I let it cure for 48 hours before letting it get wet at all, and a week before going to the gym. I do cardio and sweat a lot, and the front lifted by about an inch. Even after leaving it for a full day, the glue didn't coalesce and rebond, so I had to clean and reapply the front. At my maintenance appointment, I asked them to use tape this time. They use Geobond, around the perimeter and one in the middle. After a gym session, the front had lifted ever so slightly, but again, didn't coalesce. I've now ordered some Walker Ultra tape, so I'm going to remove and clean the front of the Geobond and see if the Walker tape is any better.

Hi mate. Ah how annoying. What I would recommend is either ultra hold tape (looks like you’ve got this), or Walker Lace Front tape. Both have exceptional holds so I would imagine they will work better than ghostbond. There’s also ultrahold glue which is a bit gloopy but offers a far better hold than ghostbond. one drawback to ultra hold glue is that it is flammable. Keep me posted on how you get on 👍

@@HairSystemDIYThanks buddy, I certainly will! I'll be going to the gym on Monday so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for all your content, too, so helpful! 💚

I live in Berlin and bought two poly bases from a salon chain called O.C. Hair Systems. You should really take at their clean up technique I apply to my base. It really is the safest way to clean the base. No rubbing of towels, just soak some cotton pads in their cleaner product, place them on the base, wrap in clingfilm, leave overnight and the tape/glue will easily wipe off with a paper towel the next day. 6 months later and my two systems are still going strong!

Because I don't have to worry about wear and tear caused by cleaning up, I just bond using what works best for me: Walker Ultra Hold glue at the front (best hold for wearing my hair up) and tape on the sides+back (holds better than water-based glues and less messy than using acrylic glue).

Tape - easier to clean and makes the system last longer. Glue causes the base of the hairsystem to turn off-white. You can create a realistic hairline by using a thinner tape (vs thicker tape for the back and middle). Use tracing paper to map out your pieces of tape like a jigsaw for the hairline and you’ll get a clean finish without tape oozing out at the hairline prematurely. Whenever there is a shine at an exposed hairline, grab your girlfriend’s foundation powder (providing it matches your skin tone) and a micro brush and gently dab the shiny bits - shine gone!

What I do for removing tape from poly is dip the entire system in a tub of water overnight (also good for letting the scalp breathe for a few hours) and it peels off no problem the next day. I think even a couple hours does the trick.
@HairSystemDIY

Do you tend to use hot boiling water or just cold water? This is a good idea 👍 I’ve previously put it in water with some c22, but I’ve found that can cause oxidation of the hair
@tesnax

@@HairSystemDIY just cold, no heat necessary. Seriously just water is needed, nothing else. It peels off like nothing when I tried it for 8 hours overnight
@mythinktube
@mythinktube 3 месяца назад
I might try that. But doesn't leaving the hair soaked in water for so long cause some shedding or damage to the longetivity of the system?

Lace front tape on a Poly which recommend in a previous video is a solid choice for me and cleans up pretty easy and quick 👍🏻

Removing Tape on Lace can tear it too and why I like a Poly perimeter because you need something solid to Glue and Tape.
@HairSystemDIY
@HairSystemDIY 3 месяца назад
Yes it can. But it’s much harder to tear a lace with tape than it is a poly

Great video! Just wanted to see if you had any concerns potentially about the chemicals used in the glues/tapes. Have you had any issues with skin irritation? One of the main concerns I’ve heard from people is about the glue containing potential carcinogens (not sure how true that is though).
@HairSystemDIY
@HairSystemDIY 3 месяца назад
I don’t believe the glue has carcinogens. But you could always look at the ingredients and double check. Important to note as well that due to the thickness of the glue, it doesn’t actually penetrate deep enough to reach the bloodstream. I used to get skin irritation with ultrahold tape but I don’t seem to any more

Hey I got my first hair system a few days back. I went with the glue method. For the first 2-3 days it was normal. Then I started to feel itching on my scalp. It was itching so much. Then I took off the hair system by myself. Then I see that my head skin has little pimples. I have been suffering from baldness for a long time. I don't go outside. I lack confidence due to my hair. And I decided to wear a hair system but it was not successful. I am really depressed. Can I wear and remove the hair system on a daily basis? Or is it take time to get used to a hair system? Or shall I go with the taping method? Your response will be appreciated.

What's your opinion on sunshine tape, for oily skin and sweat? I live in a hot and humid climate in Texas? As for tape òn a poly, there is a tape called "liner tape ' that tape isn't very sticky, that tape would go on the poly, then a the strong hold tape goes on top of the liner tape

I love sunshine tape - it works well for me.

Glue works better but Tape is easier so I like to at least Ghostbond XL the Hairline and use Tape.
