Honestly, I picture this as a writer and his character arguing with each other. However in the end they both know they need each other, they both would be useless without each other alongside one another.
I just really love this song and wow seeing actual moves with it omg... And omg is this like a writer and their book character!?!?!?! Because this is so real!!!!
As a practicing author both put really good points especially the "Im everything you always wanted to be lets deal with the issue You Wished you were me" hit me hard creating characters and making them theyre stories is like my own escape my own reality and go to the other one and experience it myself but if i was the character i would wished i had full control on what i see

Not sure I like this Tony, seemed a little anxious. I'm used to seeing Tony in this scene being somewhat calm and meditative, like his reality is suspended. He kept leaning over Maria. He's supposed to be taller, but he's supposed to hold his space before going in for the kiss. I liked having this nebbish woman with glasses playing Gladhand. It's a cool touch.
My assumption (with zero knowledge of the musical) is that this song is a meta-feud between a fictional character and the author of their story. They hate each other with a burning passion, but at the same time, they are stuck with each other because neither of them can function without the other around. For anyone who actually knows this musical, feel free to let me know how far off my interpretation is. Otherwise, I’ll just come back in about a week once I have actually listened to all of the songs…
