This is not oxygen...it's just normal air....if it is oxygen then we never need to buy oxygen cylinder for patients...we can use this air pump

Substrate is utterly meaningless to what it can do to the tank compared to a good-sized lava rock with the right or wrong bacteria colonies living in it. I think it's best to colonize porous rocks with beneficial bacteria for about a week in a filtered tank before building up the main tank with substrate & porous rocks. It'll make water changes easier or even render them unnecessary.

I'm guessing a lot of people wanted to know what's inside the pump. Not to be told what it does.

It is important to mention the Carbonate hardness (KH) of water in the discussion about hardness and pH. KH also called alkaline hardness has a buffering effect on pH. For example, the methods used to acidify water can at best only have a temporary / short-term effect as the KH level will gradually increase alkalinity of the water.

Hi. Well distilled water seems pretty costly for the amount of water a tank needs, then it seem impossible in a small space. If only goverments help people more filteringr their water .(

Yea, would depend how much you use. I go through 200L a week so makes sense getting a rodi unit. Otherwise can buy it from most aquarium shops (5-20L)

Hi. My 6 neon tetra and 4 glo tetra died after I added Topfin aquarium gravel to my 3 weeks 75gallon tank. Is it the gravel that increased water ph and hardness and kill the fishes?

Something killed mine. I had several. One of the most likely culprits was Seachem Fluorish Excel. It says it's safe when used as directed...but I've done some searching and looks like some ppl think Excel killed their snails too.

Really an awesome video. Thanks for the tips of Tanganyika buffer. But the issue I faced, it's difficult to understand the dose for the buffer according to the top up water volume and even after adding the water with pH 8 after two days it got dropped to 7.4 in the main tank, not sure why this fluctuation happened.

I have a hard one to solve . Tap water ph of 8.8 gh of 1 kh of 8 , my ph will not lower every time I lower it the ph shoots right back up indicates I have no buffer but I have a high ph
@worldofaquariums5534
@worldofaquariums5534 Год назад
Hey, your kH is the buffer. GH does not effect it/ pH. Because you have a high kH it will usually bring pH back up until it becomes lowered

You know what sucks about north Texas? Tap water ppm in the area I live in is around 200 - 300 ppm, making it very difficult to lower the hardness of water. However, SOMEHOW, tetras, who usually prefer soft, acidic water, utterly refuse to die in tanks around here.
@BlatentlyFakeName
@BlatentlyFakeName 9 месяцев назад
Where I live in the UK it's over 400 as it's a limestone base. Tetras and most other things still do fine. It's better to keep it stable.

I’ve had my rabbit snail for 10 year and he’s been flipping over and laying on his back for the past 3-4 days. I keep flipping him back over and he flips on his back immediately. Is he at the end. He just got treated with expel p and paracleanse. Idk what to do 😢

@worldofaquariums5534
@worldofaquariums5534 Год назад
ADA soil is on the expensive side of soils for aquariums but it works really well. The way I see it personally is, if I have lots of success using ADA soil, I would rather spend more on a premium brand then another if i increase the amount of shrimp breeding

This is such a great video. Now that I have a ph meter on my tank full time, I see the ph drops to 7.6 7.7 a little bit low for my taste. Just ordered the seachem tang buffer and will add it to my top up water and I think this will help boost the ph better. Great video!

@@worldofaquariums5534 do cardinals feed on biofilm before algae or other way round?
@worldofaquariums5534
@worldofaquariums5534 Год назад
@@didnthurt4077 biofilm grows on the surface of algae. They don't really "eat" the algae, but the biofilm on it. You see people talk about green algae walls as beneficial and that is because it has more surface area for algae to grow on
@didnthurt4077
@didnthurt4077 Год назад
@@worldofaquariums5534 thanks for the clarification! The storeguy told me they eat mainly algae not biofilm so thats why im wondering. Currently im in week 2 cycling my sula tank and i have a lot of biofilm already and very little algae. I added a full scoop of bacter ae so this works pretty well for establishing biofilm. Will reduce the dosage from now on not to create any inbalances. Going to add some neos in 2 weeks to clean up the tank and wait another month for the tank to be fully cycled. Very excited to keep sulas :)

Hey, im planning to get these. I have a 30 liter aquarium and i use RODI water. How much mineralizer (7,5) do i have to add to my tank (my aquarium has normal water as i keep neocaridina shrimp) to get the ph to around 8? Can neocaridina handle the sulawesi shrimp water parameters? Is 10 sulawesi shrimp enough?
