Why wouldn't you just use a helical gear to drive the exhaust cam? Did those chain sprockets and micro chains really save them THAT much money per car?
If you just take care of your engine. All of these will last. Change your damn oil every 5k miles with full synthetic oil. Change your trans fluid every 40k.
Just do on time maintenance and dont dog your vehicle. Many many more driving aroung with over 150 200000 moles with no issues. There are far more with no issues than there are with issues facts
I used to sell cars back in the mid 90s. Back then Pontiac was the cheap used car that everyone wanted (and later regretted). It's sad, the people who buy those kinds of vehicles, new or used, are often the ones who can least afford the repair bills.
I have a 2012 sonic and last year they couldn’t get a chip to update my car for phone apps etc. so I paid for something that is useless. Lesson learned.
Flip side, buy them cheap, fix them, still less expensive than a newer luxo car, and you have a sorted Jaaaaag. There are vids from Blighty sorting out XJRs.
My first ride in a Porsche was in the 914-6 and it was convincing. The engine snarling right behind you and your butt skimming inches above the ground. The other mid engine choices were Fiero or Lambo. It still is the most go cart like Porsche. Now the older Boxster S is the last Porsche that's small and nimble.
My mom has a 2018 Hyundai Tucson bearing clearance was to low I guess the dude said so it needed a new engine at like 40k miles the engine sounded terrible, my mom dint beat on it kept up with oil changes, they did cover it, she dint have a warranty probably recall
I have a question for Magic Mike, I have a 2003 C32 AMG project vehicle that I purchased 2020 and it had rattling cats and throwing P0432 and P0422 so I had the cats replaced up stream and down stream and all the O2 sensors. I still get the error codes. I had done some research and found a few causes for this issue being the Cam position sensor, replaced, MAP sensor, Replaced and still get the error codes. I also replaced the intercooler under the SC but still have the same issue and now found after checking the engine management ECU connections and I found on the ECU a note attached to the ECU that had Programed written on the paper. This leads me to think the ECU has a corrupt program on it but what to reach out to an expert who may have another idea that I may of missed, Not to sure on my next move and if I should take the vehicle to the dealership to reprogram the ECU. Any input is helpful Thanks Russell G
Honda may not have a “sports car” as you claim but you put one of those k series engines in any of them with a turbo and youll gap all of the “sports cars” on the road lol
I’m sorry wizard, not sure to put down a brand when you only see bad experiences. I had good luck and know people with models with 140-150,000 miles and they only had to do oil changes and basic maintenance. I’ve also seen a lot of people who complained about them and they are the ones that don’t do their basic maintenance and let them fall apart then complain how bad they are.
Had a 09 Santa Fe 130k no big issues till i drove it from FL to Indiana back to Florida back to in it blew up. Now i have a 12 Kia Sorento 70k on it and it's sitting at the dealership right now smh 😂😂
Another great video, Mr. and Mrs. Wizard. Once again, my opinion of Kia / Huyndai cars is confirmed. I owned a 2002 Kia Sedona, which I got rid of in three years. My mom owned a 2005 Kia Sportage, which just deteriorated in slightly over 100,000 miles. It is these little thinks that Daniel was seeing that show their lack of quality.
All cannon fire is indirect - the parts cannon is no different. Rarely does it hit the target on multiple volleys. Glad the see the Wizard army experience taught him that life lesson so he can pass it down to his customers. Good job!
My wife and I have owned or leased 7 or 8 Hyundai Elantra’s over the years - very happy with all - Had engine issue with my 2020 Elantra Value Edition - A new engine was approved without hassle w/in 48 hrs - free car rental usage during repair time - It ran better than new when returned to me. My wife still has her 2020 Val Edition (great car) and bought out lease and no plans to sell. I own a 2023 Elantra SEL w/ Convenience Package (never an issue) - Think it depends upon model / year / intended use - if you plan to keep 10 yrs and 100k+ miles - I’d likely look for something else - BUT the Elantra’s we have owned have overall been great for our usage.
I dislike screens on cars. OEMs prefer screens, as they reduce complexity (of having multiple buttons, and their wires, going through the center console or dashboard), and the decrease costs (of having multiple buttons, stamping / printing the buttons, and assembling all those different buttons). They just do not pass those savings onto consumers. Instead, we get the bad side of the bargain: a single point of failure for the entire system, that screen. Which, if it is big and important it will be expensive.
One thing you didn’t mention at all, were the 02 to 05 that had the Quadrasteer option. I have an 05 Silverado Quadrasteer and they are amazing!! Bought it in 09, still have it, and will drive it until the wheels fall off! Pretty rare trucks.
2024 cost will eat most of $5,000 at shops experienced in this repair. On long mile cars would be foolish not to replace all suspension bushings, joints ,drive components. In short, lots more expense.
I bought a 2011 Sonata in early 2013. It was a factor warrantied, former rental car. Between 150-180,000 miles, I did a lot of front end work (did it myself) but what car with that sort of mileage doesn't need some front-end work. I never needed any engine, trans or other mechanical work, above regular maintenance, not covered by the Hyundai Warranty. At 220,000 I gave it to my grand daughter (Oct 2023) with the confidence that she won't have major issues. I replaced it with a 2023 Sonata, dealer demo with 7,000 miles. Got about 20% off sticker. Despite the Wizard's warnings, I'm hooked on Hyundai.
Can you say anything about the XJS later years? I'm talking 92-96 with the online 4.0 and the gm auto 4 speed. Hearing good things about this power train under the late models. They also went with standard disc brakes in the rear instead of the diff mounted brakes.
