Dude, I am going to perform this monologue anytime I need to perform some serious piece as part of an audition process. I've never had to do that before, but I'm going to seek out the opportunity just so I can do a beat for beat recreation on stage like my life fucking depends on it.
Part 3 has now been greenlit. Not joking. It is late 2024. Part 3 is officially, for real, totally not joking, being made. Edit: I vote that the new one be called 'Did You See the Other Two?'
Actually ‘Now You See Me’ is not the full title, the full title is ‘Now You See Me, Now You Don’t’. The poster artist decided to make the ‘now you don’t part’ literal by hot making it visible. So, naming the sequel ‘Now You Don’t’ wouldn’t actually make sense.
I will play devil's advocate here, but I think the writers wanted to call "Now you don't" and the execs just thought that you can't name a movie like that and expect it to sell.
I love Harmon’s work, but he’s 100% miserable to the point of contemplating suicide when he isn’t in public. I think that should be fairly obvious to anyone that knows about his personality and life.
Harmon is such a petty dude. As a writer he should have some respect for other peoples work, not spend 12 minutes shitting on something he hasn’t even seen in front of a live audience. What a douche bag.
I'm guessing their market research showed that the success of the first movie was primarily due to the Jedi mind control effect of the title itself (assuming the Jedi in question is Yoda). So they pretty much had to repeat that effect for the sequel.
Imagine they were just so much up their own asses that they thought "we go like 'now you see me', second 'now you see me too' and THEN 'now you don' t'!" because today you always plan at least three movies ahead. (the even sadder thing might be a stupid 3 behind the title if that third one comes out as rumored)
Now it makes sense. Dan Harmon suffers from advanced stage 4 TDS. You can tell he's getting nervous about 2024 by the writing in the new season of Rick and Morty.
I have often thought that the Pissmaster episode of Rick and Morty was just an allegory for Harmon’s relationship with interacting with people on Twitter and this absolutely solidifies that
What you’re forgetting is that Americans have such short attention span, or knowledge of anything, that they need things to be made extremely clear to them. For instance the film “the madness of king George” should be called madness of king George III, but audiences were confused as they thought they missed the first two films.
