I'm really tired of this Essex dunking on. I love Fisher, but he's ultimately really went astray I think with this one. Many of those in E/N London were pushed down from Scotland (And Ireland to a lesser extent) and then the cockneys were pushed out and functionally destroyed (which the moving of the Ann Bolyne to the Olympic Stadium was key of.) into Essex. Essex held so many of things he prescribes to the wonderful magical RnB circles that a certain degree of intellectual wank themselves about. Lower Essex, that held a thriving rave and jungle scene all the way up through the 2010s, where a couple of friends could work with a local printer, and a local hotel basement and put on a rave. Or in the many thatcherism leftover warehouses that hadn't quite yet be claimed by Amazon or even, for those who did escape, their fields and wasteland. Communities of people riding motorbikes while playing jungle music on abandoned chemical wasteland, communities of pirate radio stations all the way down the c2c. Lower essex were the victims and the strangled of the thatcherisms, not proponents of it. Fisher also misses the sheer level of incestuous nature of essex voting/councils. Where lower councils are subjected to ECC, which always near favours to actual capitalism realism dickriders and conservatives continually redraw voting lines to keep them in power (JDP had one of the worse this recent elections, essentially group two of the most poor area with richer area to try save her seat) Johnathan Mead even does this same thing, throwing out the likes of Horndon on The Hill and their folk customs, original buildings or even Corringham's dickens evenings for the sake of slurpping london run off dreamers who wasted their money in architectural communes. Sure, you say the Feast and Fyre is a pastiche or some hankering (and it has been ruined by global drop shipping trash to an extent.) but to throw it all away just cry over conservatives tears about the very communities you are crying about. By throwing lower Essex to the dogs like this, you throw away the disabled people there are who no longer have access to hospitals because they were demolished in favour of non-social housing. You give both the neolib left and the right an excuse to bulldoze and fuck those over.
I feel like this post needs more love even though I likely didn’t catch many of the geo-cultural signifiers because I’m American. The only thing I know about Essex is that my Blur CD had a song called ‘Essex Dogs’ on it that I liked. Anyway, I can tell that it’s important to you that people understand what you said, and I do. I’ve no reason _not_ to believe you; after all, it’s a similar story in my town and your town and everyone’s town. It’s going to get worse before it gets… well, worse. Dig in, friends.
Thank u very much for give a chance to Ortega y Gasset. If you like to give it a go to Spanish Philosophy, I recomend you also Unamuno and the tragic feeling of life.
I had heard of the unnameable, being always around me in his gooey form. I thought the unnameable referred to vibes, electricity, and possibly the ether. Only today I discovered Cyclopedia and it makes so much sense, petroleum is everywhere, even in my clothes. I'm looking forward to reading the book.
I have long contemplated Warhol and Michael Jackson as they pertain to the surgical and semio-urgical precdents of our mutant era … so exciting to hear them cited in tandem here.
First steps of the phyrexian invasion, facilitated by the black "glistening oil," an infectious and hyperstitious substance. Cyclonopedia is awesome.. it seems very obviously inspired by MTG lore
ok i need to get a pdf cause there is clearly smthing here but ive no clue what. the mathemes reminded me of alenkas very brief speculation in Sex on the "primordial lack" in existance and differentiation
Hey Oskar, do you take requests/suggestions? Could you read Mark Fisher's Acid Communism (Unfinished Introduction)? There is a version on Youtoob but it is read by an AI so it sounds really janky.
@@oskar5724 you have such a good selection of readings, I'm studying philosophy and I really appreciate the finding of your Chanel. English it's not my mother language but you have a really clear voice and make the right pauses on the right moment. Perfect job mate, you should be proud.
“Failure always essential reveals us to ourselves, permits us to see ourselves as God sees us whereas success distances us from what is most inward in ourselves and indeed in everything”
Oh my word, what a treat. This paired so nicely with the earlier serving of Land’s poetic description of Death Drive (via Bataille) and a large serving of Opium (via a dear friend). Such a night, is this…
@@oskar5724 I’ve been hanging so far… well, for the most part (lol yeah right). But actually I thought the last one tracked logically enough. So far though, “Easter” is far and away the standout of this series for me.
@@oskar5724 and let’s be honest, this isn’t so much a work “on Bataille” as it is an excavation of his grave, in order to bludgeon Hegel to death with pieces of his skeleton.
Hello Oskar. I am inspired by your channel. How do you choose your material and how do you get permission to read and distribute such long texts for free? I am thinking about doing something similar myself.
