Hello, I fly a PPG. One of the things that happens when taking off in a PPG is that when the wing is inflating, the trike normally reverses a little. I imagine Powered Parachutes would not do that since their engines are more powerful, and the aircraft is heavier. Once you get the hang of it, a PPG would just as easy to get in the air as a Powered Parachute. PPG pilots normally just fly for about one hour or so. Like the Part 103 says, it's mostly intended for recreation. Very rarely ar PPG's used for competition. And yes, only one occupant.

The FAA cares so little about 103 I doubt the FAA would do anything unless there is an incident. Simply having a single beer and then flying is certainly not going to draw any attention from the FAA. And I'm sure any attempt to seek enforcement action for that would easily be dismissed by an admin law judge. Now the same under part 91 or 130 is a big difference.
Great video, I bought my first Paraplane in 1982 from Steve Sneider with whom I became a good friend untill his tragic accident. I am 70 now, a Helicóptero Pilot with 30 years of experience but I want to go back to a modern Paraplane for 2 people. I will surely contact you for advise and training
So the written test for the sports pilot license is that the same as any sports pilot license? So if I want to transition to a two seater Quad city challenger is that a rating? But the same license? I plan on buying a two seater powered parachute in the future. But I also would like to transition to a fixed wing aircraft. and have both in the future

Roy...how I ve found you: intend fly a 103 aerolite but to begin better a trike glider...here is THE POINT...both collapse...think easily...so I understand need to safe...Beginner I thought I fly with my back parachute...but think is almost impossible get an open and safe parachute from a collapsed in a stoll to end of the story lol...Roy congatullations cause powered parachute says we can fly safe even in stoll and collapsed 103 aerolite ultra light with reserve rocket parachute ...Think I need a power parachute first and thats the way to ready for take off a parapent or pwer parapent or a aerolite 103 ultra light ...think a Power parachute is safe as walk around or fly a glider...can you bring a word about how scape out of a severe stoll not be stoped whithout a reserve launched parachute as in parapent collases? Flying at night is very important to sport pilots, pushing pilots to leave early in the daytime into hazardous weather is the opposite of promoting a safety culture, FAA needs to fix this immediately!
@@EasyFlight Sorry I couldn't resist making a snarky comment. A college acquaintance of mine in the mid 1970s was killed hang-gliding. He obviously did not have the experience to know when conditions were unsafe and he didn't survive a crash from 50 feet up. Don't get me wrong, I can see the appeal, not unlike motorcycle riding I guess. Powered or unpowered, ultra-lights are just too dangerous for the average Joe in my humble opinion. But to each their own.
I really enjoyed the comparison. Well done. I just bought the new Blackhawk aero 1000 bush dawg quad. I'm going to fly that awhile and try the powered parachute in a year or two, i know I'll need training on that because it's a little different.
