So if I understand it correctly, someone with a sport pilot certificate with an airplane rating only needs an endorsement and a check ride from a different qualified CFI for a glider rating, but a sport pilot with a glider rating would need to pass a knowledge and practical test to get a sport pilot airplane rating. If true, then the FAA is taking a real wrecking ball to a proven regulation. On a related tangent, am I correct in my thinking that someone with a private pilot rating or higher could exercise their sport pilot privileges and receive a sport pilot weight shift, powered parachute, or glider rating in the same manner as a sport pilot?
