You seem like a nice guy, but you need to pattern. Shells and chokes add a big piece of paper 30 inch. Circle 40 yd, that's standard. It's been around for years and years. And years and years and why you young guys seem to just stick up a little duck. Target or paper plate and say oh yeah, that's great. It's not the truth, man. Do some research do it right? And you have a lot of people watching. I'm learning something
My barrel was rusty to got all the rust off cleaned it with denatured alcohol and then sprayed it with rustolem bed liner and also makes it weather proof
Those patterns are terrible. You should try a big piece of butcher paper to see if it’s more dense than that . I use a Patternmaster code black goose with 2 shot steel. My targets are covered in shot.
I like my kicks full (invector plus) choke for boss 2 3/4” 3/5s and at 35 yards it’s a dead duck and density inside a basketball size area with a spread out of 30” plus from “flyers” that hit outside. Very similar results with a muller choke (decoy) with the boss shells as well. I also shoot some hevi-metal longer range 6s for woodies and teal that pattern very similar to the boss shells.
Dude I’m loving these videos waiting for duck season to start. Just got my conservancy key for the first time, I’d love to meet ya or go out for a hunt sometime. Still gotta learn the river from where I’m used to hunting down in La Joya
My duck call comes in tomorrow and I spent my money on the jase Robertson pro series I’m brand new to calling I’m gonna try everything your teaching seems super helpful
I have the pattern master anaconda, and it did well. I now have a kicks and it does very well also. You can check out the video I posted if you like. In the next few days, I will be getting a Muller choke, and I have high hopes that it will be the best of the best. If you haven’t watched Joel Strickland‘s surviving duck season shotgun video it’s pretty cool. Talks a lot about pattern master, and the shot string. The cool, slow motion video is epic. Great video.
Great video! Love you channel. Recently subscribed. I have Family in the Abq. My Brother used to duck hunt along the Rio Grande many years ago. Do you do any upland hunting for dove and quail? I upland hunt in Az. Not much in the way of waterfowl where I go hunting other than jumping stock tanks and ditches. Keep up the great work Brother!
Last year I saw your videos and saw how you got ducks just off the Rio Grande. I live in Los Lunas and found a seasoned duck hunter at work and he showed me how to set up decoys, how to place your shot, how to call them in and the dos and donts. I got eight ducks in total for last season starting mid December and told some friends about the experience and shared some duck breast to see if they’d like it. This season I have my own NEW duck crew of five hunters who all but me it’s their first season. You planted the seed in me brother, the least you can think of is there are five new duck hunters who pay for their stamps and help keep places like La Joya (we actually have a plan go there this Saturday) open
Awesome video as always! I was thinking about heading out here early tomorrow morning on thanksgiving. I've never been here to check the area out in day light so I was hoping to get any info from you since I can't find any on the internet. Are the blinds marked on the road where to park? How far of a walk is it average since I will be solo carrying everything. I'll be hunting the south ponds. Thanks in advance!
Ya there are marked spots to walk in just look for the reflectors with your headlam when you are walking out from the parking lot those are the easiest way trust me ive walked other ways lol. There aren't blinds you kinda have to make your own i mean there are but they are falling apart
Just getting into duck hunting man & your vids are cool! I’ve only gone 3 times with scoring once on each hunt. Would you be willing to teach me a a few tricks sometime
Good to hear man glad you are having luck if you ever got any questions about tactics or your spread hit me up on Instagram i always reply to questions man
Ya man so just look for "benelli mobile" on the packaging next time your looking at cabelas or wherever you are looking. I like patternmaster i have the code black duck if you go on their website you can put in the gun and model and it will show you all the chokes they make that will fit
I did this test with Boss last season with factory full out of my weatherby element, was getting like 92% pattern density at 30 yds. Did same test this year with Carlson cremator, not as impressive grouping.
Ya i think when it comes to constriction tubes there is only so much you can do i think in my experience in the field even thought on paper carlson patterns better i think patternmaster hits harder on live birds
Ya i noticed that after i made the video... I feel like the patternmaster still hits harder i dont know if its cuz the rings and constriction dont mix or what but i used them bolth last season and i prefer the patternmaster
@@riograndereaper mines not super raspy. I’m using a duck commander call as well, I think it’s the difference in our calls. My buddy who calls ducks very well when I sent him the recording said it sounds like a mallard to me. So thanks for the tips man!
@@riograndereaper can’t wait for November!!! It’s gonna give me great content. Teal season starts this week and deer season is next Saturday here in Arkansas.
