If your ignition coil ohms at 3.8 to 4.5 or 4.6 (going by memory, your coil back is good. I would check fuses, but if the coil is good, I would check into changing the stator. When the original stator failed, the bike was getting harder and harder to start.
Not anything I can think of, but if you have no spark, I would check the ignition coils. Should ohm around 3.8 to 4.6 (going by memory) at about 70 degrees. The ignition coils are under the tank. Make sure to unplug them when testing. On a side note, I ruined my regulator rectifier (the heat sink item on the front of the frame behind the front tire) by jumping the bike from a running car. Was told the cars voltage was too high. Not sure if that was true, but it wouldn’t start after that. I changed the rectifier and it ran. I’ll try to make a video of testing the ignition coils and regulator rectifier
No spark. Just continued to crank. Test your ignition coils under the tank. Ohms resistance should be 3.6 to 4.8 ohm at about 68 degrees. Would be slightly higher is hot weather like 3.8-5.0 maybe. As long as you’re within that range the coils are good. I smoked my regulator on the front of the frame by jump starting the bike from a running car. Lesson learned.
RV transport was the most fun I ever had doing work. Seeing the country and meeting other transporters. I hope to start doing transport again in a few years when I am a little closer to retirement.
@@gnjadventures By the time I sold my Harley in 2012, I had already been fitted to this F.....g wheelchair for 8 years. As long as you can keep the dirty side down, keep riding brother. Wind is new skin.
I have one of these fine motorcycles. One thing you may want to check are the cam chain tensioners. If when you start a cold engine, you may hear a small and very brief rattle that goes away in an instant. Its a fairly easy task and it works. Just back out the Alan head bolts on the tensioner just a bit until you can jiggle it a little. You will hear a little click and now it is adjusted and you are done. I performed this service on my 2011 V-Star and no more rattle!
I add seafoam to the fuel. I try to run the fuel out if possible. However, I use the generator around the yard, like building garden boxes and running my miter saw off of the generator. Winter months, I'll put the generator outside and run an electric heater while I am working in the garage.
Since my wife traveled with me, I didn’t have room in the truck for a portable AC unit. Sadly I ran the truck when it was too hot. My friend had a sliding rear window and he placed a small air conditioner at the rear window every night.
Got my 2014 vstar classic 650 with Vance Hines pipes for 7 grand Aussie dollars with only 3000 Klics on the clock two months ago and cannot be happier I ride every day and love it
My 05 had 8500 miles and I’ve had it now 8 years. I have an oil leak that I have traced back to the stator wires leading back into the side of the engine. I have a new stator on order and I’ll make a video about changing it. I have one now, but people seem to not be able to figure out removing 3 screws and installing new screws, so I will make another video. I love mine and I’ll keep it as long as it runs. It’s paid for and gets me where I need to go. Stay safe!!
Of the Japanese Cruisers the yamaha is lightest , but still ride like a larger Cruiser. And go for not much money. I bought a 2006 v star for $2000 with 8k miles, and a 2016 honda shadow phantom 4k miles $4k. Both I'd take any day over a larger more expensive less reliable harley , or Indian .
I have been happy with my V-Star. I have the video where I replaced the stator. I have been fighting an oil leak and narrowed it down to the rubber grommet where the wires from the stator come out of the housing. I’ve ordered a replacement stator so watch for that video to come out soon. That is the only issue I have had is the stator.
Do you have to pay a subscription for custom controls and smart alerts. do you need a sub in order to have Astro self patrol and send me alerts when I am gone? Do we need to also buy ring cameras and or devices, bc I dont own any?
Yes, you need to subscribe to ring for the patrols and smart alerts. We had the free 60 day trial and it was ok, but nothing I would pay for. You can say “Astro, I’m leaving and he will still go into home monitoring mode, but it has not sent me any alerts. When I come back if I don’t turn off home monitor it will say unrecognized person until it sees my face. I will try to have the neighbor come in after I set home monitor and see what it does if it doesn’t recognize that person. I do not own ring cameras, but I have the blink system (also owned by Amazon) but it is not connected to Astro.
@GumbyPW. Yes, Astro is still working… trouble is I’m still working and just beat at the end of the day. I told my wife I need to make a video this weekend. Yes, I saw they lowered the price. Why have Astro for business that anyone can buy, but personal Astro is invite only. Maybe they figure people will buy the business model and not have to get accepted. Is your Astro still working?
@@gnjadventures Yes. I still have an occasional chargeing prob. where no mattter what I try (clean contacts, moving him on contacts, etc.) wont charge. Then just A re-boot, even doing it from the App. so I don't even touch him & charging starts. Really weird
I've had my LR4 up and running for about a week. My 2 cats seem to be using to pee, but I haven't found any poop in it yet. I am not getting any weight info on the cats yet. Maybe they are too close in weight and that feature disabled, we'll see. Overall impression so far. It's great.
I have mine on carpet, at first the weight was around 3-4 lbs. I decided to “repurpose “ some old PlayStation 3 games and put one under each foot of the litter robot. Now I am getting 7.5 to 8. Lbs. I think I will take a sheet of plywood and cut it the size of the footprint of the robot and see if it gets any closer to the cats weight. Chester is about 9 pounds and Kevin is around 11 pounds. I’m not 100% the scale works very well. My 20+ year old cat refuses to use the robot, she is sure it’s a trap and wants nothing to do with it. 🤣
Same here and the asstros at Amazon sent me another, now I have two with the same stupid problem. Software update and nothing works. Not only that but these people at Amazon lie all the time about everything.
Sorry you’re having that issue. The customer service is hit and miss. I’ve had “better” luck through the Astro app, but when I had a battery issue they said they would send a replacement charger and battery. I only received the charger. So I understand what you mean.
I went into the Astro app. Then settings, then help & feedback and I used the speak with a representative. The chat is not as fast. Once you tap speak to a representative, you put the number you want them to call and (when I did it) someone that knows Astro will call you in a few minutes. It was very quick.
@@gnjadventures Thank you very much! I am in a separate chat window with customer support now and they are giving me the runaround. I will try from the app. Thanks again.
@@TecTimmyon the Astro app, does it say what the charge on Astro is or does nothing come up, if the battery is totally dead, maybe leave it on the charger overnight. One time Astro got stuck while we were gone for the weekend and the battery was completely dead. Set him in the charger and after about 20 mins I was able to turn him on. Just a thought.
@@gnjadventures thanks but this isn’t it. I’m waiting for customer service to call me back. They submitted a ticket. I sent them your video also as an example of the problem
I've tried a bear growl and Astro just goes to a screen and says "here's a bear growl"... I will make a short and put it up tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.
