Last week on a cruise, one of the activities was Music Trivia...Guess the Next Lyric. "Heaven Is A Place On Earth” was one of thesongs played. I can’t get the song out of my head. Excellent work, Scott.
Thanks! I ended up making a transcription of it for another viewer a few months ago. Shoot me an email (in description) if you want me to send it your way. Or feel free to use this as a vehicle for your own transcription! I'm always happy to help.
It doesn't actually go like my fingers want it to go. My intuition and years of rutty playing try to make this less exciting than it really is. Its so rolly. The A part is soooo rolly polly, that's wild. Giving this a go when I get home. Good shit, sir.
Eben's basslines opened my eyes to how I could get creative in my band back when I heard this album when I was 16. You really did it great justice with this awesome cover, great job :)
I'm using some EQ plugins (Pultec EQP-1A, Little Labs VOG) and a compression plugin (LA-2A), but no other effects. I think the original has a tremolo of some kind on the bass part if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for watching!
You are one of the most efficient bass players out there probably. Absolutely zero extra movement, playing with ease, I'd be sweating fucking buckets playing this using fingers. Nailed it.
Thanks for noticing! I've spent years working on my economy of motion, and it feels really good to have that seen and appreciated. If you practice with that in mind you will get there too. Practice with focus and intention, and you'll be crushing it in no time!
It really struck me right away, even more watching your other videos and also probably because I try to focus on that specific element of my own playing as well, although I am far from there :D But the practice has definitely paid off - looks absolutely effortless.
By far the best cover on here man great work. Quick question, how did you get that bass tone? Were you going through plugins on a software or straight with a pedalboard?
