In addition to the history of this film, the man who is playing Captain Barker, whose real name is Bob Bartlett, has an incredible story of his own. He made a number of voyages to the Arctic, including one with Peary, and in one of them they were stuck in the ice for months. He walked hundreds of miles to save the lives of his men. The name of his ship was the Karluk. There are a number of books about this ordeal, and a good wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_voyage_of_the_Karluk

Good to see old Imperial China during the Qing Imperial Era. The old Beijing City Wall built during the early Middle Ages or Antiquity. The shear height and length of the city wall is quite impressive. The railway tracks running alongside the old city wall. Sadly no significant section of the old city wall exists today. The Chinese have a habit of destroying their own history. A people who ignore their past is doomed to repeat the same errors. Lastly the Foreign Concessional Quarters where the Japanese Nationals reside.
Strange film documenting an early era in the 20th century (1900-1999). The high brick wall is at least 35 feet tall. Probably the city wall of some city in China built during the feudal era. We also see Russians, Ukrainians, or Belorussians. This is not Sibera. Siberia is Asian-Russia or Eastern Russia. Eastern Russia are inhabited by Far-East Asian people who resemble the Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese. This is Western Russia or European Russia inhabited by the Slavic People.
There are actually canadian children around. No immigrants. Now there's only greed degeneration, exploitaion, and unhappiness and brainwash ideas to replace normal life. What you have done to yourself
Some great advice; Fear is not cowardly. Fear makes us strong when we need to act. Leaders are responsible for easing the fears of their followers. We are all responsible for helping one another.
Hastings back then -- and Hastings now, with drug addicts running around with swords and gulf clubs, and throwing feces at police officers who respond by firing bean bags. What a joke this city has become.
My grandfather was there then I believe Raymond? A small island off wales then Southampton before you went across the France fight and Belgium for the last three years of the war .
From the start to to the finish of making the shell, how long did it take? I expect with automation of todays factory making it is much shorter in time.
My father bought a 16mm projector when he returned from WW2 and this was one of the films I grew up with. We loved this film. It brings back so many memories.
Looking at the nose numbers on some of the Sea Hurricanes with the red and yellow spinners. Could these be aircraft of 883 Squadron from HMS Avenger? It started life at Yeovilton in October 1941 with 6 Hurricane IB - there are 6 flying here. The Mosquito looks like it is pre-delivery given it has no squadron codes and the bloke seeing it off is not in RAF uniform. The ladies appear to be debarking from a Lockheed Electra used by Trans-Canada Airlines in 1939.
