Your messing with the mass air flow system that is set with the e c u so all your settings and economical running of the car is gone ,for a gain of acceleration very slightly quicker,top end 15 mph less
Good try but although you show what has to be removed in the door you don't show how. The green clip on the rod has a catch at the rear( close to the door panel) and needs to be pulled forward to release. The red bar on the male harness needs to slide forward to allow removal and at the rear of the actuator is a white clip that needs a small screwdriver inserted on a small catch at the bottom which the allows that to release. Also best to remove interior door handle from cable and push cable into space next to glass which then allows easy removal of the actuators. Simple to remove and refit new one or second hand which are readily available from wreckers for around DAUS $100. Grant Tasmania
Just as a safety word to any attempting this, you must decompress the fuel system or you will have a huge mess when the fuel lines are opened. The easiest way to avoid this is by either removing #15 rear relay and starting the engine until it shuts down or attaching a fuel test rig to the fuel rail on top of the engine and relieving the pressure that way. And if you but cheap fuel at the low cost station and not a top tier supplier, you should change filters much sooner. I always use Shell V power and the amount of contaminants in the filter were negligible after 45,000 miles upon inspection.
Hi can someone help me, I’ve got a corsa c also, there’s a black pipe looks like it comes from the radiator I think? Into the big black air box I wanna put a upgrade one on do I just disconnect it
If it’s connected to the air box it won’t be connected to the radiator, because the radiator transfers coolant around the engine & the air box sucks in air and sends it towards the combustion chambers for mixing with the fuel & igniting. If they were connected like you said your engine would be flooded
Hi mate. I know it's a late reply but just in case it helps you or anyone else, the black pipe you're talking about is the cold air feed. It's basically just an air scoop. Fresh air is drawn in from behind the grill in the front bumper just above the radiator and is sucked in to the air box to give the engine a source of fresh air via that pipe. Basically, it means your car is essentially a Subaru... If you're putting on a cone filter like in this video it's best to just remove the top half of the filter box, and the stock filter of course, but leave the bottom half with that pipe still in place. It'll still act as a cold air feed to your nice new 100bhp cone filter and also give you something to wire tie the cone to so it stays put. Hope this helps.
Great Job and thanks for filming it, One thing ,,Outside handle rod to the lock,, Is it adjustable, Same with the inside handle rod, does that have any adjustment,, Only my mates 04 X Type the Drivers door unlocks from the Fob ok ,But the handles inside and out dont do anything, unless he bangs the door halfway to the mirror, then the handles work,,,weird
I have just replaced my 2002.25MY str passenger front actuator and you can do it without removing the door handle. Just displace the white plastic bracket from the top where 2 rubber bungs hold it to the door latch, on re-assembly it is fiddly to re-connect the white plastic bracket but it can be done so less steps involved :)
if you took the top half of the air box and filter and left the bottom airbox tray in the car the pod filter could rest nicely in with no bracket required
why did you bother undoing the screews on the air box instead of just taking the maf off and pushing down and pulling towards you to pull it off the rubbers?
Thanks Steven, I am just about to do this job on my 2000 S-Type. I had thought the problem was caused by my nearside rear door (which is also faulty and a much more difficult job). One piece of advice that I was given by my breaker was to move the electrical connection to the replacement lock and 'close' the lock with a screwdriver. That way you could test its operation before the difficult mechanical work.
it seem that the door locks on these cars are prone to failure,my rear door lock went on this car a few years back,but i tackled that job,it was more difficult,there is a screw behind the plastic trim on the out side of the door handle,which has to come out,hope this helps if you have to change you rear lock.
Thanks Steven, I have successfully replaced the front passenger door lock and my central locking is behaving properly again. Replacing the faulty rear door lock is less critical but I would like to get it done; I have the part. I was aware of the screw hiding behind the plastic trim but am struggling to remove that plastic trim; the front is loose but the rear is still clipped in. I am afraid of breaking the clip. Do you remember if you had to release the clip from the inside of just leaver it from the outside. Cheers, Aidan
Mate, i wish I`d seen this before tackling my brakes lol My pads were in a similar state on one side, and untouched due to rsut sieze on the other. Cleaned it up a bit and now they work, but didn`t apply grease anywhere. So now at least i know I need to do this and where it needs to go. Also, when we (me and my dad) took the caliper off, i just straight removed the caliper bracket bolts out and slide it all off in one piece, instead of removing the slide pins. I take it your not supposed to do that Steve?
For anyone wanting to know about the tool, it's a 'Fuel Line Separator' / 'Quick Disconnect Tool' and is used on air conditioning, transmission and fuel lines of (mainly American) vehicles. They can be bought on ebay in the UK for around £15. Just make sure you get the right one for your vehicle as there are three main types. The one for the Jaguar S-Type is 5/16".
