Love and London is the RU-vid channel for people who want to visit London like they live here (and we've got tips for Londoners too!) If you plan to visit London and want to avoid the overdone and overhyped, this is the channel for you. If you prefer to do all of the touristy things... well, that's not our style.
Jess Dante, Londoner and travel expert, is the woman behind Love and London. She started making videos in her bedroom to help visitors to London enjoy her new city that she'd moved to just a couple of years earlier. Over the years, the videos on the channel have evolved into sharing insider Londoner knowledge that helps even first-time visitors to see a more diverse, local and interesting side of the city.
Hi Jess. Your videos are really helpful. I would like to know how to manage spending in the UK. Can I use cash or do I have to use my debit and credit cards from my country, Barbados?
Hello Jess! I will be in London from Montreal with my kids June 10-20! Heck, maybe we'll cross paths. I noticed that you do not mention in any of your guides (e.g., your 6-day Itinerary) anything about where we can see ancient Roman ruins. Can I suggest you add this on your next updates ?
Southend airport is less then an hour to Liverpool Street. That’s only a fraction longer than from stansted. It’s an airport trying to find its feet after Covid so has all the facilities but is usually so quiet u will race thru security etc. :)
Also where he orchestrated the horrific slow deaths of thousands of women and children by taking all their food. Although it was done out of fear of Japan he did nothing to help them.
I never understood stay on the RIGHT thing. Shouldn't it be stay on the left instead? I mean, when you're driving, slower vehicles stay on left, not on the right.
Just took my third trip to London, stayed in East London for the first time and loved it. It was so much more interesting than the areas I've previously stayed in and forgotten the names of. Amazing dining options.
Finally seeing Jess again, thanks for the tips! But you seemed kind of sad to me in this one. Hope all is okish and it was only caused by those few repetitive/silly questions...xx
Hi, I'm heading to London at the end of the month, and I was wondering if i need my passport for the bub? Or could i just use my Canadian driver's license or picture of my passport?
What prepaid card would you recommend (coming from US) got visa prepaid gift card for canada trip and it did not work anywhere. Dont want to make same mistake. Thanks for all the advice
The Eurostar is totally safe! But to go to the Louvres, you need to take the RER or the metro and switch at Gare de l'est or Châtelet-Les-Halles. You need to watch for pickpocket, but it's not "unsafe".
Also, about zoning, you touched on a bit ... watch when you're booking accommodation. You find a place and it's reasonable but it's zone 5. It's a longer trip to the sites and more expensive. We booked in Tooting but if we'd stayed just a few stops earlier, we would have been zone 2.
I was just back from UK and Ireland today, I only paid for public toilet once in my 20 days there. Malls, pubs, musems etc, all of these you can use for free.
A very important question whuch you will be fab at highlighting is which rail airport links acceot contactless and Oystet. The Stansted Exoress does not accept Oyster and contactless. Be fab and list which links do accept Oyster and contactless and which don't. Such things need repeating.
Thank you for recommending not to do day trips if staying <1 week - this never made sense to me. Regarding over-planning vs not planning, I like to work out my days by plotting routes that cover the attractions that are in walking distance of each other; but on my first day I prefer not to make an itinerary - I'm likely to be jetlagged so I like to have a vague idea of what I might like to see, on foot, but that won't require too much thought - basically I usually plan a 'wander and click' day (which is a good idea anyway, in case of any travel delays - shouldn't have anything booked for that first day + being on your feet means you're less likely to fall asleep & further reduces risk of blood clots associated with long haul flights ie - inactivity). Thanks for your tips - this is the most practical channel I've seen for London yet - will definitely be checking out your other videos
