Yes! Originally Chris ran some rubber spacers but moved to aluminum ones. I'd reach out to Chris on instagram (pnw_bison) to find out how tall they are.
@@JasonExplainsThingswh addy a mean it looks like crap ! That would not go back on without being painted in my garage ! I just did that job and the transmission pan ! They are both painted . And the dip stick !
Hey, how's the ride quality on the rear springs/2R shocks? I've got the Stage 2 kit and I'm not sure if I want to switch over to the 2R rear setup. I thought I'd read that they have different valving between the rear shocks. Stage 2 seems a bit firm in the back, does the 2R soften it up a little?
Definitely happy with the 2R rear shocks. Honestly l… both ride similar from my recollection. The 2R shocks just stay cooler longer and ride better of a longer period of time. Both are great.
Could use a SYE kit, double cardan driveshaft, adjustable control arms and the previously mentioned steering upgrades. This will allow you to get rid of the transfer case drop pucks and regain some ground clearance while properly aligning your driveshaft angles and axles. I'm doing the same on my 2002 TJ. Also adding Centric brake rotors and EBC yellowstuff pads is an inexpensive but highly effective way to boost braking performance.
Would you still recommend a Soft Topper today? And as far as pets, would this be beneficial to pets , example if I was driving across the country with animals in the bed of the truck, with the back window rolled up would there be enough airflow ? Does it hold snow well or load on top, or bend?
In general I would recommend it. I haven’t had issues with some snow on top of it. I don’t let a ton of snow accumulate on top of it but it’s had a fair amount on it overnight before. In terms of animals I believe that Softopper offers some mesh panels. Yeah, never keep a dog or other animal in the back with the rear window down… especially in the summer. It can get pretty hot.
Hey guy. Yeah that’s why we started by admitting this was out of our wheelhouse. We were there to test the new Colorado Bison, and they asked us to film the Silverado HD as well… so we just had fun with it. Thanks for the feedback. 👍
Casual is great, but always like the longer videos. It’s always great to get the family out in the woods together! Nice seeing the 4runner and taco out together! Also, looking forward to a @tinkerersadventure and @jasonexplainsthings crossover-just sayin.
I like the casual filming style. You’re still telling a story, and working in an in use review. I think this video convinced me to go with the sleep inside the 4Runner and get a Gazelle T-4 Hub tent for trips with the Mrs. Thanks!
My wife’s 19 Outback has only 38K miles, so when it hits 100K miles I’m going to start looking for a low mileage 4Runner for her to drive on occasion to work. When her Subie wears out we’ll replace it with a Toyota Crown AWD hybrid. The 4Runner will be for us to take Off roading, as I want my Tacoma TRD to last until my death.
We’re going on section 3 of the BDR next week. This past Thursday we (a friend of mine and I) went from Cashmere to Chelan in my 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed. We had a blast ! We’ll pick up the BDR in Malaga and into Ellensburg. We’ll come back home on I-90 to George and into East Wenatchee, drop my buddy off and come back to our home between Cashmere and Dryden. Jason, thanks for your videos with your trips on the BDR. Washington state is such a beautiful place to live and explore.
the dust is the dealbreaker.. when youre on dirt or gravel roads the bed gets dusty quick. Even with a tonneau cover. Cant sleep in a dusty bed with a soft topper
Great video, Jason! I've just hit 30K on my 2020 and of course, was getting ready to do this next weekend. Your video outlined everything nicely! Thank you!
For sure... so the one i have would work on an Outback but it might be a bit big. A more traditional type that folds out to the side would fit great. I had this one on my Jetta Sportwagon back in the day and it worked very well (prices have gone crazy in recent years though): amzn.to/47z2PQ4
Awesome! When I wear out my Roofnest I'm def going GFC. When I grabbed mine in 2021, they were the only ones who would have got me in the tent for the season. I'm mostly happy with it but I do fear the seal won't last long term. It's seen a lot of great trips though... Edit: also you should do a walk though vid of Nates rig!
