After living in my van for three years, travelling across Europe I decided to make a new life in Portugal. In 2022 I bought and renovated a previously abandoned village house in the seaside resort of Vieira de Leiria. However, after encountering my dream home in September 2023, an old stone house in Monsanto, I decided to sell my house in Leiria and move to Monsanto, 243km north east of Leiria. The inside of the house, barn and adega need a complete renovation and the vinyard and orchard need bringing back to life.
I invite you to come along on this journey with me and I hope that I can inspire you to follow your dreams, whatever they may be. Hit the SUBSCRIBE button and join me.

Congrats on getting so much done. It is looking lovely. Wanted you to know how much I enjoy your posts each week. I not only enjoy the content, but you are an inspiration for anyone - believing in your dreams and going for it! Keep going Susie! you are the best. For your bathroom cabinet, what about a nice earthy taupe color that complements the stones in that space.
Sorry your kitchen does not look right with the two different colours, it should be made with different wood as when it comes to painting wood, it has to all match to get cohesive colour.
Hi Suzie, Steve here from about as far away from Portugal as you can get and be on dry land, Launceston Tasmania! I think what you are doing is fantastic, a gutsy effort and on the whole looking very good. I am concerned about the bathroom ventilation. Are you planning to install an exhaust fan near the shower? With the open area above the wall, steam could get into the rest of the house and cause humidity issues like mold etc. Love your work.
Wow Tasmania 😀 Great to have you here Steve. I have a strong extractor fan directly above the shower. I also will keep the large bedroom window open so I think I’ve got it covered. Thanks for your advice 🙏💕
@@dreamlifeportugal Hi Suzie That is good to hear! Maybe a pan up to the extractor in your next video? Yes, I could not see how this would be missed. Portugal is my favourite country and it is great to see you revitalising a small part. Thank you. A few epesodes ago you planted a small tree which was unnamed. Would it nave been the Mimosa tree a native of Tasmania? BTW my house name (only 100 years old) is "A Nossa Pequena Casa Azul", my little bit of Portugal. Thank you again
Amazing progress! I love your builders! Their work has been so great. I especially love your stone walls. So beautiful. That leaf chandelier is gorgeous! Too much sparkle in your room? 🤔 nah! ✨ I would be scared to shower in there just because of the painted wall and lime wall but the builders know best about what works. MDF does suck in more paint as it’s more porous. Basically like thick cardboard. This is why you need a really good primer to seal the paint. If you do another coat of paint that should help even out the color. I actually love the darker green on the base cabinet. It looks a little more blue on camera. But both greens are nice. I actually loved the beige color of the lime before paint since it matched so well with the stone. But the white is nice too. I think I would keep it light. Helps keep the light and airy feel. My advice is to keep the stones and have the builders place them in your garden across the way. You can definitely use them around your property. I can see you using in small retaining walls, maybe a fire pit and seating area or something cool like that.❤ 24:14 🥽 anyone? 😊
Thank you so much for all this great information. I like the bare wall but unfortunately it had very uneven tones which made it look dirty. In hindsight in the living room I should have kept it as a stone wall. We are putting a sealant on the two walls in the shower to protect the walls and I am definitely keeping the rocks. Like you say useful for so many things in the garden. I will start making a design plan soon 😀💕
a beautiful and cozy little house with all the amenities required for you. Congratulations! Has the septic tank been completed and the pipes from bathroom become functional? Enjoy your new home.
Hi Suzi, wow what a gorgeous home you have! i would go with same color of shower , sink for the bathroom cupboard, tie it all in. How did they do with the sky lights, the wood was popping..its all coming together nicely.
Hello. Im Ana and im from a village near to Vila Velha de Rodão, but im leaving in the uk for almost 12 years, in noth London I follow your channel for a while, and i love it!! 😊 your home is turning beautiful, hope you enjoy it it for many years and have a really happy moments there with friends or family to create good memories 🥰😘 if was me i would paint the bathroom cabinet in grey 😉
Hi Ana, I know your village. I’m happy you can get your see some of your country watching my videos. Grey for the cabinet seems to be the popular choice 😀💕
What an achievement, and such good work as well. Your home looks lovely. Now you can live comfortably while you turn your attention more to the land. It all looks so very very nice, and so well deserved Suzy. 👍🏼💚
Stunningly beautiful stone walls, which goes so well with the painted white walls. I’m not a fan of the two tone kitchen green colour and would just paint the surrounds the same colour as the doors, as the two greens don’t blend together. Perhaps repaint the whole kitchen again with the one colour green, then it would be perfect! Love your chandeliers, especially the leaf one! 😍
As i'm green person ,love the green ,cause i woul d be putting very light green on the white wall ,The light fitting are beautiful ,Are you sure its sunburn ,not all those men you 've had ,working for you ,Just love your home ,Happy living ,Green so restful on those eyes ,🍷🍾👍👍
Hello, very interesting, everything looks very pretty on you, you should paint the bathroom cabinet in a yellow or mustard color, it would match you very well. Don't paint green, you already have a lot of green.....a hug, I will continue to see your progress as well when you continue. fixing the exterior and gardens
It has all turned out so beautiful Suzi and I am so happy for you. I'm curious where you purchased the light fixture that you put together. It's really beautiful.
Fantastic!! What a journey. You deserve this wonderful home. I am looking forward to watch the time lapse soon. Could you please add the ballpark amount you spent on this renovation? For the ones of us dreaming of doing something similar, it would be really appreciated. Kudos!
