Hello. Are the shots processed on tiff or jpeg? Thanks😊
@jacobfield2214
@jacobfield2214 26 дней назад
They're all straight out of camera JPEGs! It does shoot TIFF, which I'm sure a more experienced editor could get better results on. I only tend to play with the luminosity / RGB curves a tiny bit when I do edit photos from this camera.

@jacobfield2214 2 месяца назад
I honestly think it was probably just the built in mic :P If it was I was likely using a Sony RX100IV at the time. If it wasn't that, it was a lapel mic, the aputure a.lav lavalier microphone. I think I got it on Amazon but that was years ago so no idea if you can still but it.

I have the same problem and indeed tried flipping the magnet, but no luck. Where you able to get any further yourself? I also observed that with the sensor out it will still be upside down (of course there is only a 50-50 chance of course in terms), but when I flip the panel up it still flips up as well (apparently that's not using the sensor). So I guess the initial orientation at startup comes from the magnet sensor.
@jacobfield2214
@jacobfield2214 3 месяца назад
@@Thunderbird2k85 Do be aware there are several magnets - you might need to play around with them a little bit. For me, the one I showed was what I needed, but there were a few others around the screen too.

Just about the only Forth on C64 programme I wrote was to talk to an SPO256 board. Did Maplin make them as a kit back then? Forth was perfect for defining allophones as words then combining them into english words which played back their definitions. Then in a few years the Amiga had text to speech built into the OS! It was a great time.

Hey, Jacob. Great project and video. Liked and subscribed. Using Arduino IDE 2.2.1 and importing your speech library gives me "error 13 INTERNAL: Library install failed: archive is not valid: multiple files found in zip file top level." Do you have any ideas on this, please? UPDATE: Works as expected on Arduino IDE 1.8.9
@jacobfield2214
@jacobfield2214 8 месяцев назад
I haven't updated the library in years - so it's not surprising there are issues. I don't have time to troubleshoot or support much right now, but I suspect that it just doesn't like the library format since it was made for an old version of the Arduino IDE. If you want to use it with the newer version, the files should still work fine - you'll just need to learn what the correct folder organization is for the library and reorganize it. Glad you got it working though!

It would be possible, but that's not currently something I have the time to do. If you'd like to try making one yourself, I think something similar to what I did but using a microcontroller with build in bluetooth (like the ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico W) would work well.

Unfortunately not an instructable I ever wrote. If I recall correctly, for 720kB floppy systems with two floppy drives, you have to load one piece of Windows 2.03 onto each floppy disk, and then run windows after you've booted into MSDOS. It's been a while since I even had this laptop though, so that's about all I remember.

Note: You should probably actually use SystemVerilog, not Verilog like I used in this video. There are minor differences that could cause issues copying the SV code directly from the book, so you could run into errors if you use Verilog instead of SystemVerilog.

i wanted to make microtonal music on saa1099 - so instead of using a lookup table, that i think is what is used for a 12tet, how can we calculate hertz frequencies to register values? i thought saa1099 is a kind of 256tet, but the sound is totally weird from what i expected

I'm not sure precisely what you're trying to do, but I'd recommend reading the datasheet. It's free online and will have all the details you need to figure out how/if the SAA1099 can do that

Hi! Two things this video is missing that any beginner should know: 1) Always wear safety glasses -- no really! Resin core solder will spit little balls of 100+ degree resin in any direction, regardless of where your eyes are. 2) You will need some way to ventilate the rather toxic solder fumes away from you. In a pinch, blowing them out a window with a fan will work, but ideally you would use a solder extractor. A cheap one that I use personally is here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F5DN2B8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sounds cool. Had a a couple Votrax SC-01As and connected them to my Model I TRS-80. Just bought this chip off eBay and the seller said he was selling from a lot bought in the 80's and that they were originally used in FuzzBuster Radar Detectors. According to the seller the Radar detectors were ahead of their time and expensive. So they didn't sell well.
@jacobfield2214
@jacobfield2214 3 года назад
The Votrax ones sound a lot better than this one if I remember correctly -- but they're unfortunately pretty rare these days and much more expensive than the SPO256-AL2. I would have used one of those if they weren't so expensive!

I made this arduino SAA1099 player. So awesome! Now I'm trying to make a synth out of the SAA1099 using a Teensy. I have a long way to go since I just learned basic Arduino programming but you helped me with the part I had no knowledge of: Building the circuit. This video is fantastic and I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for helping me make several audio projects with Arduino. Your articles are well written and easy to understand, and you've inspired me to explore further with the Arduino as a musical instrument.

What's the update of your electric car project?
@jacobfield2214
@jacobfield2214 3 года назад
Well... I eventually got it driving with battery packs salvaged from a Nissan Leaf, and that was pretty fun! Took it to a STEM fair and drove it to work a couple of times. But I've moved to college and it didn't make sense to keep the car... Despite its shortcomings it was an excellent gateway drug, and now I'm hooked on electric cars! Currently driving another obscure (but actually free-way capable) vehicle, the 2011 Think City. Thought about making a video about it, but it's quite a bit of work, so...
