Welcome my newest vehicle to the channel! It's an electric car, and you've probably never heard of it. Unless you've seen some of @simone_gierts' videos, in which case - welcome, fellow fan!
It's a 1980 Comuta-Car. I won't go into deep detail, since the specs are noted in the video. If you want all the nitty gritty details, either check out the Instagram blog @explosive_golfcart, or read the blog post I wrote: invendiscovry.b...
This is gonna be a big, long, awesome project, so expect to see lots of videos related to the CCar, li-ion batteries, and relevant topics on the channel.

This thing is 100% adorable. Keep us updated! I would suggest updating its powertrain, but I am afraid it will rip itself to pieces going over a speed bump :D

I've thought about a more powerful motor as well- But I agree, I'm skeptical it'd even handle 65MPH. I suspect (interpret as hope) that my li-ion batteries will let it go faster, since they're 14.8V nominal versus the original lead-acid batteries, which were 12V. (48V originally versus 59.2V with my new batteries.)

Jacob- Sweet video. Appreciate your attention to detail in editing and your compatibility with my sense of humor which seems to be on the decline. I've liked and subscribed as it seems you're more than a year ahead of me in your resto. My CommutaCar doesn't drive and is currently wrapped up in a tarp in the front yard much to the dismay of my neighbors. Liked and subscribed. Be well!

I just picked up a 1980 Comutacar as well. It is in excellent shape. Its been upgraded to 60 volts and a motor controller.

Yup! It's the same model. Someday I intend to get mine and Simone Giert's cars together. I might even call mine "Cheese Luis" XD

Hah, no XD I'm just bad at following up -- I did eventually get it driving with batteries, but then I needed to move to college and it didn't make sense to keep the car. Well... I eventually got it driving with battery packs salvaged from a Nissan Leaf, and that was pretty fun! Took it to a STEM fair and drove it to work a couple of times. But I've moved to college and it didn't make sense to keep the car... Despite its shortcomings it was an excellent gateway drug, and now I'm hooked on electric cars! Currently driving another obscure (but actually free-way capable) vehicle, the 2011 Think City. Thought about making a video about it, but it's quite a bit of work, so...
