It's 100% true that being on the opposite side IS hard!! Glad that your guest lecturing is fulfilling and creative work for you. (ps Prague ... isn't in Germany, tho)
Good morning. I live in Dublin Ireland. I've lived here all my life. My name is Omena. I'm looking forward to making a friend here in Dublin. Looking forward to hearing from you.
In France I’ve been to Biarritz, Bayonne and Paris. They are all way different vibes - if you want a city and good party scene Paris it is but if you want relaxation and beaches I’d say Biarritz.
I’d say I’m always keenly aware of my Black womanhood wheneever I travel. However during the time we were in Croatia it was quite calm. People were generally friendly, slightly curious and we didn’t encounter any unsolicited comments. For me, I’d feel very comfortable revisiting by myself and encouraging others to go.
@@bloomy27 this is a great question. A bit hard to answer because Croatia was a 4 day visit and I’ve lived, studied and worked in Ireland for almost 2 years now. I’d say both places people are generally nice. Ireland has a way bigger Black community so you’re less of a spectacle. Also because Ive spent a lot of time in Ireland, I’m more well attuned to how micro-aggressions present themselves at work and school (especially anti-immigrant sentiment). But on the surface - I felt welcome in Croatia and feel comfortable living in Ireland.
as Croat i can say that we have some rude people, not racial rude- more grumpy rude, like any country, . but also we have long mix history from European, Asian and African countries, so we understand cultural diffrence, when Croatia was part of Yugoslavia we had black excange students, while country like Belgia, UK, French still haved power grasp in Africa ... and also as one of Slavic countries we remeber history about slavery(from 6-7 century) and how Slavs were slaves, send to acros Europe, Asia and Africa., .. we say that Slavs ae Mexican of Europe, always left behind and looked as lesser..
