If you made a video of a full job of Kurtis welding I would watch the whole thing, because I love watching people who put their heart and soul in what they do, the video quality would be the icing on the cake!

The best part of this repair was you Karen suggesting the Harry Potter thing... and Wizard Kurtis flying the inner pipe 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤. Also your question of " is that (inner tube) meant to be bent like that?" Until I saw the offset join on one end then realised, it was meant to be slightly offset, not as twisted as a corkscrew. 😮😮😮. Great video you two. Have a great week. From Adelaide.
I am so enjoying this Franna restoration so much. Two months ago, who would have thought that watching hydraulic cylinders being overhauled or remanufactured on the lathe and mill would be such an enjoyable time spent during the evenings! Beats all the rubbish on public TV, hands-down for sure. And certainly, Karen's video skills are right up at the top of her game, lifted up high by Kurtis' pristine hydraulic products and skills! Homey is certainly skilled at opening incoming courier boxes. He's quite the Safety Officer! 🤣 Cheers from David in Christchurch, NZL!
Took an extra long weekend away from the city rat race crap so I'm really late on this one! But at least I have something to watch tonight! Cheers as always!
Very nice. For the life of me I couldn't see how you were going to get the correct bend on that inner tube. Then I realised it didn't need to be that accurate, just had to go through the hole in the end which had enough clearance for welding.
Wow. I know nothing about this stuff, but I'm fascinated by the intricate accuracy of the lathe. Particularly when you're threading the bolt and going over it again, and it mills in exactly the same place each time! Fascinating. Thank you.
Meh, the capitalist society makes no sense, as teh public and natiional system it makes sense, as the governing system metal and fabricating engineers of society pass on and go to cults within teh rule, typical roman systems, adn protecting eating. The age and x-ray, should then be remilled and then re forged... The money demand and paper demand, its so strange how madness has happened from paper currency and taxation, and nonsense to a relation of what an act is to an action so what ought ot happen is ignored. lol
Visit 2 tonight. It really is a great recovery my friends. You saved the owner thousands of $. It takes me back to younger times before retiring. I would have had a great time working for you folks. Every day you never know what is coming in the door day to day. Take care and see you next post eh !
If you want, you could shorten up that signal cable to get rid of that big bundle of flexible conduit. The connector itself looks to be held together with screws, so you disassemble it, write down which color goes where, hold the cable up with a bit of room to spare, lop it off, and resolder all the wires.
fun fact the way everything around us are made , and i’m talking about human made stuff they are made to fail so you have to spend money in order to get it to work except some of the hand made stuff were simple methods are used to keep the machine working for the longest time possible like this good guy 😊
Kurtis, have you investigated using synthetic rope to re-string the Franna? I've been watching a heavy tow guy up in Oregon who restrung his 30 ton Wrecker with Yankum synthetic ropes. 200 ft on each 30 ton winch and he plans on adding the same to his smaller wrecker. I am very impressed with this and, seeing as you are relatively near the ocean, using synthetic might help keep your ropes from rusting out so quickly. I know there are other brands, those are just the ones that this gentleman uses and recommends. See Casey LaDelle on YT.
Fun fact: most forklifts will lift another forklift of about the same size. You just have to snuggle up to the side and lift it by the roll cage up high using the tilt function. Ask me how I know this :)
Question; watching Kurtis change out the tool deck on the lathe I noticed some surface rust on the side of the bit that held the lathe bit. Is surface rust something your constantly chasing? I notice your 3 jaw and 4 jaw lathe heads are clean and they seem pristine. Are you bathing everything in wd40 or something else? And easily putting the hoopdedoo in the inner tube was a complete surprise. Is that something you learned in school?
I wonder if he has an actual sale pending on this rod, or he’s just taking up the challenge? I’m thinking this will not be a cheap fix. Karen’s “ no pressure” statement at the beginning got me to thinking. I’ll bet there’s some money riding on this job.
