Valerie's presentation at the 2009 International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI) in Vancouver BC inspired a thorough revision of BC's elementary and high school curriculum that was deployed gradually between 2013 and 2016. The primary curriculum changes revolved around raising awareness of systemic racism, gender discrimination, and practicing constructivist theory, thus setting the stage for weaving Indigenous Ways of Knowing throughout.
