Hey everyone - my name is Meagan and I’m just a normal 30ish year old woman that wants to share her CRPS journey with you, hoping it might help just one person! I’m also a self taught makeup/skincare connoisseur. Since the CRPS has spread to my hands, I am not able to spend as much time on my makeup. I would also love to share makeup tips/tricks/tutorials that might help other people like me or anyone interested!! My story - I broke my back in 2019 which lead to a fusion. I woke up with a rare neurological disorder called CRPS (also known as the suicide disease). CRPS is when the nervous and immune system malfunction as they respond to tissue damage. The nerves misfire sending constant excruciating pain to the area. 7% of people that have CRPS are “lucky enough” for it to spread…I now have full body CRPS. My journey is learning to cope and handle the pain and I hope I am able help someone with chronic pain or CRPS through this channel.
Well, Meg, there you are! I was literally just thinking about you today, hoping you were well. Coincidentally, my husband, whose mother was on dialysis for years before she died, just reversed his own kidney disease from Stage 3 to Stage 2 by eating mostly carnivore. @@MeaganAlford Whatever you're doing that is working and sustainable for a lifetime, that's what you should do. Keto is amazing. I started with ketogenic, then ketovore (mostly meat based) and now am mostly carnivore. Wishing you the best with your health, always! 💖😊

Hiya, sweetie, good to see you so chatty! I have been hypothyroid for well over 20 years and only in the last five years have I found the answer for me in the weight department. I went ketogenic, then ketovore (mostly animal-based) and lately, almost 100% carnivore, very few carbohydrates. I used to weigh right at 200 lb and was sugar-addicted, but now, I'm down to the same weight I was as a teenager and married my husband. The best two things are that I am rarely ever hungry and even when the scale doesn't move, the body reshapes itself, even without exercise (though I walk miles per day and lift weights). At 67, I take only my thyroid pill, no other medications and have more lean muscle mass than I ever did. My BMI is now about 22 after years of it being about 35. It's just the proper, natural human diet with no seed oils, sugar or grains. Hope you find what works well for you! By the way, my husband is eating that way, too, though he cheats at times with something breaded. He keeps having to pull his belt in another notch, though his back pain is never getting better-his degenerative disc disease is very far advanced and you can't grow disc material back, unfortunately. I love that you live the keto/carnivore lifestyle! I went keto in 2017, lost 50 pounds and got amazing health and brain benefits from this way of eating. A few pounds crept on over the years but I maintained fairly well until the last couple of years. I started eating processed carbs and sugars until all the weight came back so now I'm back to being overweight along with not feeling great. I started back 5 days ago but with more of an emphasis on protein. I guess they're calling that high protein modified fat or ketovore? Not sure which but it's my goal to get back to where I was in 2017 when I felt so wonderful! I'm glad you shared your story! I love reading people's testimonies when their health and weight problems are cured just by eating real food rather than pharmaceuticals!
@@Shell0903 Actually, I eat moderate protein/high fat and it's worked beautifully. Women tend to need much more fat (if it's good animal fat) than they usually consume. Of course, high fat on a high carb way of eating would have the opposite effect. The protein/fat is the way I stay away from the doctor more than once a year to do the thyroid maintenance testing. 💫🤩 Fantastic video Meagan! I want to interject one thing I think you may have forgotten because you were in a haze after your infusion. Since I (Mom 😘) took care of you the first week after your surgery, the weird thing is that whenever you would wake up, you would almost cry about extreme hip pain. Your surgery was on your back but you kept saying your hip was killing you... same leg the webbing started on. That was the CRPS but we didn't know it at the time. Also, we can lose our weight together. I started yesterday and I'm going to lose my 55 pounds this time! And yay, now that you're healing, we're going on some trips together!!! 💖
Meagan!! I meant to comment yesterday, but I am embroiled in decisions about my own potential move. I have had you on my mind for a few weeks and I'm glad to see your lovely face and the mini-me with you at Target.I haven't walked into a Target for years; they're all back in "civilization", LOL. I knew you were in the middle of moving so I didn't leave any comments/messages. Moving is a royal pain and especially in this insane market. We're exploring building a small house on one of our extra adjoining lots, but we're sort of afraid that the market will crash and we won't get enough for our house after being on the hook for the other one. Ugh, decisions! I'm going to distract myself by starting seeds for the garden season today. Tip for you from a dermatologist....if you want a natural deodorant that really works, get one with zero baking soda because it sets up the wrong pH. I use a few that work and they're actually cheap because of no baking soda. Did you buy a larger house or just want a different area or different type floor plan, if you don't mind me asking? I used to be a realtor in another life so I'm always curious. You made me laugh about the welcome mats. I want one that says "GO AWAY". Love your dog, so handsome! I love big dogs. I used to be a realtor too and hated it 🤣🤣🤣 We’re currently saving and waiting for the market to go back down first, but we’ll build again. I love building homes! Well, watching them be built 🤣😊 Yeah the market is so worrisome right now. We were worried about selling too, but definitely made the most sense for us. I’m going to start a garden this spring/summer! First time so I’ve got some research to do! I’ve missed talking to you and I’m glad to be back. I would personally try everything before spine surgery ! Personally, my back is better than ever after two years of various body movements, learned from Stuart McGill and his books, starting with the back mechanic and also using the Feldenkrais technique Movements and various body weight exercises and According to my MRIs. My back is very damaged from hard, physical labor, car and motorcycle accidents, etc. But now my back is doing great so there is hope! back pain can be scary😂
The hardest part is remembering to not bend, lift or twist. I started doing laundry the day I came home. My grabber tool has gotten quite the work out and I used the laundry (light loads) in the basket as light resistance by pushing the basket in front of me alternating legs. No lifting or bending.
I just had very similar procedure done. I also have fibromyalgia, high blood pressure and diabetes. My surgeon performed mine over 2 operations a week apart. One long scar under my ribcage and 3, 2" incisions and a button whole on each hip. Worked great back, leg and hip are pain free for the first time in 8 years. My Dr was very concerned with managing the pain due the fibromyalgia. He did a great job. By the time I left the hospital I was taking Tylenol arthritis. I wish I had done this so much sooner.
you got this from getting a L4-L5 Fusion? You didnt experience this before your fusion? I have to get a L4L5 fusion and this freaks me out. I am sooo sorry you are dealing with this..
Thank you. I got this from the fusion. It’s super rare, but obviously something that can happen. I had never heard of it previously. I hope your nerves ease a little!! Sending you all of the good vibes your way.
Just had an L3-S1 posterior fusion done on 20 Nov 2023, due to an exercising incident. You mentioned the log roll and wishing that you had practiced it before you went to the hospital. My surgeon asked that I practice a few times prior to surgery and I am glad that he did. I believe that I saved myself from a fair amount of pain. As to the pain specifically, I am currently 7 days post-op. While my pain is well managed, you really need to understand your meds, your tolerances for them and for pain and stick to a medication schedule, the pain of this surgery can only be described as incredible. I had one herniated disc (L3-L4), two ruptured discs (L4-L5 and L5-S1), a cyst on L3-L4 and a 5mm offset at L5-S1 from spondylithesis. After surgery, the lack of feeling in my legs is gone, the pain from the damage is gone. But the pain from surgery and, like you, for some reason my hips and quads is really just quite intense. I wish all of us on here a speedy recovery.
What were you taking for pain? I have a very low pain tolerance and I’m having an L4 and five in a couple weeks. Also, do you know what your screws and hardware were made out of I am very allergic to stainless steel and nickel. I have not talk to the doctor for six months as it was a six month wait for the surgery but I will be talking to his nurse in a couple days and I have 1 million questions for her.
I had that done on March 5, 2021. I only had to spend one night in the hospital. Was able to walk without a walker or cane the next day. I am glad I had it done. I kept up with my walking. This was all done before COVID vaccines so no visitors and I had to see my surgeon and PT by video for check-ups (I did go get X-rays though). It took a year to recover. I am very glad I had it done.
The palette and the artwork are beautiful. I love purples and greens together in an eye look. That shade on the inner third of the lid is WOW. That look on you is stunning, Meg, and really makes your eyes pop. Of course, it seems that most women around my "seasoned" age always wear neutrals, which is fine and I've done those looks, but I love me some shimmer! Guess I'll be the crazy old lady on the hill that everyone whispers about because of my wild purple and green eyeshadow combos, LOL. Have a great week!~Cynthia
