Hi, mate! Could you please tell me about clutch and front brake hoses? I have monkey bar and there is not enough length to install them. Could you please advise where to buy suitable hoses, and how did you solve that problem?
Did you have to buy cable extensions? I wanted to put apes but cable extension/kits for those are minimum 500$. I’ll do t bars if they’ll reach without extensions or kits
The issue with the cables is that Yamaha makes them longer so if you decide to add risers etc you can without changing cables. That makes it difficult to hide them away. The stock seat is definitely not great for long rides. I switched to a Mustang seat it’s like night and day.
I have had my Raider for 11 years. I wanted to see your thoughts. You nailed all the things I dislike about the Raider minus the throttle control. You can adjust the cables to be more responsive. Fuel capacity and 35mpg is my 1 complaint. Seats could be way more comfortable and aftermarket are super expensive. I disliked the aggressive riding position for long rides so I put 14 inch apes on mine. When I rode solo the Raider was perfect but now that I always ride in groups the road captain schedules fuel stops for my bike because the Harleys can go almost twice as far. I think its time for a Road King Special.
Awesome review! I’m close to getting my Vstar 1300 Ivan’s ECU flash. I changed the pulley stock 30T to the 31T Stryker pulley already. I have a stage 1 (air kit and 2 into 1 exhaust). My bikes making 100hp so the pulley change with this really stretches the gears out and making the 5th gear almost like a 6th gear
Riding to work on my Raider in the dark...and seeing this video again...just reminds me of hiw great this motorcycle is!! Nothing against any other fantastic machine!!! Just me saying that I Love my Raider......rode the Rocket 3, rode a Bussa...glided on a G wing.....but like a favorite blankie.....my Raider feels like an extension of myself!!! Fastest...no, most beautiful, probably not, greatest...only inmy mind....but really...to me that's all that matters!!
You absolutely nailed it. I have a 2012. The fuel tank looks big but it holds like you said 4.1 or 4.2 gallons. I'm too worried about long distance rides without knowing where gas stations are.
I have a 96 H.D. heritage softail, 07 Yamaha R1, and a Yamaha Raider, but I also have a business that takes me away from riding for some time. When I do find time, both Yams will slowly whine to life while the HD needs jumped. Now the HD is leaking oil, and I haven't riden it in over 8 months...wtf!
What exhaust are you running , your bike sounds sweet! I’m trying to figure out what system to buy, I want a deep low tone that’s not hard on my ears on the road. Or waking up my neighborhood just to go to work lol

i bought one a few months ago a 2015 900 miles on it. i put on chrome wheels sissybar a new rear seat. and i repainted it myself but i am a old custom painter. also a power commander and new loud exhaust. and a oil cooler. as far as throttle response it isnt all that bad. but i adjusted mine so it is a lil bit better. now the bike has over 3500 miles on it and i put on a 240 rear tire. he for 4500 bucks you cant beat the bike. i also have a honda 1100 shadow sabre and a vtx 1800. i do prefer the raider. fast enough for this old 69 yr old man lol words of wisdom ,,,, ride it like you stole it.
hell ive been riding for years never even heard of this bike till a week ago, but i never thought of yamamha as being a big bike. beautiful styling handling. and POWER! i have 3 other bikes. a honda 1100 vtx a 1800 vtx and a 2019 goldwing. well i found one of these last week for 4500.00 1800 miles. candy red. bought it. ive been riding since 1970 only been harley till the last 2 years. this thing out performs any harley i have owned. after owning over 30 harleys over the years. i would never buy another one. this thing is nasty. so is my 1800 vtx. gold wing.. highway long distance cruiser. but this raider? lol you better know how to ride or you will endup on your ass. bike will keep going you wont catch it lol this is a secret rhat i never knew. one hell of a bike
these bikes are definatly a powerhouse even in stok form i kinda wanna cam mine just for the hell of it i got cobra long shots on mine nothing sounds more killer then mine, if youre thinking about buying a raider stop it and just do it they rock. i am contemplating a second one for fun or a warrior its little brother
Interesting video and comments. I have a 2014 Yamaha VStar 1300 deluxe. I have the Ivan's ECU flash done and also installed the Cobra Powerflo air intake and slip-on muffler. The bike runs good and I guess there is a bit more power (I only run 89 octane). My mileage seems to be about the same. One thing I have found that when I throttle down, it sounds like a loud jake brake. Sometimes the motor seems to hum? I still get some backfire occasionally. I don't know if this is because of getting the Ivan's flash done or something else? One thing I did which I was told by Ivan was to disconnect the O2 sensor. I've talked to bike mechanics I know locally and they seem to have a contradictory opinion that and say it needs to be engaged? I am thinking about installing some NGK Iridium spark plugs and see if that makes any difference.
I don't understand all these people who want a 6 th. gear , I have never even come close to red lining my bike . On the other hand I own a BMW K 1200 ad it has a 6 speed close ratio gearbox and it is a pain it the ass for relaxed riding , all you do is shifting up and down , the whole time . The lack of fuel capacity is valid though , on long trips it gets irritating .
Hey bro, I love ya channel. I’m considering getting a Raider. I currently have a tuned Gixxer 750. I love my bike but at 42 years old I love the speed but my back don’t . I never rode a cruiser. I always thought they were slow and heavy. Power wise is the Power of the Raider significantly slower that a sportbike or is it decent to where you can go from 40 to 100 relatively quickly? The power of a cruiser will never compare to the power of a sport bike. They are slow and heavy. I went from a sport bike to a cruiser at 30 years old and put a lot of work into my cruiser trying to make it pull hard in the upper rpms. It's nothing like a sport bike. I'm 50 and I've had both, and trust me, you have to grow out of that sport bike thrill before you can truly appreciate the cruiser feel. Maybe you need an FJR1300
If someone wanted to hot rod this bike, there's many opportunities in reducing weight. Expensive, yes, but opportunities. Those stock wheels and brake rotors have to be beastly heavy. Stock suspension, the forks need higher spring rates. Upgrading the rear shock would help the power connect. Some kind of forged wheels, or carbon fiber wheels, much less material in the brake rotors, the 35 pound drop on the exhaust, removing all the factory restrictions in the ECU, lithium battery, etc. etc.
I have a red 2014, telling ya bro, the best muscle cruisers out there!! I know, m109, and stuff....get out!!! Yammy all the way my guy!!! Nothing compares the quality of ride, the raw power, and that knowledge that they were really the leaders in how to build a big bad bike!!! They have the engineering know how, and had it before everyone else!!!
