I commuted on my Raider every day for years. I discovered a problem though. I could make the commute IN to work in about an hour, but for some reason it would take 3 or 4 hours to get home! And it would always take me through some hills way out of the way. Ha.

I live in Jacksonville Florida, have a 2014 Yamaha Raider...and all this time I thought that I was the only one with this problem!!! Lol! See...I work at a shipyard that has two directions home...one scenic, one congested! Somehow by action of the flux resistor I seem to get stuck taking the scenic route... which is about 2 hours vs. 45 minutes the other way! Other than that little mishap...the Raider is an awesome daily commuter!! 42 mpg even....my Toyota doesn't even get that!!

Thanks for chiming in on this my friend!!! I was a rare person like you who saw the Raider and said "yes", that's the one!!! Been riding it ever since!!! Watch all your videos and was even mulling over the idea of finding out about that one with the gravel road at the steep incline and downgrade!!! Lol. What's a big beautiful bike for unless you find out just what you both can do!? Anyway... I'd realistically probably chicken out anyway being a logically thinking individual! But dad gum it sounded good! Thanks Seventh Letter, and thanks also Rydeking!! Because of you 7L, I took a chance on my dream, and thanks to you RK...I got the intestinal fortitude to make my commute to work... it's been absolutely a wonderful experience ever since!!! Thanks guys!!! Please keep putting out the positivity to us others out here trying to make it!! Thanks 👍

I bought the 2008 when it came out. Stopped riding, and got rid of the bike. But I miss it so much, I bought the same bike again 2014. I'm going to keep this one.

Riding to work on my Raider in the dark...and seeing this video again...just reminds me of hiw great this motorcycle is!! Nothing against any other fantastic machine!!! Just me saying that I Love my Raider......rode the Rocket 3, rode a Bussa...glided on a G wing.....but like a favorite blankie.....my Raider feels like an extension of myself!!! Fastest...no, most beautiful, probably not, greatest...only inmy mind....but really...to me that's all that matters!!

I've got quick detach bags, backrest/luggage rack and windshield on my 14. Can go anywhere. Long trips, short trips, commuting.

I commute on my Raider all the time. Work, pleasure, running small errands. Any excuse to ride and im on it! I put 7000 miles on it last year lol

Hell yeah I love my 07 Raider still keep all maintenance up to date prestine I take care or my bike I agree all what your saying once you hit the highway head turner pure power it just I moved from Nj to Tx once spring hit I put up my truck & ride feels good and the Yamaha raider is affordable wit all what a person is looking for in my opinion

Love the raider but hoping to add a Stryker to my garage here shortly I’ve only ridden dirt bikes and friends bikes want the raider but I’m gonna start with the Stryker first I’m a bit of a shorter guy and fit the Stryker a bit better

What is your feelings on having the 240 rear tire? I’m thinking of switching over from the stock 210. But people and the Yamaha dealer are telling me that it effects the handling and performance of the bike.

Honestly Since I’ve owned the Raider it’s always had the 240. But the handling is great in my opinion. If your a confident and skilled rider you’ll have no problems getting into tight corners. And at highway speeds (85+) it feels planted.

I put a 240 on mine last tire change, only maybe 600 miles on it max since then. No problems, no issues, handles great.
