I’m Melissa, welcome to my channel ☺️ Hope this finds you well, & you stay a while!
I’m a mom, wife, & old soul! I’ve journeyed down rocky roads and have since found profound fulfillment, joy, & beauty in the every day simple life. We’ve recently moved into a historic 1908 victorian in a small coastal town, & are slowly making it our own! Here, you can expect thrifting (cottage-style vintage & antiques), decorating, food & family, & hopefully some encouragement as we find beauty in our every day lives together! I've found it's better to prioritize peace over striving for perfection, & am passionate about cultivating a peaceful sanctuary at home.
I'm looking forward to sharing what I’m learning on this journey in the most authentic way, & I hope you will follow along 🥰
Please introduce yourself--I can't wait to build a community & have some fun! xo, Melissa 💐
Another wonderful thrifting trip, so fun seeing all the Treasure! All these phone calls, I guess I will have to finish watching tonight, at least I got to see the Lovely antique butter dish! So sweet Olivia thrifted with you!
Thank you so much for joining us today, my fellow old souls! I know I need a selfie stick to get better shots in the thrift store 😅 I hope you can bear with me 🙏🏼Have you been thrifting or antiquing lately? Remember, this is in collaboration with a couple other thrifty RU-vid friends: ru-vid.com/group/PL0ps8N8PMvXJnLyOdo4sKojJg5KW8Xlh-&jct=163km-4E5hgqfrKtf_g7pw
Hello. So relaxing vlog. Beautiful house. Nice to hear your voice. I also love Jane Eyre. And this was my first read novel in this style. Then I just fell in love with literature))) I wish you a good Sunday ❤❤❤❤
@@vlogbyannielife Hi! Thank you so very much for such a sweet comment! It was one of my first novels of that kind too! many, years ago. I hope you have a wonderful day as well! 🥰
Thanks so much for being here, my fellow old souls! Here is the recipe: Pumpkin Spice Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting: Ingredients: For the Cookies: • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened • 1 cup brown sugar, packed • ½ cup granulated sugar • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree • 1 large egg • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour • 1 tsp baking soda • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional) • ½ tsp salt For the Cream Cheese Frosting: • 8 oz cream cheese, softened • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened • 2 cups powdered sugar • 1 tsp vanilla extract • A pinch of cinnamon (optional) Instructions: For the Cookies: 1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. 2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the pumpkin puree, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined. 3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon (if using) and salt. 4. Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. 5. Scoop: Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie. 6. Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cookies are set and slightly golden around the edges. Allow them to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. For the Cream Cheese Frosting: 1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy. 2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined. 3. (Optional) Add a pinch of cinnamon to the frosting for extra fall flavor. Assemble: 1. Once the cookies have cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting on top of each cookie. 2. Optionally, sprinkle a little extra cinnamon or pumpkin spice on top for garnish. Enjoy! These cookies are soft, full of pumpkin spice flavor, and perfectly paired with the creamy sweet frosting:)
Love the coziness of your video and decorating. I am definitely a head to seasonal girl specially for fall because we live in the south and don’t get the beautiful fall outdoors so I bring it in my decorating 😀🍁🍂 Love your fireplace/hearth and your floors in your kitchen 😍 Beautiful job decorating with layers and fall decor throughout your home and gorgeous porch Ps I hope you and your loved ones are/were OK through the hurricane?
@@littlehouseonmetairie729 Thank you so much!! I love that you bring the season into your decorating since you don’t have it outdoors! There’s always a way to create an environment we love! Thank you for your sweet words, it means so much. We are all okay, so our community is helping those who are not okay in the mountains 😔 I appreciate you 🫶🏼
I could really relate to you in this video and so glad I happened on to it. I love moving furniture around it gives you such a feeling of achievement, and besides you get that space all cleaned up. Look forward seeing how you do the rest of your home. I really like the desk and sure it will look great.
I think you did a great job on changing the rooms around! It looks really nice. I love the desk. I hope you stain it it's such a pretty cherry. I love the pops of color. I'm not a big fan of all neutral colors. Life is full of amazing colors. I think in tough times, it's important to count our blessings and pray for those who are going through difficult times. Enjoy your week. I look forward to your next video.
@@booklady8888 Thank you so much!! I do love the color of the desk too! Hmmmm I feel the exact same way-life has so many beautiful colors, why not use them? I have to agree with you on that for sure🥹♥️ Thank you, you have a great week as well!! 🫶🏼
I love that you moved your home around...It's your home and you should have it the way that makes you happy! I move my things around to get a fresh look too. Your dinning room rug has the same colors as mine in my living room. It's a rich and cozy rug. 99% of my home furniture are antiques and were given to me. My little touches of whimsy are either given to me or thrift finds. I'm blessed to live in an 1880 home apartment with the original mantel and built in cabinet and french doors. My prayers are with everyone that is in the path of the storms.
I can’t believe you mentioned the ‘Walkman’-what a throwback! 😅 It’s really interesting how rearranging or cleaning out a space can help us mentally; great tip! And please stay safe down there!
Love all the CHANGES...the color just brings your home to LIFE! THE DINING ROOM LOOKS AMAZING!!! Great choice to relocate it, so roomy! Now you have a sweet office/laundry room, and you can get the printer out from under the bed, lol. As for me I like your "kooky" self! Thank you for bringing a bit of joy, in the midst of the chaos. Praying for God's mercy with another hurricane on its way.
Love what you did, Melissa! It just makes sense. I think you will spend a lot of time around your dining table. Chatting, homework, diy projects….. You mentioned moving things around in your bedroom. I used to do that. Because I was already interested in decorating. Fast forward to being an adult, my home has always been my sanctuary. When I ended up living alone with my 3 children, my furniture was always being shuffled around. We used to joke that it was on wheels. But it was therapeutic I think. Now I’m in a much better place, but still will move things around. It’s refreshing and fun 🤩 take care, fellow old soul. Janina from Ontario, Canada 🍁
@@jinnemee7327 Thank you so much!! I appreciate you sharing this with me-therapeutic, so true!! I’m so glad you are in a better place now♥️ Fellow old soul 🫶🏼
Hey Melissa! I love the changes that you made. Your dining area seems so large and grand now! That rug 😍😍😍 Gorgeous! I can’t wait to see what color you paint the siding. I have to agree with you…at a time when so many people are suffering and have lost their homes, I’m appreciating mine so much. Home has always been my safe space too.
Dark green would be a lovely colour the paint your desk -or a lighter green - it would remind you of your garden in winter, at least it would for me since we are under snow for about 6 months a year up here. Love the new layout - you inspired me, and hubs and I just spent an hour changing around our livingroom before our family and friends arrive for our Thanksgiving on the 14th. Take care ♥
Oooh you’re reading my mind! That’s one of the colors I’m considering! I love the idea of thinking of the garden-especially for you! I’m so glad this inspired you, and hope you’re time with your family is simply wonderful 🥰 Thanks so much for being here ❤

I have heard of fire cider but have never tasted it!! I love your description, “a love letter from the earth.” And your description of fall!! @@dee.albert Thank you so much! You’ll have to try it in about 4 weeks :)) I feel you my friend, It’s taken a long time for me to come to look at fall this way. So where exactly does turn your smart lights to “fall-theme” land on your list? 😅 lol just kidding, but seriously that’s about as much of a theme change my place has. Definitely going to take some ideas from this video, I actually picked up a great smelling fall candle the other day. Another great vid!
Keep dancing and singing...! 90's music..and Scottish music what a combination:) Mine would be classical! As you said we are all so different.. Enjoyed your video, and your sweet words of encouragement and of course your floral wreath! Have a Blessed Day!
@@ourtimberhome Thank you so much! Haha it is! I love classical too, and 80s, and more lol! Music is a big part of my life and I love almost all kinds 🥰 Thank you for being here, and your sweet words! Have a beautiful day 🫶🏼🍁♥️
Thank you for being here, lovelies ! I hope you are having a beautiful and cozy fall day 🍁Leave me a comment and say hi! I love connecting with my fellow old souls ❤❤
“Ok, mom, that’s a little weird, but I support you.” 😭😭 how beautiful!! She is being raised so well. Not many can love on other’s quirkiness without judgement. We have decided not to decorate inside the home for fall this year, but like always, your videos are inspiring me!! ☺️
@@dee.albert Thank you SO much 🥹 I love that we can all choose and decide what is best for us and our homes at any given time. What a privilege! I appreciate you and hope you have an awesome week 🥰
Why does beauty matter- in the home or anywhere? Beauty matters because it stirs the soul, evokes creativity, and brings inner peace. Beauty reminds us that despite the pain and hardships in the world and our lives, that there is something more potent and more powerful, and if we can just keep our eyes on what is beautiful and good it will see us through.
