how they even came up w/this whole thing amazes me...then to have to go through all the detailed steps and make it happen while not getting confused in the process...very clever and unique.
Nice video. I take my hat off to those who build Kumikos because they make it look so "easy"! Especially when the wooden strips are all sawn on the saw. Wish a nice weekend.
Is the adhesive on the fabric or on the boards? I'm thinking different boards hanging are used for different steps in the process? In the US I have not seen any boards this long either. The specificity products made in Japan must still be produced specifically for Japanese Crafts that still exist. My studies about Crafts of Japan have shown that very few craftsman are still doing these crafts. And those young ones are very special to take their life-times in some cases to practice until their perfection.. I"m in hopes their crafts remain for years to come.. Thanks so much for showing Original processes.. These supplies are sometimes hard to find?
I have practiced other stencil processes; but I never knew what is the adhesive on these boards that holds so well And I'm amazed that his boards are kept so clean? The precise cutting must take a very long time to learn the touch of a very sharp blade in hand.? The Japanese crafts are very expensive because of the Pride involved in time and connection between their mind and mastery within their daily lives. I would like to have the opportunity to these supplies to the US so I can practice also?
