5:30 proper fishing that, i do same on the PoD Derwent, no matter how cold it gets overnight it's just me sat on me chair and no shelter trying to stick it out until sunrise 🙃
What’s your choice of rods reels & preferred test curve when fishing the river soar! Great catch with your second barbel, are at liberty to say what area of the soar u were fishing?
Hi, I use Trefor West Lone Angler 1.75 tc rods (they are no longer available), Shimano GTE 6000B reels and sorry but I'm not disclosing where I was fishing. 👍
Most fisherman I’ve ever spoke to/met have been complete melts. I semi-understand you not wanting to tell people your *exact* location but to just give the name of the river is basically pointless. If you wanna be coy about your fishing spot then why upload videos online?
@@aydan0161 I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on this. I think most anglers would like to know the river, and if it’s the Severn/Trent whether it’s the lower, middle etc, so I don’t see it as pointless. I don’t share the location as local anglers who fish the stretch don’t appreciate it and I don’t have permission from the clubs. I don’t feel not sharing the location takes away from the entertainment.
@@DeggersFishing not gonna argue with you mate, but that’s a complete load of tosh. You’re the same as all the other cagey fisherman I’ve spoke to/met when discussing where/how to fish a location. It’s because of selfish reluctance to share information that these small-time tackle shops are closing down and that the hobby as a whole is dying. Next time, just title the video “River fishing in the UK”… may as well!
@@DeggersFishing what a pleb response for a 70+ year old man. You have the charisma of a brick yet have the gall to call your amateurish content ‘entertainment’. I’m 26 years old and it’s a sad state of affairs when you have OAP’s trying to bust out emojis ‘😂😂😂’ in a conversation. Act your age maybe?
Well you did better than me when I fished that peg all I got were Bream bites, should have persisted I guess. Have you noticed any pattern as to what state of tide tends to produce the most Barbel ( Flood, Ebb, Top/Bottom of the tide) ?
I tend to find I catch more barbel when the river has some flow on it, when the tide is going out, once it starts backing up as the tide comes in and there is no/little flow, it becomes bream time!
Great video, we are heading to Spain/Portugal for 3 months after Christmas. What's the situation with licenses/permits? Are they quite easy to come by? Kind regards, Liam
I used a guide, and he sorted permits & a licence. I believe in Spain they have different licences in each area, it's not like the UK where we have one licence for the whole of the country. Good luck and tight lines 👍🎣
@@grahammuckalt483 My guide provided the bulky items such as rods, tripod, weighing cradle, chair etc I had to take reels, bite alarms and end tackle (hook length, hooks etc).
Hi Andy me and my brother in law were fishing to the left of you at Normanton on Trent the same day. Both blanked but returning this Thursday. On the Worksop book. Had a lot of barbel there last year
Hi Andy. I fish like you using pva bags and leads. Main reason is the river I fish is extremely snaggy and I can get leads and pva mesh quite cheap. Basically I can afford to lose them. Feeders cost in the region of £2.50-£3.00 a feeder. To buy one and lose one first cast in a snag isn't the best feeling. I've caught more fish using a feeder but the bigger ones seem to come out using bags. Whether the fish spook off the feeder I don't know.
I normally use PVA bags but I do use feeders, just depends on the river and conditions. I've never noticed any real difference regarding fish size versus PVA or feeder. Tight lines 🎣
@DeggersFishing No probs Andy. Yeh, it fitted well. What a fantastic experience though mate. I enjoyed you taking us along with you to Spain. See you at 'The show' on the 9th June 🎣💥👍🏻
I need to get fising on the continent some day, Would love a massive european barbel, and for those that love Chub, there's the massive Asp that are widespread throughout europe.
