Just come across this video! This is brilliant! Proper ploughing and proper farming! This is what the manufacturer intended their products be used for! Not just polished to take a few drunks to the pub at a show, don’t get me wrong I love a good restoration but you can’t beat seeing someone use it PROPERLY! good on you! And I bet your repair costs are minuscule compared to a modern tractor, not to mention the skill required to do the job, good lads, you love too see it!
You seemed to like DB tractors (!!!!). Joking here. I got restored my 1967 DB 880 Selectamatic tractor. I like it a lot. But if I had to do it again, I would re-bearing all the transmission that gets noisy with time. There's nothing like a DB. Especially the 990 model. The best they have done in the 50 to 60 hp tractor's category.
Mint condition ! Thanks for taking care of those DB tractors. I live in Quebec-Canada. I own a David Brown 880 Selectamatic completely restored. They're very nice when they look brand new. But if I had to do it again, I would rather choose the 885. Mostly for the power steering and 12 speeds semi synchro transmission.
I see so many people building sterling engines that do nothing! Well in this case it’s polluting the atmosphere. Don’t get me wrong. I like the sterling engine and I believe combined with todays technology the sterling engine will make a comeback however, if they just become this “thing” that we just want to look at, what is its useful purpose then?
Yeah the 200 or so engines that rarely run are totally destroying mother earth. Maybe this hobby isn't for you. Go cry at the old locomotives that run daily for tourists.
It does seem that the flywheel is too large for this engine, and the working pistons seem very small. Those things together it seems like this engine has very low horsepower for its size. It might be able to work much faster and with power available to use with at least a smaller flywheel.
looks like fun how far we have come ..i built one of these selectormatics a few years ago from bits here dont forget to like n subscribe .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-luSkvD04ehM.html
