After actually having started to learn Kanji, I've noticed that even that often gets stylised in anime, which can make it impossible to identify. That begs the question: Why do they do that? Kanji actually depends on its interpretation. Even Hiragana is different between hand-written and digital, but at least those are fixed sounds and basically an actual alphabet.
