If you are interested in becoming a beekeeper or experience backyard beekeeping for yourself have a look at some of the videos on this channel.
Although this channel is primarily about beekeeping I am also a quasi prepper who believes in becoming self-sufficient. I have started a garden, planted fruit trees, blueberry bushes, and have recently built a chicken coop. I am also an innovator. You will see new things on this channel. Things that haven't been done before or things being done differently. I do not believe in a static life or static processes.
I believe you are never to old to learn something new. If I see something I want to try; I start it immediately. Never be afraid to try. My wife told me once that if you are not willing to be bad at something, you will never be good at it. I am bad at quite a few things.

I had to tell you a funny story. A while back you were stung through you pants. I laughed my self sick seeing you run on the video. Well Today I did an inspection and this massive hive was pissed. I was stung 4 times through my pants and literally ran away 3 times it was too intense. I had to suck it up and get stung while closing up the 5 box hive (honey still on it!) I'm going to have buy bee pants to extract honey this year - I don't think they were queenless as I saw brood (before running away!) so it's time to requeen this hive. My legs are sore but I feel your pain/shame LOL
Last year I ordered a VEVOR Extractor with the electric motor (4 med + 4 Deep frames) and its a decent machine for home use, the downside is the legs are a little wobbly.. I prefer to not mark young queens because sometimes the bees ball her up or the next week she is gone.. I see you are using migratory covers on a pallet, I'm to the point of using less expensive woodware because the marketing glib (attic space or ventilation, etc) has little benefit. I do add insulation under the cover or in dead space and its paid off after severe weather much like your heaters.
After seeing your reviews on the Vevor hive 2.0, I've ordered 4. One had a panel that was cracked all the way through, I messaged them about the problem, they asked a few questions reviewed the photos, and sent out a replacement panel that I got about 2 weeks later. Great service! Great product!

At 13:00 you have capped brood and an opened queen cell. Taking into account the different periods for workers and queens to emerge, those capped brood cells are probably from the eggs you gave them to develop a queen.
Wow! Was not expecting that! Was at city hall submitting my wastewater report to DNR, seen the notification and started watching the video. I seen you pull out the jar and had to show it to the city clerks and they were just as excited about it as I was. I posted it on Facebook as well, maybe some of my friends will subscribe, at the least you'll get some views. Just a fyi, I don't have a refractometer so I don't know what the water content is, the honey was all capped. Anyway thanks for that, it made my day!
I think you need to run a division board down the center and turn those into a 2 unit type colony. It would make alot honey that's for sure. Add a excluder let them share a suppers like we do with nucs .. those were split down the center it be exactly like a tree cavity wouldn't be a hive beetle hotel bees would be plenty strong.
Was the farmer happy with his harvest of peaches, blueberries and strawberries this year? Did he rent hives in previous seasons? (I may look new, but I deleted all my old comments 😎 )
Hi Tanks in space. I recognize you. Why did you delete all of your old comments? Anyway, yes, the farmer had a fantastic harvest this year. He had so many peaches on the trees he had to pick about half of them off the tree while they were young so the others would grow big. He did have another beekeeper on the property in previous years but from what I have seen of his hives they weren't very well maintained.
Possibly a little of both. I suspect they were so weak they couldn't defend against the ants and moved out. without a queen, they probably just begged their way into other colonies.
It's so hot here in Bama after working my bees I have to change underwear. All I wear under my suit is my underwater. I have a Hillco Featherweight suit.
A little humor on a hot humid Georgia morning was nice "Presidential Moment. LOL I here other YT's say that leaving to many queen cells in a hive increase the chance of virgin secondary swarms which can weaken the hive further. I usually take out several of the smallest ones and leave 2-3. Some say no more than 2. IDK Sorry about Army. I thought it was in trouble. Have a good week.
The fighting amongst the virgins can leave the victor damaged also. Usually only one virgin goes out to mate. We have maybe a 50-80 % chance she comes back. Once in awhile a virgin will sneak out without fighting and make a secondary cast swarm. There are no right or wrongs in beekeeping so we play the odds.
I feel for you with the heat and humidity. Us in Eastern Ontario know what humidity is like. The amount of rain we have gotten this year is huge and doesn't help with the heat. Working in my gardens and greenhouse just about kills me. The girls look great on the farm. Sorry about the bee barn dying out. That sucks big! Oh yeah, my Sting o Meter is up to 13 and not from honey 🐝 but wasps.
Things are looking good on the farm! It's nice you have some shade that time of day to inspect. Army hive having ants is way better than them having SHB, I think you may have caught that at the appropriate time. I still would like to see a peek in that hive from the top looking towards the bottom without frames to see how it's all holding up. Thanks for sharing!

Its nice to see the natural wood colour on your hives, mine are the same, I have started using a wipe on water based polyester coating, it is so easy to get it onto the wood and a coat dries really quickly.
Love the "you fix it" challenge! I'm just watching so no suggestions from me but will be watching for the outcome. 😊 FYI Hanes 6 packs white tshirts are 18.98.
I think putting another hive into the barn would be best. Don’t throw good after bad. Question since I cannot find an email for you - what do you have in your pocket that your tool sticks too? I am assuming a magnet. What size and where did you get it?
I'm sure he'll answer too but I asked too before so I know the answer... it's from Amazon and it's a magnet that comes on a magnet fishing rope. Just remove the rope & voila! Love mine FYI! 😊
@BugFarmerBees I paid $18 in Virginia, I charge $10 but it wasn't too long ago it was $5. I can remember just a few years ago getting queens for $15 or less. Good queens today run $45. Damn Biden!! But the stock in my 401k has doubled in a couple of years, so I guess I should be happy.
