It took me over a year to not have to many leaks samples are a good way to find out the bag that best suits you, some foods will make more watery output, over time you will find out what's best for you.
Hollister makes the best pouch strap that goes around your body, adjustable.... then clips on to those plastic tabs on every pouch single kit or double kit. after shower put on a pouch strap clip it in and roll up some paper towels and dab for a while and in no time, it will be dry... don't pull the strap on too tight. it requires only a little pressure to keep kit in place. Measure your body around so you know which size strap to buy. key is if you have a good wafer installed and dry it, there should be no problems... this is now 1 year in and I have tried everything to settle on the products I like and stick with them.
I am not quite understanding how this benefits. I have an ileostomy which is below waistline of my jeans. So the waistband chops my bag in half. So how would this belt benefit apart from adding another layer
After my ileostomy I couldn't get more than 3 days before springing a leak. That was using the wax barrier ring. My stoma is at the level of my belly button and close enough to it that the flange covers half of it. My leak was always to the button, and I was thinking my surgeon screwed up putting it there. I was in the hospital a few weeks after the surgery because of fever and fatigue. My bag was leaking, and a nurse replaced it. It leaked badly again after 6 hours. Another nurse changed it but used stoma paste and left the tube with me. I ditched the wax ring and now only use paste. I haven't had a single leak with the paste. I can get 6 days with no leak and could go more, but I think 5 days is a practical limit. I don't sleep in my Stealthbelt Pro. I take it off in the evening and put it on in the morning. I remove it because when the bag is in the belt the advantage of weigh removal is lost when laying down, and the belt has the disadvantage of keeping the output from the stoma pushed to the stoma. When you have watery output it just gets held there. I use two bags (2 piece). I remove one and clean it, then install the 2nd one. Then in the evening I repeat the process. So I install the morning bag sideways for the horz belt and the evening one vertical for no belt. One tip I have that I am fully exploring now is using petroleum jelly (Aquaphor) to caulk the gap between the stoma and the cutout on the flange. When I do my twice a day bag swap I smear just Aquaphor around the edge of the stoma. This helps keep the output from getting through. I recently started this and will continue to monitor the results. Even with the paste some output does find its way in and cause some minor burning sensation. I also have the neoprene Steathbelt. I use it for foil boarding and wakeboarding. It's great! I'm 68 with colorectal cancer and on chemo. But thanks to the belt I am able to return to the sports that make me happy.
no bag showers are the best. I've not had output problem there, yet. starting to get more frequent leaks after 17 months with my colostomy. dietary changes, physical changes?, looking at convex as possible remedy.
Hello, I am Melbert Lucido from Philippines. I am a colostomy user since 2019 until now. I'm looking for some help for my health condition and reversal surgery. Please contact me here. Thank you. 😢
Just everyday life is negative and challenging, I adapted so well I'm not sure why I had never been in a hospital before my gallbladder exploded So they had to do clean out I had sepsis and it had poked a hold of my intestine and there was a growth over there and they took out the piece of my intestine but when people ask me about it I tell him hey you know this is actually kind of convenient because I don't have to worry about gas I just burp My bag when I need to including the middle of the night, and my farts have a charcoal filter so I tell everybody I smell like roses, and I don't have to find a rest area when I'm traveling I don't have to limit myself to pulling over I think it's a little more convenient, except I still have the question about hot tubs things like that I'm worried about the glue.
I had my colostomy or my stoma virtually without any warning at all while they were taking my gallbladder out they saw a growth on my intestine and decided to take part of my intestine out and it turned out to be cancer-free on one of the lucky ones, but then it became eligible to have it reconnected and I just decided you know I'm old enough that I don't need it reconnected and there were so many side effects and things that could happen that I decided to just keep it and I'm have questions about a hot tub, and I wear stretch pants all the time now that the leggings and stuff are in style and that seems to be enough support for my bag and at night or when I go swimming I've cut off the legs on a couple of them and that's what I wear can you tell me about hot tubs and stomas
I’m new to the club having colorectal surgery in April. Around my stoma it can be itchy and don’t like the weight pulling down on the skin when it starts to fill. My concern about wearing a belt is if it opposes the output preventing it from falling to the bottom of the bag leaving it on the stoma.
Collin, I can’t thank you and others enough about how you have helped us! I now have a permanent colostomy. I am now just two weeks as of today since surgery. Anyone who knows me can’t believe how well I’m doing. Believe me it’s because of you!!! I have used Dial but will try your recommendation. Thanks!
I have a question, my husband has a urostomy ileal conduit In your video you show the bag being folded up. My husbands bag is normally vertical so I am not sure how this would work. Could you advise as we are about to order a couple of your stealth belts for when his wounds finally heal. We love to just float on our noodles. Thank you. Sur Ashby
