Thank you for all the help you’re providing! I tell you how much this means to me! I now have a permanent colostomy. No one can provide the kind of information that a ostomate gives! So thankful there are those who can put aside the embarrassment and give us great information!
Thank you, We are in our late seventies and I am caring for my partner who went through emergency surgery and now is living with an ileostomy. She is experiencing several leaks a day. At our next visit with the ostomy nurse, we will talk about changing the 2 piece to a convex wafer. Question, do you use the paste with the convex wafer as well for extra security. With our supplies of the coloplast brand, we get 100 bags and only 10 wafers, so generally we run out of wafers very quickly. All this is life changing and consumes our very existence!
Two piece all the way. I burp mine as needed. When my output pancakes, I just separate the bag from the base and clean the output from the base and bag. (Just use tap water and toilet paper). +1 Floating flange. Good job on the video.
I did the one piece the last two days. Love the low profile. But it came loose at Wk tonight. Nightmare , I had plenty of tape and a clean shirt. Yes I’m very active, I’m going back and staying with my 2 pc. I appreciate everyone that talks about anything ostomy! Thank you all!! 🤍
Glad to hear you were well-prepared! That helps with so much anxiety surrounding ostomies. Stay tuned for our shorts answering common questions, and please let us know if there are any videos you would find helpful and we can get those going!
Thank you for your video's they really help me as a new Ostomy. I got a Urostomy but a lot of what you talk about applies. I'm only 2 weeks out from surgery and theres so much to learn. I do plan on getting your Stealth Belt as soon as my stoma stops shrinking and get to its regular size. m
We're here for you every step of the way. Let us know if you have any questions we can help you with, and check out ostomy.org for all sorts of resources for new ostomates.
You are a blessing like so many! I’m so down right now bc of my situation. Bless you brother! Thank you so much! Had my first nightmare tonight. Had a leak in a one piece. Terrible. Could have been worse I guess
Sorry to hear you're feeling down. Hopefully we can help! Leaks are mentally challenging, but with some experimentation with different products you can minimize them. Definitely consider a waterproof mattress cover. It gets easier over time.
I’m trying a two piece soft convex appliance from Coloplast today for the first time. So far it seems very nice. This one is a low profile so the bag sticks to the base plate rather than pressing and clicking on. So you give up the ability to burp it, but it’s super low profile. My skin right around the stoma has been sore and I’m hoping this bag helps. The paste does seem to help and feels better against my skin. Actually powder first to fill in around the stoma so it’s even with everything then paste on the baseplate. I did that today hoping it’s ok to use paste with a soft convex system. I’m tired of sore skin so I hope so! And perhaps a Stealth Belt will help!
The two piece flange allows for more flexibility with movement you say? I may have to try one someday, as I am often active. I am considered a hernia stealth belt currently. I wish I had looked into this sooner as it seems it would have at least given me more confidence.
Colin, I’ve been using rings since the beginning (6 years). I’ve have been told that it may not be necessary to actually use them. In the hospital they used the paste but I decided to go with the rings instead. My stoma does stick out a pretty good bit, plus my stomach does have a small hump around my stoma area and use the Coloplast SenSura Mio Convex Flip. I was wondering if I should either go without the ring and/or use the paste instead. I have had times where my stoma does retract but I find that only happens when I eat foods that are harder to digest or if I regretfully wind up eating too fast. What is your opinion?
Sorry, but no. But if you call into customer service, we may be able to find a discounted belt in our returns. And I recommend you sign up for the email list so you’ll always know when we’re running a sale.
