I would love for this Light Mount to be the first Product Review on my channel! If you’re interested in sending me one for a review, let me know. I’ll send it back once the video is done. I had a similar idea about a year ago but I have no experience or knowledge with making a product come to life. Good work gentlemen! Keep it up.
Very helpful info - thanks From my experience, it would be nice to be able to lockout the top 20% of magnicication from variable optics because the eyebox becomes so finicky
im just gonna say it. if the plxc had the reticle and illum from the nx8...i wouldnt even look at another optic...ever. i hate pa's reticles and illum...
Idk, man. That lens on the VCOG would have to be pretty dusty to wash out the image like that. Did you ever clean the lens and do a second filming, even just for your own confirmation on the comparison?
I've filmed with the vcog at this locational and it looks similar. It's definitely washed out in this shot but otherwise pretty true. I think the crispness and chromatic aberrations were not affected. You can actually compare it to my other 1-6 comparison video with just the vcog and raptor and decide for yourself.
@@compulsivegunbuyer ill definitely look back and check it out. I will say, for an optic from Trijicon and how expensive it is, I expect better. It should not look washed out.
Would be nice if you developed a more quantitative scoring method to evaluate glass clarity. Too much subjective/qualitative factors come into play. Also, why the evaluation at such a long distance? Why not something a bit closer (like 200 yds) for a 1x6 LPVO? In reality who could really engage a target at 600 yds with a 1x6?🤷♂️
Sounds like you are describing more of a resolution test under lab conditions, which I agree would be helpful, and there are official resolution charts I could use for that kind of test. The problem is that a quantitative fact like that is pretty abstract. I want to show you what things look like in situations similar to the scope's intended use--and no one is going to use a scope to stare at a resolution chart. That's why I like showing people through various scopes at various distances. The side-by-side cuts down on some of the subjectiveness, but you are correct that there are still far too many uncontrolled factors to make it a scientific test. But hopefully it serves as a helpful data point for a prospective buyer/user.
How long does it take you to film through one scope, remount your camera and film through another scope? It looks as though these weren't even filmed on the same day or even from the same exact location pointing in the same exact Direction.
I could check the exact timestamps but estimating here: the switch takes less than 5 minutes, and the whole thing was filmed between 10am and noon on a sunny day. The clouds in the distance make it look darker than it was.
Definitely believe it is a "purpose driven" decision 🤔 For "shorties" I like a 2.26 height RDS primary with a FTC magnifier: no secondary - For "GPR" (13.7~16") I like 1.93 1-6x SFP "RDS bright" LPVO: mRDS secondary not "needed", but definitely not putting one up in a 12 o'clock orbit above an already high mount 😂 If running a secondary, it's definitely going to be offset! - 18~24" SPR/PRS will be running a MPVO or long range primary around 1.5" off the deck. In this instance, a 1x secondary at the 12 o'clock position is ideal.
@davidhartley6232 this is sort of where I've end up as well...only issue is trying to train to adequate proficiency with three different settups (all with multiple optics), but I haven't found a one size fits all that I'm satisfied with.
I can't believe how much fun I have with mine. I've had dozens of guns over the past 2+ decades, and this was a game changer. After more practice, the Flux will be our home defense setup. Room to room is far easier than my 300blk.
Would you say also that the more you pay, the better eye relief youll get? I want to try a lpvo but as a dynamic shooter, i keep hearing that eye relief is weird
No, there is not a direct relation between price and eye relief. How eye relief is balanced with the rest of the feature set will ultimately be a design decision. With LPVOs it's all about balancing features, even when money is no object.
You said you had the meter version but that is clearly the yards reticle. Look back at the opening of the box and it says Yards? Did you not notice that?
@t.j.padden8533 You are the first to point this out, and I think you might be right. I checked the receipt, and it definitely says meters for what I ordered, but I may have received the yards version after all and not even noticed it before I returned it.
Elcan specter over all of them.. sold my Atacr 1-8 2 days after trying for first time a 1-4dr specter. SO MUCH better in everything.. lpvos are in general a compromise.. not that fast like a real 1x, not that “long” to see well over 6x (the eyebox of the Atacr over 6x is HORRIBLE and it’s even worse on the vortex). Jm2c btw. Will never buy another lpvo… ever..
@@compulsivegunbuyer only that’s it’s significantly larger than the nx8 but the exact same weight. They had to compromise material somewhere. And again, it’s the only portion ever not discussed in any reviews. Your review is great btw, not throwing shade. I’m actually surprised no one has dropped one on purpose for clicks with their no questions asked warranty.
Sage dynamics’s did one , it did very well I think … drop tests are out there and it’s not as bad as you think , the plxc is better than the nx8 that’s widely accepted only reason you’d buy the nx8 over it is for the name clout now the Actar is another story
Glass clarity was obvious, but it's a bit of a redundant test when we're not watching the same interaction. It's clear he was waiving his hand on the right, no where in the left recording did i see the same movement, and it was clear we were watching two different recordings. But the glass was clearer. Also the price difference is astounding, so, weigh your worth as well. Nice try, bad test.
Excellent video. I think Jeff Gurwitch will agree with you about the viability of the offset dot, considering he ran one for years on his M4 downrange in the sandbox pvp server we call GWOT.
@SS-tr5ru I'm curious to see what price they land on as well. I've kept in touch with them since SHOT, and I'm hoping to get some time range time on the physical product.
@@compulsivegunbuyer thats a good distance , i have a G3 rifle in 308 and shoot it using a 1x H2 Aimpoint and wanna upgrade to an lpvo , its just the big price diffrence on the Vortex that makes you wonder if its worth it , ive shot 600m with the original G3 Scope but its a low quality scope to me
