This channel shows approaches and departures from the best available view in any airplane - the cockpit. The videos show the outside view, parts of the cockpit instrumentation and the pilots at work. There are also videos which are produced by a wing-mounted camera on a single engine airplane. Videos are published son Saturdays. If the published videos are long (for example including an approach and a departure), the next video will be published in 2 weeks.

I’ve been hoping for your return to Edinburgh! Sorry about the clouds, they’re a permanent feature, we did our best to turn the rain off though! I can’t help but wonder if your flight contained the returning Tartan Army… from what I’ve read they left quite an impact in Germany and represented Scotland very well. It’s probably just my perception, but was the departure from a rather dreich Düsseldorf fast? Felt like it took no time to get to V1! Made me wonder if the aircraft was light. Beautiful approach with a view of the Bridges, and a very smooth looking landing. I enjoyed seeing the aircraft bearing down, reflected on the windscreen of the tug. 🇩🇪🛫🌍🛬🏴🧑🏻✈️
Hi Stefan Paul from Kent best channel on you tube another great flight did you manage to spend some time In Edinburgh lovely city. Keep up the great work Paul
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Interesting.. is that due to the close proximity of that stand to the runway meaning the taxi in was <2m 40s hence the 20s needed? I've never noticed that pause when flying Airbus, but I don't recall ever doing such a short taxi in either.
Two very experienced pilots had a lot of fun together. The mutual appreciation by each other opened space for (of course very professional) extremely polite communications with a smile on their faces..
Good question! It does not affect our flights to Cyprus! With the Airbus A320 series airplanes, we use GPS, but in addition we have 3 IRS systems. These are Inertial Reference Systems. Before the flight, we tell the systems where we are and after that they measure the acceleration and are able to display the current position. The system is updated by GPS or / and ground based navigation aids (VOR/DME). If the GPS is not working or unreliable, the ground based navigation updates are good enough. For the approach, we used the ILS, the instrument landing system. This is completely ground based and does not need GPS or so.
I think you had a military C130 behind you at number four for the approach. (59:30) I heard the call sign "Shockwave Romeo". The Shockwave callsign is used by the US Military C130 transporters. I used to watch another cannel where the pilot posted his videos flying those. No offence, but I love the C130!
Thanks for your good feedback! I currently work on the MCDU topic. It is difficult due to reflections and the very limited possible camera locations. One of the next videos will show the "live" MCDU during our approach preparation and on the ground during the full flight preparation. I hope that you will like it.
What a great captain. Gave feedback with genuine feeling. As an employee, we can ask for nothing more. What a pleasure it would be to work with someone like them.
I'm working on getting my PPL at the moment. You're videos are fantastic, so interesting, and give a great overview of SOPs in use in a commercial cockpit
Thanks for watching and for sharing your great feedback! I love to hear that the videos help you to get an impression what is going on in a commercial cockpit! All the best for your PPL training!
Hello Captain, yup, your FO was absolutely correct. That was indeed "blue skies" especially for Scotland. 😊 Great view on approach. Always super to see a place I know from above. Happy flying guys. ✈🛩
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Well yes, don't we all. 🤣 Good luck with that flying into the UK. Can be possible....occasionally! Maybe that's why I also enjoy your flights to the Mediterranean. More likely there. Love all your videos, always so interesting listening to the chatter too. Thanks for all your hard work in presenting them.
Great flight and nice smooth landing. :) Also nice to see speed management during descent to give separation for that Lufthansa flight behind. There was even one takeoff in between the landings.
Thanks once again for an amazing video. May I ask a question? Is there a certain amount of time after takeoff you have to hand fly the airbus or can you engage AP as soon as you're both ready? I'm assuming its more fun to fly by hand for as long as possible!
Thank you for sharing your great feedback! The minimum autopilot engagement altitude is 100 feet above ground, but not less than 5 seconds after lift off. Usually, we engage the autopilot much later. It is up to the pilot flying to decide whatever he or she likes. Most of the pilots I have seen switch it on latest at about 10.000 feet.
Always welcome to Belgrade. Have a great time and safe trip. If you bring German cars or tools, we will pay fair money. Please no bombs, just peace. Wish you health and happiness.
My comment was going to be, are you only bad weather flyer? But then you came out of the clouds and the sun was shining. sorry back to German.
Thanks for watching and your detailed personal feedback!
- Great video, as always. But it seemed you started from runway 05R, in the description it is said 23L.
Vielen Dank fürs gute Feedback und den Hinweis. Ja, das war ein Start von der 05R. Ich habe die Basis der Beschreibung von einem andere Video übernommen und dabei die geänderte Runway übersehen. Ist inzwischen korrigiert. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Of course! My girlfriend is a bit of a nervous flyer so these videos are helpful for showing her through the incredible amount of checks that are done before and during the flights!
Thanks for your good feedback! I work on solutions in regard to a MCDU camera. As always, it is more difficult than I assumed. First results may be published soon. Please stay tuned!
Excellent video once again! May I ask you about the warning which was displayed on the PFD altitude tape in red at 1:01:04? It's the first time I have seen that but I can't read what it says as it's quite small... Maybe I need glasses 🙂
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! The CAPT PFD showed check altitude for a short moment because of a discrepancy between the CAPT PFD altitude and the FO PFD altitude. This was caused because the CAPT PFD altimeter was already set to the local altimeter setting (QNH) and the FO altimeter setting was still at standard. It went away as soon as the FO PFD was also set to local altimeter setting. Have a nice day!
Yes, it is possible to request to fly with a certain colleague on the flightdeck. He or she needs to do the same. This may interfere with requested off days, vacation …
I love these videos and they make my day better every time! I'm still waiting for the day that you get assigned on a flight to Helsinki! Hopefully that comes true someday. Thanks again for the video and happy summer and happy flying!
Thanks for watching and your great feedback! I - for sure - will try to make a video when I am scheduled next time to Helsinki. It may take a while. Please stay tuned!
A great video, as always! 👍✈ May I ask you a short question: considering only the A320ceo family, do you as an A320 pilot notice a significant difference in whether you're flying an A320-214 (CFM 56-5B4), an A320-216 (CFM 56-5B6) or an A320-232 (IAE V2500) - for example performance-wise? And what do you actually prefer to fly with? Thanks in advance for your answer and have a nice weekend!!
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! I do not notice a big different between the mentioned engine variants. The A320-216 provides less power for takeoff. So on some runways we are restricted in regard to the takeoff weight. But when flying the airplane, I do not obsereve noticeable differences. I also wish you a great weekend!
Danke fürs Anschauen und das super Feedback! Wir benutzen inzwischen Ipads. In älteren Videos sieht man Microsoft Surface Computer. Die haben wir davor benutzt. Einen schönen Tag noch!
