In late 70s & early 80s alot of great Bands from Vancouver (Island) Canada like PAYOLAS, DAYGLO ABORTIONS, No Means No, Red Tide etc etc. Too bad their albums are out of print and some Album's didn't even make it on CD ffsakes as their label did shitty promotion. Awesome Band (Payolas).
In a fair wold Jim would get a governor general award for art or be sent to a big bienalli. But it seems art is rigged.why is Banksy in the news? Banksy not that good not as Jim.
I just got into this band a few months ago. I have most of their albums now, but not their early stuff prior to the green album. So this video is really cool to see.
I just with the fans in our little 80s Denver scene had been as politically motivated (and progressive) as bands like DOA and DK. Instead, it was mostly apolitical rich kids and dorks wearing swasticas.
I've been a fan of DOA and The Subhumans since around 1981, and had all those early records, even all the way out in Moncton, New Brunswick!! Incorrect Thoughts was an instant favourite. When DOA played here in April of 1984, they stayed at my moms house, which was a popular place for travelling punks who needed a place to crash while here or on their way to Halifax. They were promoting their most recent single, General Strike at the time and had a new drummer, who used to play in Verbal Assault I think it was. Brian was on bass, and his girlfriend was meeting him here from BC. They had their reunion in my moms dining room on the floor. A few years later in Montreal, I was playing bass in a blues band and somehow, through the guy managing us, we got put on a show with DOA. There's a whole story about one of the flyers/handbills made for that show but I digress. However, I didn't own a bass rig at that time so I had to ask Brian if I could use his. He said no problem and got me set up and we had a great set. They came and a were DOA, which is all you have to say.
Fuck, I’d love to do her Natal Chart. That band of hers back then-fuck they had good Soul in that Punk. Fuckin rare, man. I wish her the best. All of em.
I have rejected streaming and pay channels since they started. I only use and buy physical media. I am so grateful I have done that from the start because all this crap that is so popular with the masses today just sickens me in every way.
Great memories. Watched this during the late 70s and early 80s Sunday nights. The good old days. Raouel Casablance so funny. Hopefully, we can get more of this stuff on youtube,
Joey, Randy and Chuck= amazing. Love Chuck’s bass. Black Precision bass with black pick guard and maple fretboard ALWAYS looks killer. In fact I picked up a fucking squier affinity that had a maple fretboard and black body with matching pickguard. Only spent $200… just something extra. But yeah black on black with maple fretboard always looks Bitchin. Actually I was thinking of investing in an Ibanez Black Eagle with Malle fretboard but black matching headstock- looks gorgeous
That last statement is what’s up. “Punk rock” has become just another marketed cliche, another product to be sold and it mostly SUCKS in modern day general sense of the word. But there is still a “punk” DIY underground with bands pushing the limits of what it means to play hardcore punk and while the genre as a whole has moved into the mainstream there is still a true, authentic form of this music (at its heart) being made year after year and i’m happy to say if you look hard enough you will find that desire to push away from the norm alive and well in some circle of the underground (the real underground, not the punk fests with blink 182 and nofx) if ya know ya know
