Hey dude I just wanted to comment and say that I'm pretty sure I'm older than you I'm 33, and honestly it sounds like me and you had the exact same experience only the Green Day album I listen to was dookie when it came out LOL, yeah that's your mid 30s for you, but yeah I found them when I was like fucking 12 years old I didn't know why it sounded so good and different even though looking back on it it's still just Green Day it's very malleable by anybody but at that time at least they sounded a little bit more like a punk band because I didn't give a shit really what they were talking about or just talking about things that are a little bit more real like not being able to sleep your eyes feel like they're bleeding shit like that. But literally my first album I ever bought was fresh fruit for rotting vegetables, of course Dead Kennedy's first album which was amazing I think stayed in my CD player for like a good solid 9 months without ever being taken out and then someone turned me on to like The Casualties which had a much harder faster Street Punk sound even though all those dudes are pretty much Rockstar cunts in comparison to the rest of the punk scene, or at least the real one as I see it and yeah it seems like you might be the type of dude but goes to shows and might see you know maybe like Keith Morris with Off or you know other random bands like such that are still touring or local scene fans so I'm glad to hear that someone else's Discovery was the exact same as mine and the influence that they made on your life and figuring out oh wait there is something more than pop or fashion punk like Green Day who are very safe LOL but yeah man not enough people keep digging to find the real gold that sits me the surface of what people think the punk scene is unless they lived through the 80s LOL.
