I love how Reno is shut outside the door, but barges in on Cloud's convo with Rufus anyways 😂😂😂 1:28 - "I'm still out here." 1:35 - "yep, at the northern cave!" 2:09 - "you're are buddy aren't ya?"
It seems Rufus's near death experience was a real wake up call for him here. After seeing the bad state the world was in he finally realized how extremely wrong Shinra has been all this time and all their actions. Extracting the lifeblood from the planet with their damn reactors for energy to make money and being obsessed with finding the so called promised land which was nothing but a myth. Also Shinra never ever realized that their scientist Hojo was a MAD one and he had his own ambitions with his Jenova project and he's the one who's responsible for Sephiroth and all the bad things he did since thinking Jenova was his mother which she was really not.
Man, before this movie came out there was so much mystery around the guy in the wheelchair. A lot of people assumed it might have been sephiroth... then Tseng was mentioned. It was a bit... disappointing when it was IMMEDIATELY revealed who it was. But his scene with Kadaj totally made up for this.
I swear, if Rude leaned his head back just a bit further and yelled "If you smellllllllll what The Rock Is Cooking!", yup that would have made it priceless 👌 😀 😄 🤣
I will *always* prefer Steve Burton as Cloud -- there's a certain strength yet softness to his delivery that perfectly embodies Cloud as a character. I enjoy Cody Christian's portrayal; although, it just seems a bit generic and somewhat contrived.
0:51 This might be the most accurate to a video game scene in any video game movie. Cloud just mashes through Rufus's dialogue because he doesn't care and wants to get past this part.
No, that was his dad and Scarlet’s doing. I believe, if I remember correctly, Rufus was on house arrest in Junon after being caught secretly funding the old Avalanche to kill his dad.
It's actually not a trap. At this point they've been working on a treatment for Geostigma that they were planning on distributing for free. They are planning on rebuilding, but it's a different Shinra than before, hitting rock bottom and working their way back up. The monument that gets destroyed later was actually built by Reno and Rude with help from the people. Of course, I'm not saying it's stupid of Cloud to walk away. Anyone sensible should have doubts about them, but there is a reason why Reno and Rude are out their saving kids during the big fight in this one.
@@emeryltekutsu4357 Rufus was manipulating him using the kids to emotionally get Cloud to do something he wanted, ie be muscle to handle Kadaj. Sure, he may want to rebuild ShinRa and make up for what his company has done wrong - that does not make him not manipulative. Cloud was being manipulated and it nearly worked if not for Reno.
@@kellevichy But Cloud is the muscle that handles Kadaj. At this point, they've already tried fighting Kadaj. The Turks were the first ones to come in contact with him, besides Kyrie, who just thought she was her old friend, and they already knew it was Jenova. Tseng realized it pretty much right away. The Turks had already tried to fight Kadaj unsuccessfully. What were they supposed to do at that point? Let Jenova run rampant, or try to bring in the big guns? They're not necessarily saints, but they are trying to save the world at this point, knowing full well how Cloud and crew view them.
Cloud: Me Rufus: My friend convincing me that it's not my fault Reno: that one friend of mine that accidentally points out what I specifically did wrong
@@Wafflyy I read the novel. But Cloud left Tifa's bar, 20 days before Advent children starts. So it's not incoherent if he lives with others infected orphans in the church. (I am not sure. It's a theory people had since 2005)
@@ZeldaLover6 Rufus had broken rips, fell through a chute while escaping certain death and smackef onto a wall. He found himself in a small "Safe Room" and where he found expiref potions and medicine. He ignored the former, taking several of the latters, before trying to get out. When he finally got out (after what I assume were several highs of the meds, as he laughed a few times uncontrollably), he collapsed right into Reno's arns and was taken to safety. .. Only to be kidnapped twice shortly afterwards (basically his original kidnappers died and their doctor, a former scientist under Hojo, took him hostage). Forced into a cave alongside Geostigma infected for several months, Rufus almost drowned and was infected with Geostigma mere moments before he was saved. Kilmister (scientist/ doctor who had kidnapped him) worked for him in Healen on a cure and found out many things (e.g. the connection to Jenova). Fearing that Kilmister would turn into another Hojo or Hollander, he gave another survivor of the cave (Judd) a gun, with which Kilmister was killed. As for why Rufus gave Judd the gun? Kilmister shot Judd's gf right in front of him, almost hitting Rufus who wanted to help her. Basically, Rufus allowed Judd to take revenge for his dead gf almost two years later. (Source: On The Way To A Smile - ShinRa's Story) Also, Rufus was called 'Doofus Rufus' a short time before the movie and probably even afterwards. He also has a younger half-brother which he met during the two years between OG 7 and ACC.
It was 2005. The syncing technology at Square Enix`s NA division wasn`t up to snuff at the time like it is now and they rushed The Film to celebrate the Original FFVII`s 20th Anniversary. The CGI is still far more realistic than many CG Films nowadays.
@@Killer_Kris7 There were also creative disputes between the cast and crew in Japan. For instance, Director Tetsuya Nomura said that Loz was his least favorite Remnant despite his son Kenji voicing him in the original Japanese release!
Rufus didn’t really do much to Cloud and it was Cloud that challenged Rufus to a fight in FF7. And the Turks were just following orders, they don’t have to like their orders but they have no choice but to obey.
