My name is Richie. I love cars, gym, mountain biking and cricket. I'm half Aussie and half Filo. I live on the West side of Brisbane with my wife Yen and daughter Ayvia. I picked up my new Supra in September 2023. I'm no professional car dude in any form, but I thought it would be cool to share my experience and what I'm doing with you all, weather it's the good stuff or the bad.
Thanks for coming to check me out. Hopefully some of the videos will be enjoyable enough that you might like to give a like and subscribe.
Mate this is 🔥🔥🔥, planning on getting the same but bit worried about the cold start, I leave for work early in the AM 😆 is there a significant diff from stock during cold starts? cheers
Thanks man. Yeh, there is to be honest. I'd say the first 30 seconds is pretty loud, then it drops significantly. Normal idle and soft driving, this exhaust sounds stock though.
Good day everyone.. I just saw the video and I noticed that you already made the mod for releasing the air pressure from the original jbl subwoofers (honestly that should have been done by Toyota). Is it worth adding an additional subwoofer so 3 are constantly banging or did you cancel the stock JBLs? Please forgive my question
I would install the 12" again, if I had to start again. The stock subs don't sound like subs at all. Admittedly, my 12" is on about 25%, because I like my bass to be where it should be.
Nice Video.. Did you have any problems with loud humming sounds related to the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)? also the Active Sound Design deactivation? I
Hey mate any super deal If I order one through Josh in Brisbane? I'm on the sunny coast and no one up here has one to even look at so I have to go down to brissy anyway. Torque Toyo Northside has a second handy right now to test drive which I will go down in a couple of weeks for a test drive anyway and decide what to do.
That number plate holder could you do me a big fav and post the link for me, as I will have to order one of them also and drill the dealer not to screw any holes in the car number plate with that stupid big black plastic bit.
We are thinking about putting a deposit down on the same colour but the gt version as I would change the wheels to white advans anyway. Are you still in love with the car and is there anything you don't like about the Supra?
Hey Ritchie , have u got an email addy i can get ya on. I’d like to pick ur brain a lil deeper re: Supra stuff 🤭 mostly stuff that relate to things included in this vid but extra 👊🏽😎 anyway Thanks for this vid , I’ve always wanted a Supra & I just started a new job that has made a silly dream a potential reality. Thanks Mate , keen to watch u enjoy ur toy & see the smiles it brings. 😜🤙🏽
I live in Thailand. My car is a jdm spec and its valve acts the same way as yours. So with the HKS exhaust on, does it sound the same idling for both normal and sport?
There are things that only Supra owners know, when you have just turned it on and the car is cold it will not make the sound you want, after 10 or 15 minutes on the road that is where the monster wakes up, so I get an idea of what it sounds like when the turbo is hot, it must be crazy!
Hi Great video. Thank you for sharing. So that +Purple/Yellow -Green/black +White/Black -Blue/Black would only give out low frequency for woofers right? I am thinking to tap in to cables like you did for an amp to run a pair of 6x9 and 12 inch Sub. I assume I should use full range signals from rear speakers behind seat right ( not woofer signals in my case) ?
The signals I tapped into were post-oem-amp. So the factory amp has already made it's changes. You could tap from the same area. Just make sure it's the wiring going to the amp (not from the amp like I did). Obviously you will still get head unit alterations (unsure what, if anything, BMW/Toyota did with headunit output), but that would be your most untouched signals. So yep - I'd do what your plan is :)
In no universe not even in some shady parallel universe would a Installation like this TÜV Proof and street legal in germany xD. Wenn call that "pfuschen" 😂... This thing will fly off your car and rip your trunk in 20 pieces if you ever hit 160mph 🫣 jesus f*ckin christ xD there is a reason why the carbon wings legal in germany cost 2800€ and more. Check out the AC Schnitzer Supra Wing and how its mounted on the car. And you will now that you just have destroyed your trunk with this 800$ wing.
just a fair warning, people have been having heat soak issues with all of the new power with these systems. may want to upgrade cooling after using these!
Hey mate, I’ve ordered my supra (same colour as yours) and I’ve only gotten a “congratulations your new supra has been ordered” email from toyota. Nothing about a batch number. How long did it take for you to get the email with your tracking and batch number? Did you also receive the same email I had gotten?
Hey man, you don't get tracking or a batch number email from Toyota. Your sales rep (well the manager there) gets all the information. I also got that email, but don't expect anything else via email (you're supposed to get a built, shipped and arrived email afterwards). Some get the emails, some don't. And the timing of the emails have been way off for some. Make friends with your sales rep and you might get the info we talked about in the vid :)
The only email I've received from Toyota is for a competition to win tickets to the Cricket. In the body of the email it says "We know you’re excited to get behind the wheel of your new Supra and we’re doing everything we can to make it happen ....." which is the first and only email I've received that even suggests that my order is in a system somewhere. Until I that came though, I had absolutely nothing.
Dude. According to Tadda's instructions you need to only layer the walls with wadding. In the thread he goes on to suggest that filling the void completely with the wadding is likely going to result in worse sound than leaving the cavity empty!
One of the guys I met at a meet said he had filled his completely and it was much better. So off his advice I did the same. And he was right, it's hugely better. Lining the walls only is likely to be better again, but filling was vastly superior than OEM as it was. The effort to lining only, wasn't valid for me in difficulty vs reward. Attempted for a bit - too frustrating. So just filled and was happy.
@@richie.grainger Yeah cool. Just wanted to let people know as it isn't to the Sound Engineer's spec and his reasoning for not filling/blocking the port with wadding makes a lot of sense. I'm glad it sounds better at any rate!
Question for joshi, what’s the process around not mounting the front number plate bracket? I had requested that I didn’t want it mounted but my car rocked up with the mount.
Hello ! In qld the dealership does it. In some other busier states, they have a "centre" that does it and the client needs to contact toyota directly. When Richie’s car arrived, I went down to our check in station and took the plate out of the car, to make sure no one would accidentally install them, even after I requested it - just to be 100% sure.
@@IamBakgaming I requested that the dealer put it in the contract. Whether it makes any difference or not, time will tell, but at least I'll have some ammo should they stuff it up.
I need this exhaust on mine! Such a lower tone from stock , love it. Also - heritage wing looks great , was debating if I were to get one to paint match or not
Joel just installed that wing on his new Supra. He was test fitting it while it was unpainted. I think he's planning to leave it. It has the matte grey and I think unpainted it looks great. I'm a bit more subtle, so I personally like the colour match. Looks more racer unpainted and that suits him for sure. I love the HKS man!! Hope you get one yourself, definitely worth the wait and cash. The tone is bassy and again, subtle and I love that. Down shifts are the best :D
@@richie.grainger Just had mine installed yesterday. Did you have any issues w/ the tips being misaligned? i.e., my left one protrudes out a bit more than the right. Any tips?
@@thoopra - Nice man, thats awesome as, congrats. I do remember having to untighten the rear bolts to realign to get it perfect. It was so very slightly off, but a slight adjustment fixed it. On another note, overtime I noticed some sag from the rear exhaust hangers stretching a tiny bit. I did replace my exhaust hangers to get it perfect in the end.
@@richie.grainger good to know! I’ll keep an eye out for the exhaust sag. I just got it back from the shop and it’s still misaligned but they said the driver side pipe is damaged which is causing the misalignment issue, which is unfortunate
Hey mate, oh man that sucks. I've heard a few people have had this with this mst intake... easy fix though! I used a cobalt drill bit to drill it out. Then I put in a brick wallplug cut to size. Once that is done, just use a small screw and it's tight as can be. I had some high heat black paint in the cupboard and used a tiny brush to paint the screw black. An example of the wall plug: www.boltandnut.com.au/12mm-x-60mm-grey-universal-nylon-masonry-wallplugs-to-suit-m10-screws
