Professional racing driver, coach and broker of exceptional competition cars... welcome to my life on four wheels!
Throughout my career as a professional racing driver, driver coach and, more recently, as a specialist dealer of historic competition cars, I’ve been privileged to experience some of the most fabulous racing machines ever created. During the noughties, I was lucky to race at Le Mans seven times, experiencing all of the classes, from GT2 (GTE), right up to LMP1. In the years since, I’ve focused almost exclusively on historic racing, which has opened the cockpit doors to cars I once couldn’t have dreamed of driving. And now, as the cars I raced professionally ‘in period’ become eligible for historic series themselves, the circle is completing. With this channel I hope to share and celebrate these incredible cars, so please hop in, buckle up, and brace yourself for high speed ride through race car history!
The #50 Freisinger Porsche 996 GT3 RS (N-GT) won the 2003 24 hours of Spa Francorchamps overall, leaving the GTs behind. The #72 Seikel 996 GT3 RS finished 3rd overall.
It goes through the Gears in such a graceful way, and before you know it it's like "wait woah!" we're going scary fast! That's how I see it that is. Hehe, so cool, thanks for sharing, love it.
One question. I've noticed that both 1982 and 1983 models of FW08 had a narrower rear wheel span, while the front wheel span was wider. I'd like some more information about the reasons behind that. Was it something to do with steering?
So you have to lift to upshift and clutch for downshift? Man, that sounds like a lot of work to do but also so rewarding to get right. I don't know if i should be amazed by how far we've come in the newest gt cars or dissapointed of how little work it requires to drive gt racecars nowadays.
@@UnrelatedNonsense dog ring is the same to dog leg? If so, then yes they do require blips of throttle on downshift and power cut on upshift, but nowadays the computer does all of that for you. In a modern gt3 car, you only have to gas brake and shift.
Ahh, this channel and Sam never disappoint. This is probably my favourite channel on RU-vid now. This fills the gap left by Petrolocious, /Drive, etc. Oh, and that sound!
New stitching on the suit, Sam? Looks ace. Would you mind sharing specs/details on the suit? Gorgeous classic aesthetic. Wonderful quick gearbox on this Tyrell - are you clutching up and down or does it allow clutchless shifting on the dog rings?
A confusing time in GT racing for sure. So many Porsche 996s running in the "NGT" class all with a slightly different spec, all looking similar. Im curious as to how different the works RSRs were from the RSRs that were running in ALMS with Peterson White Lightning and Alex Job Racing.
I have such a soft spot for the 996, I had a lovely 996.1 C4 Aerokit. I cant imagine how much higher the limits would be on a race car on slicks 😮 I'd love to see one day.
