No rules being broken, only slightly bent. The single letter of the W just happens to create an H and a whale tail, you gotta respect the creativity and I appreciate the pick.
I’m sorry, but nostalgia aside, the north stars logo is very, very average. It’s not clever, it’s just literal. Which isn’t very creative. I just have never liked it, especially because so many people seem to fawn over it.
While Calgary is good, IMO that is the worst version of it simply because the yellow and white blend into each other, and thus, from a distance, some of the distinctiveness of the logo is lost. On the pedestal jersey they introduced black (on the red jersey the black separated the gold and white not unlike Minnesota seen here, and on the white jersey black outlined the logo, a feature which carried over into later years) and of course on later jerseys the C became black on a darker red. Point being, on all of these you could make out the flames more clearly.
I really like all 4 of those jerseys, the Whalers and North Stars are 2 of my top 5 all time favourites, but should the Whalers jersey count? I'm not sure. And did you forget about Boston??
May be unpopular and I’m bias as a Detroit fan but the 2009 Winter Classic D is a good one letter logo. Detroit’s symbol is the olde English D and the Red Wings have their own version. Same thing for the 2016 Stadium Series. It was a good modernization.
If I was a Wild fan, I would have to get that State Of Hockey logo. And the Stadium Series looks similar to what they always wear. How close is Phil getting all of the Reverse Retros?
I actually think that Rangers third jersey might be the first to feature the hanger effect. It debuted a few months before the 2011 Winter Classic. That jersey also feature that hem line effect with the team's retired numbers similar to the text on the Ducks and Winter Classic jerseys next season.
@@rambling-along93 I need to find one of those with the hemline effect, because mine doesn't have it. The most recent thing we've found is that Columbus did it first with the cannon third, but it seems to be a tough thing to track
@@uglythirds I completely forgot about Columbus. It appears that both jerseys debuted roughly at the same time in November 2011. Rangers just shortly before the Blue Jackets judging from press releases and articles from the time.
For the lace ups, the 2004 cup run era red flames jerseys had a black bit of fabric behind it Personal honourable mention Reebok put the LNH logo on the Canadiens jerseys when they added the lace, nice touch! Also I went 3/3 on the guesses I expect a gold star in my notebook

If we're discussing Nike my biggest complaint is that they're made to fit still mannequins and if you have your arms at more than a 20° angle relative to your torso the jersey no longer fits at the shoulder and the sleeve is at your elbow
I'm with you. I don't get why the Oilers didn't wear orange like the original was. And the nameplates should have been the same ribbon pattern with the maple leafs. Are the Oilers to blame for cutting corners? Or is this on Adidas?
